Talk is we will buy Antony if Ronaldo goes.

How the feck does that make any sense.

We already have to buy an extra attacker. Ronaldo leaves and your gonna replace our only striker with a winger with poor numbers?

Ronaldo goes we need two attackers of very good quality. No ifs no buts no excuses.
ETH reached a CL semi final with Tadic as a flase 9 and DVB as a shadow striker. So its not like hes not done it before.

Doesn't mean it's a good idea week in week out for us in the PL. VDB has not even shown he's a competent footballer for us nevermind putting him up as a central part of our attacking threat this season.

You're right, DVB has proven nothing so far and relying on him would be a huge risk. But on the other hand - he hasn't actually been played in anything resembling his preffered position / system.

He's a proper system player, bought to what, play backup to a complete maveric in Bruno? It was a really, really stupid signing. Though his best hope at a resurgence is somehow finding himself again under the manager who made him perform so well in the first place, who understands what he needs to thrive.

To be super clear - I don't rate DVB at all on current evidence. He's been shite. But he hasn't been given anything resembling a fair chance to shine, like many of our current players, is what I'm saying.

I expect many players will look 100% improved under ETH.

The answer is already out there. We will go all in on convincing eriksen. Eriksen can play that false 9 role, similar to tadic. We will us martial as backup and hope he works out. Dvb to cover bruno

You can't replace Cristiano Ronaldo. We need two strikers at least from the names being mentioned to be anything close to making up for his lost presence / goals over the season to come.
And yet somehow we scored way more goals the season before he returned. 73 goals in prem in 20-21 vs 57 in 21-22.

Another player with an eye for a goal would certainly help us but we don’t need to panic and change our transferplans to get a super expensive striker or two

I don't like the idea but I think it's possible we bring Greenwood back into the team if he's not charged / convicted.

If Chelsea want Ronaldo could include Broja in any deal. ETH likes a target man so he might cause a meltdown by going for someone like Weghorst.

We don’t have funds for options like Omishen/Nkunku and even fees for likes of Etitike and Scamacca are crazy. Striker market is tough and be very easy to panic and blow a fortune on someone.

Point proved. We did that with several other players, not a single striker. And most of them are not available or in horrible form.

So Ronaldo goes then we need two more attackers minimum. Like I said.

I'd rather we go bust and City's owners buy us and make us their third team

Belotti is going on a free I believe? Would be an option as a classic Target Man type on a free. Dybala also, who seems like an accident waiting to happen, but who knows? Maybe he'd be keen to be our leading man.

Hlozek I think will be fantastic in a couple of years. Looks lined up to be Schicks replacement I guess?

Schick, Isak, Osimhen, Scamacca - All surely hugely overpriced. The Nunez deal will only have made this worse.

Jonathan David, Moussa Dembele - Perhaps Ligue Un would be better value?

It's a real head scratcher.

Edit:Forgot about Diaby. I think he'd be a good option, depending on cost.

It's besides the point. Our squad is awful and is getting worse player for player.

We are also keeping all the worst players as they have nowhere better to go

DCL, Everton already sold Richarlison, he’s a decent striker and Everton have ffp problems
DCL is not a decent striker. He's injury prone, finished the season with less goals than both Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend, and his team barely avoided relegation. Can people please stop suggesting him?

Don't fancy the Victor Osimhen shouts at all. How does he even have the reputation he currently does? I'd rather we pick up Belotti for free or go for a cheapie than spend big for a striker who is never going to be good enough.

The Bruno false 9 shouts makes me sick as well. The idea of him starting the majority of games at AM next season is already nauseating as it is, and sticking him upfront is even worse. The feck he doesn't even have a game close to being good enough for that role. What have you all been watching?
Just seen your location- you clearly must have seen a lot of Oshimen for the National side. Can you give a bit of insight into him and why you don't rate him? I'm sure I saw someone comparing him to Eto'o earlier in this thread and I was getting hyped on him then!

Seriously, would anybody consider Belotti? He's free.
As a backup maybe but Belotti can't be our 1st choice striker. It's not even like he's young. He got 8 goals last season, 13 goals the season before. Belotti should only be a consideration if we get our 1st choice striker and decide we could use another backup striker for squad depth.

Nkunku
Oshimen

Can't really think of another striker than is physical and fast enough to be a real force for us.

Nunez was the one.

No player is irreplacable and as good as he was at points last season, I would ssay this goes for 37year old Ronaldo too. Still a great player, one of very very few who could claim to be any more than embarrasing last season in all honesty, but this is 37year old ROnaldo still.

One name I see mentioend a bit is Omishen who I cant comment on as not really seen. Other mentioning the likes of Antony.

For me firstly, forget replacing ROnaldo the legend and Ronaldo the player. The most important thing is we need to replace a STRIKER, especially as the only geniune long term replacement we are quite possibly losing too in Greenwood.

Martial forget about, Rashford isnt a striker and again he isnt the answer on the wing let alone up front.

We simply wont have a single striker, we need two! Is the discussion viable when we havent even signed a ventral midfielder yet and are so far not even heavily linked with a defensive one.

We probably need to sign two and wont sign one. Personally of the players I do know, none of the names mentioned a lot are the answer, people like Schik as a second option isnt bad.

I would go for two younger players myself with huge potential. Said a million times and rarely see anybody mention him.... Amine Giouri should be signed regardleess of Ronaldo going or not, for me a potential superstar.

The other one is also French. Ekitike looks a little gangly, a little raw, but I think there is huge potential and ability about him, not to the same level, but he does remind me of a youner Henry

Bail literally just extended a few days ago with no confirmed end date...! There has to be one, but strange its not been confirmed.

Either way the recent extension is enough to mean we have to plan without him

Yeah signing two options sounds appealing but like you say probably won't even sign one

I'd play Fernandes as a false 9 with Sancho/Rashford and Antony overlapping him from the wide areas. We've been linked with Eriksen who's predominantly a CAM anyway.
