Reminds me of a Little Britain sketch with Lou having spent weeks agreeing a deal and then after all that Andy proclaiming “Don’t like it”

”But you said you’ve always admired the United DNA and their commitment to attractive attacking football”

”Yeah know”

26 years worth of debt!
If this is true, then why the feck have we been negotiating with Barca?????
Highly unlikely that this is true. One of the first steps in any transfer is to convince the player to make the move, and possibly negotiate personal terms, before negotiating with the selling club. Even with our general ineptitude, I would hazard a guess that we spoke to FdJ and got some sense of comfort before proceeding, especially considering the links between Ten Hag and FdJ.

This is just more fuel for the moanathoners.

Glad I did not remove my penis or watch any complication videos on YouTube.

If this is true, the new gang handling our transfer dealings will look like fools. Surely though, they must have sounded him out a long time before this point.

I just can't believe it... Or can I..

This dude has been repeating the same about de Jong wanting to stay since June 11th.

Wouldn't be a United transfer saga without someone posting negative bullshit tweets to put a downer on it

Innit, why would De Jong suddenly reveal this as they're agreeing a fee?

Watch everyone here talk about moving on now
Who has agreed what? All along De Jong has said he wants to stay and just fecked off on holiday. He’s been completely consistent.
We were trying to agree a fee when it was clear he wanted to 100 percent stay so the entire why would we negotiate if he doesn’t want a move falls apart.
It’s like the Di Maria meme, fans on here don’t want to hear it so memes away it’s relevancy.
It’s now the same with moving on.
I don’t blame him for not wanting to come and I have to question any established star who does.

Some wages he will be on, 350k I’m reading, think he was on that at Barca so I guess for a player not wanting to leave you have to pay up.

I think, with the entire economic lever bullshit, it changes his situation. It goes from needing to leave to avoid financial meltdown to now being asked to leave because the manager doesn’t want you. Now he can back himself to fight for a place or outlast Xavi

Just pay the fecking money and sign him.

This is going to be like us negotiating for Fellaini and Maguire…we are going to pay the price but just waste time in the process putting us back in our pursuit of others.

Chill everyone, we are not negotiating with Barca without having personal terms with FDJ verbally agreed.

He has never said he wouldn't come here. He was interviewed on international duty weeks ago saying he'd probably stay at Barcelona. That's it. What should he have said?

You really think we've been negotiating with Barcelona for weeks before hearing him out?

Don't believe everything the media tells you.

We were negotiating with Barca when he literally was saying he wanted to stay at Barca and didn’t want to leave!
We may have convinced him since then but that doesn’t change the fact we were talking with Barca with De Jong saying he wanted to stay.

I'm pretty certain if he truly didn't want to come, United would have walked away a long time ago.
We wouldn't spend time on a transfer, just to agree a fee with Barca, only for De Jong to turn round and say no. It's not like Football Manager! We'd actually be certain the player wants to come first before even pushing ahead with things. Seems like journos just want their last few clicks out of this story.

Oh and before anyone says "Yes, but this is United and we're stupid when it comes to transfers", i'm pretty certain that even United wouldn't waste their time with unobtainable targets without a guarantee that the player wants to come beforehand

we spent a considerable amount of time pursuing Sergio Ramos.
