Its like we are repeating the Greenwood experiment.

Too much too soon.
What Greenwood experiment? He came into the first team because he was better than our other forwards, simple as that.

Which is nothing to do with his abhorrent actions, if that’s what you’re getting at.

I only hope we give him a new contract on a reasonable figure. He's shown potential at youth level, but nothing at first team level yet, if he makes it into the first team and shows he can cut it then improve the terms to a first team style contract. That said we'll probably offer him £100k a week.

30k per week will be fair. 1.5m pound a year is too much money for a 17 year old.

He has 1 year left on his contract. What should we do, not give him an extension?

Too much money in the hands of kids so young and immature will change them. Fergie didn't even allow the academy kids to even have coloured boots. Keep them grounded.
How much money are we offering him?

It won't be if the structure of the deal is correct, the issue you have is that his agent will not be interested in any structure and want his client on as much money as possible.

We'll quite obviously have to tie him down to a new deal. The sooner the better.

If he plays wide left, isn't he competing with Sancho?

(And I want him to play more too, really rate him)
Maybe as sub/rotation for Sancho? Apparently he won’t be our first choice next season, but giving him game time of 15-20 games is definitely possible.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

That'd be fine with me (a good number being non league games). Really like him but the big question for all of the youth players is can they cope with the step up (faster, bigger, more experienced opponents). Hope he does.

He will literally move to Liverpool if we don’t offer him a decent wage mate.

Tattoos are stupid. There, I said it. I don't like it when our academy players have them - especially those forearm tattoos that all look the same (i.e. god awful). Isak Hansen got them when he was 16 I think.

it's summer, he probably went abroad. He supposedly got some of these tattoo's last week.
If true, someone should tell him to keep those arms covered if he's going to be out in the sun. Fewer things are worse for fresh tattoos than direct sunlight [to be clear, I am not against him having tattoos - that's his business - but as an individual with ink, negligent aftercare makes me cringe].

Need to get this one tied up. If it runs into next season, assuming his first team opportunities are limited, we might end up with a potential disaster on our hands.

Greenwood getting game time early in his career has nothing to do with him being a psychopath. He was a talented footballer and got what he did on merit. Unfortunately he's a sick bastard.
I wasn't referring to game time. But the need to give th such contracts so early. There has to be a way to keep th grounded without having to throw huge contracts at 17y.o kids.
It gets to their head as any 17y.o kid would.

Instead we should allow him to leave for free next summer?

He seems to have a quite lot in his game - dribbling, touch, finishing, movement. Think has a little bit more going for him than the average academy winger. Hoping he makes the step up. Wonder if he can play as a striker eventually - he seems to have the physicality for it (not for the senior game yet)
