Verhoeven's Total Recall is a classic science fiction film. Nothing terrible about it.
The other one is pants though.
Some of the effects(melting faces and eye popping) were awful for a 1990 sci-fi film. Raiders of the lost ark did it so much better almost a decade earlier.

Event Horizon is a legitimately good film but I'm willing to accept that my tastes are skewed to stuff like that because I made this thread so I might just love crap watchable films.

I nominate The Substitute series of films if I haven't already, watched them again recently and they're so good at being so bad it's amazing.

Anyone remember the film Bad Taste? That might well fit in here.
Oh, that's a fun film. Early Jackson is still the best.
Braindead, Meet the Feebles, The Frighteners and the slightly overlooked Jack Brown Genius.

Other films I'd add here would be Stuart Gordon's 3 low budget cult classics in Re-Animator , Robot Jox and From Beyond.

Also love Lloyd Kaufman's and Michael Herz's silly yet stupidly violent superhero comedy The Toxic Avenger, which I believe is getting remade.
