If we sign one player from Ajax this summer, which one would you want?

We've been linked to at least three current Ajax players is the shape of Timber, Martinez and Antony.

However, given they've already made other sales it seems unlikely they'll be willing to lose all three.

So if you had to sign one player and one player only from this current Ajax side, which one would you pick?

Timber got highest potential, but Antony fits the profile we need for a right wing.

Martinez can cover two positions, offering similar technical ability.

1. Tim
2. Anto
3. Lis

The ongoing need for defensive midfield destroyer could shake the hierarchy at some point.

Which one is a DM?

Seriously if Martinez can play there naturally then him. If not Antony as RW is more pressing than CB

Timber - hard tackling CB / RB and good on the ball. Antony is a more experienced version of Amad and Martinez is too short

Genuine question, in what way do you think Antony is like Amad? Totally different players surely.

Think Martinez is probably playing at the highest level, Timber has the highest ceiling but Antony has the least substitutability, least risks and highest potential impact on our first team right now so he's the one I would choose.

I'd probably say Martinez. It's not the sexy choice and he'll probably end up at Arsenal anyway, but I think a player like that would be a smart signing. We aren't going to sign a player in every position we need so someone who can play a couple of positions to a good standard can't hurt, sort of like Blind with van Gaal.

Timber might have the higher ceiling but from what I've seen he's still a little green, he could probably use the extra season at Ajax and it sounds like that's what's going to happen. There's a space in our team for Antony but for €80m I'm not sure. It's a lot of money for a player who isn't a goal/assist machine.

Anthony covers an area which is one of the weakest in the squad. I don't think Maguire is genuinely good enough for United but even if he is 30% better than last season it's enough to persist with. Should be RW and DM.

Agreed, going from Elanga to Antony is a bigger upgrade than a CB signing to compete with Maguire, Lindelof and Varane, albeit still an important move to make.

I just have a feeling Anthony isn’t going to be good enough. He’s got talent for sure but something about him makes me nervous.,

Antony because we desperately need a right winger and he’d fit in perfectly. I also think he’s the most likely one to get signed up by someone els if we don’t move quick for him. The other 2 would also improve us massively but we’ve got other targets in them positions I’ve not seen us linked with any other forward player except Antony.

Edson Alvarez.

I'm desperate for us to finally sign a DM.

Lisandro Martinez is the best. The only problem is we can only play him at CB or DM, would be nice to have 2x of him so he can take both positions.

Timber, who would make a fantastic RB for us.

I really like Antony but we bought a decent RW whose name is Sancho. Maybe Rashford comes back strong at LW, maybe not.

But we know we have a hole at RB and Timber excels carrying the ball forward. And he can defend too. And he can slot in at CB if Maguire’s collapse is permanent.

Their valuations are mental. Timber is unproven, 50m (euros) is taking the piss. Martinez a bit further along, but 50m again is taking the piss. And 70-80m for Antony reminds me of Wolves' briefs that Traore will cost 150m or Neves 90m. It's completely bonkers.

In recent years they've done well in selling players, but Donny was to us for 39m and Klaassen was to Everton for 27m. Two clubs who have massively overspent on players in recent years. Dest was modestly priced at 21m, even though both Barca and Bayern were fighting for him. Kluivert who - like Antony - was sold on potential, went for 17m. They probably did another stellar deal (like Donny and Klaassen) when they sold Davinson Sanchez to Spurs for 42m. Ziyech was probably fairly priced at 40m and they got 32m for Milik, while the standout players in recent years went for what they now seem to be quoting for Antony, FDJ for 86m and de Ligt for 85m.

I'd not buy any of the three linked players for the prices bandied about.

Bare in mind this is all from journo reports but I'd go Antony because the noise coming out is that he sees the PL and MUFC as a chance to prove himself and lift his skill ceiling. Timber heard one comment from LVG and seemingly shit himself. Neither Antony or timber would be guaranteed full season starters but one is making the right noises.

Timber wouldn't be guaranteed anything. There are three experienced internationals already at the club in his position including a world cup winner and one of the club's record transfers and captain.

Antony. Timber makes more sense for next summer anyway. Left footed right wingers are rare and he's a perfect fit.

Timber or Antony. Basically comes down to who would you be least upset seeing in our starting 11 - Dalot/AWB or Rashford/Elanga.

I still feel like RB is more urgent.
