Can't the Glazers cough up some extra cash just to get this guy in? He is still very far from the prime CB years. He will also be playing with FDJ and the LB for the NT and the club if we were to sign him.

Can't see this happening.

Read somewhere that his release clause is 120m and Juve want that much..
Good luck..

Chelsea do need CBs.. Silva is almost 38.. they have lost Rudiger and Christensen..

Let's do the loan with massive option to buy like Italian clubs are so found of.
We must be the only club that doesn’t ever think of loans with obligation to buy clauses, I’d be very happy with De Ligt on loan for a season then he’d been settled in our league once we paid for him.

He's been shite and Juve would be celebrating if they get a huge sum for him.
I've not seen a more error prone CB.
He was far and away Juventus best CB last year and one of the best in the league period.

We are not signing him. I cant see us spending more than 50m on a CB this summer. De Ligt will cost close to double that, basically a record fee for a CB.

Our target number 1 FDJ is cheaper.

If he's leaving, we should do what we can to bring him in. He's only 22 and reuniting him with de Jong and ten hag would be huge. Beast in the air and physically while being good on the ball too.

Definitely think he's out of our budget, but if we can convince him to stay another year and get him next year, maybe?

I find it strange that Juve would allow De Ligt to leave considering they will be losing/have lost a few other defenders.
makes perfect sense if they know he isn't renewing and has two years left

This signing makes so much sense. Young CB who ETH trusts, will have a Dutch LB with him, a CM in front of him who he's played with, 22 years old, Juve willing sellers. We won't get him.

Am I doing this right?

This. If he doesn't renew, it makes sense to sell him now as next summer it will be tough to get good money for him and they year after he can leave for free.

He is also on very high wages and while he is a very good player, his wages were agreed under different economic circumstances. If we get a good price for him, the fee we will receive and his wages will probably cover a good replacement as well as another starting caliber player. We have quite a few holes to plug in our squad, so it does make sense to sacrifice him for the greater good.

Yeah well worth the insane fee Juve would demand if he's had that one good season then.

He's on the market.
We should definitely go for him, we won't get this chance any other time.

What a transfer window it would be if we get both him and Frenkie just as ten hag arrives due to the mess their clubs are in.

He’s been underwhelming at Juve tbh. Hasn’t kicked on at all. I would worry about how he would do in a much faster paced league.

Why is everyone keep saying this? He's very mistake prone but was easily their best defender last season and again only 22!

His pace might be problematic but pair him up with an agile and capable defender and im sure you would get the very best possession based defense around.

Being a foreign club must be great. Take chances on young players then have English sides take you out of the transfer hole when they don’t develop as well as we thought they would. Same goes for De Jong. I’m sure they’re all good players but this nonsense of getting their money back from buying him and having that as an accepted reason is bizarre.

de Ligt is one of my favourite young defenders around, and I'd absolutely love it if Man Utd signed him. He was by far Juventus' best defender last season.

I don't understand the hate he gets here, he had a rocky start to his Juve career 3 years ago, but has massively kicked on since then, yet people pretend and believe his career hasn't developed since his first 3 months in Italy.

As for someone saying he was recently dropped from the national team... van Gaal was rotating the team, or would you say van Dijk and de Jong were dropped as well?
Silly people posting opinions as fact when they haven't a clue and just go by hearsay or opinions from 3 years ago, kind of similar to the O.Dembele is unprofessional trope, when his only issue are his injuries.

Anyway, de Ligt is a great defender, he has every attribute you want in a top class modern centre back. Some posters say he is slow, well he isn't rapid, but he certainly is not Maguire slow. I'd say he has average speed compared to other defenders around.

It ridiculous. Part of the high fee (and wages) for those sorts of players is the promise of becoming the best in the world in their positions. Not living up to that doesn’t mean oh well. Time to get our money back from this apparently refundable bet.

Would me a massive signing for us and a massive boost for everyone linked to the club.

Which means that we will not get him.

Unless Chelsea signs Kounde and Neymar, meaning they used big part of their budget, leaving De Ligt free from competitions, and we sell Bailly and Jones, I don't see how we could get near him...

With Chiellini leaving this season I doubt Juve would let him leave for anything less than an astronomical sum. Even if he were to leave doubt he would look further than Chelsea

I've seen most of the Juve games since he gone there, im not denying the fact that he's still naive and prone to the occasional brainfart but to suggest that he's been subpar is dishonest.
As I've said easily their best defenderqst year with some exemplary performances sprinkled in.
Again he's only 22! Where was van djik at the same age, or many other great defenders of the past, his potential is up the roofs.

Timber is better
Who cares whether Timber or De Ligt is better. They complement each other perfectly and will be our starting centre backs a year from now!!! Prepare for a hijacking of Chelsea's deal for De Ligt...

They think Werner is overvalued at £35m but think £80m plus Jorginho is a fair price? What?!

There's no way we have that kind of money after the FDJ deal
Why not? If all we bring in is De Jong, Malacia and Eriksen on a free that's a net spend of 70m. I'd hope to god our warchest is bigger than that

I don’t watch Serie A at all - my question to those that do is how would he adapt in the Premier League - see that average/decent defenders in Tomori and Smalling seem to be highly rated there

Give them Martial, Jones and Telles + 15m euros. I think it's fair.
Could see them maybe being interested in Martial & Telles but can only see Jones being sold within England in a lower league.

If only Chelsea had Danny Drinkwater still on the books, Juventus couldn't refuse that as a part exchange
