I said early in the thread that this was Fabregas#2.

Will spend all summer chasing a player who’s said publicly that he doesn’t want to leave only to panic in the last weeks and spunk 70m on a mediocre midfielder like Ruben Neves or Tielemans.

Shambles.

Apparently it’s his dream club. Guess it would come down to how much he likes the lifestyle there and can he live off of say 150k a week.

Does he also feel like they can compete going forward which is also a big question when it comes to moving to United.
It really depends how much the salary cut is for instance the players like Pique haven’t been paid at all and are owed back payments of 20m.

they will probably offer him some deferred payment or try and put him on a level with the other 25 year old players in the squad. Maybe 40% like Dembele.

I’m sure it’s already been said, but I suspect if the whole Laporta “we want to keep him but he needs to take a pay cut” statement is true, it’s probably his way of ensuring that if Barca do lose FdJ, that it makes Barca out as the good guys and the player as the mercenary.

Not saying it’s correct, but that might be the angle he’s playing.

Haha, the entitled prick Man United fan has already started to complain and whine like a bitch cause his precious little Frenkie toy "might not be coming".

All it needed was a random quote from Bartomeu, one he already said a few months ago anyway. It just shows how people are dumber and dumber with each passing day.

It's actually funny to see grown men post miserable stuff because of one quote. :D

Meanwhile, relax, he's coming and we all know that.

This is dragging on too much. And I am starting to wonder whether he really does want to come to OT.
What is our plan B.

How do we all know that exactly

To save face? To push the narritive that Barca aren't to blame and that economic factors played a huge part? To say they tried everything they could to keep him but HE didn't want to stay? To stay on the fans good side to enable him to have a good chance at reelection?
That would only work if he wanted to leave which he doesn't. Giving him a pay cut to stay ultimatum, and him refusing it isn't the same as him flatly choosing united over barca.
But maybe you're right and the optics are all that matters as the majority won't care about the details.

I love how 'doing everything they can to keep him' in fact means persuading him to take a massive pay-cut. That's some expert level bullshit.
When you think about it... doing everything they can to keep him kinda does imply that he does, in at least some part, want to leave?
If someone is adamant they want to stay, why would you need to do everything in your power to keep them? Surely if they wanted to stay that badly, taking a pay cut would be acceptable to him?

Honestly don’t give a feck if FDJ doesn’t want to come!!

saying that, what I am more concerned about if he doesn’t come is the fact that we have recruited no one yet who will help us get top 4!! You can’t rely solely on ETH!!

And if FDJ doesn’t come now (let’s be honest we all thought this was done and dusted), what’s the plan to sort out our midfield!!

I still hope that it’s Barcelona being Barcelona and nothing much but no one can disagree that if FDJ doesn’t come, it shows we haven’t learnt anything, absolutely anything!!

That too. His statement doesn't make logical sense.

Someone like Ronaldo, who has said he wants to leave and has doubts about our ambition, then yes, if we wanted him to stay, we'd do everything in our power to to try and get him to stay and convince him that we're going in the right direction in the hopes of changing his mind.
Someone like FdJ who has said he wants to stay, is at the biggest club in the world etc, you wouldn't need to do everything in your power to get him to stay. You'd simply tell him that if he wants to stay, he needs to accept a pay cut. Thats not everything in your power is it? Seriously does seem like they want him out, and they're painting the picture that he wants to go and when he does, it'll be due to reasons outside of their control

It is almost certainly just a case of Laporta saving face. He’s not for sale, but he’s wanted and we need to save money. Probably just posturing to appease the Barca fans and maybe to try and squeeze a few more € out of us to seal the deal. I wouldn’t worry about this lads.

We had until 1st July to buy him. Now Laporta coming out with this 2nd July is no coincidence. If FdJ lowers his wages substantially, he will stay.

Or we up our bid quite a bit and then they can turn around say we sold him for a profit as United made an offer we could not refuse in our situation..

Said months ago this was a waste of time I bet I’m proven right.
Fabregas: Club didn't want to sell that summer, club didn't need to sell that summer, player wanted to stay

Frenkie: Club wants to sell, club needs to sell, player isn't against leaving as he knows he's not wanted at the club

Yup, nearly identical scenarios from the get go

I'm going to be honest with you. I'm kind of torn in 2 minds. If there was an adequate back up available on his level I'd really want United to just back out of negotiations because of those quotes just to screw up Barcas whole summer window.

Maybe they'll have to sell 20% of Camp Nou ticket sales instead.

Thought a deal had been agreed for this? Why’s Romano keep typing different things. Why are people at Barca saying they’ll do everything they can to keep de Jong… if they keep him then they don’t get whoever it is they wanna buy. If de Jong is so set on staying then we need to move on as it’s no good having players that are joining purely just for the money and not because they want to.

I'm absolutely FULLY aware of their financial woes.

Again, you know the square root of sweet FA and what has or has not been agreed on June 30th. None of us do.

For Laporta to come out with such a strong statement suggests there is room for him to perhaps stay, albeit on a pay cut. Previously there was none.

Now grow up and stop being rude towards posters and stop pretending your some twitter ITK sort.
We literally saw the same behaviour from Laporte before Messi departed. Take it with a huge pinch of salt. He could as easily be trying to hurry United up into agreement

Oh please, all you Moaner Lisa’s should relax. Laporte hasn’t been unaware of Utd bidding for FDJ and knows he’s leaving but is making it seem as if they are fighting to keep him. When they make Lewa headway with Bayern and they do sell FDJ they will say the money was needed to push that through and other signings like Raphi. It’s all a game to them.

Who knows but he stressed many times that he prefers to stay so….
I’m sure Rooney preferred to stay, but he’d have fecked right off to City without that bumper deal. Same with Mane, same with Salah.

Rooney was English, born 40 mins down the road, won everything at United, under the greatest manager ever and had been at the club nearly a decade.
Yet Frenkie, a dutchman at clusterfeck Barca, won nothing, been there 2 and a bit years will take a massive paycut…. O…. K.

Only deluded Barça fans could truly believe this, because they think they are a special “more than a club” bollox. Something plenty of players have shown us lately aint the case.

I don’t even care anymore at this point. Just bring in a decent midfielder that improves the team. Whether that’s FDJ or someone else

I just wanted to point out the mistake you made at least 3 times since yesterday. If you repeat the same facts they should be correct at least, no?

You utter muppets seem to think your club is so special that players who’ve been there barely 5 minutes are so desperate to stay that they’ll take massive pay cuts, it’s as fecking stupid as believing Messi was worth his wages due to revenue.
Kind of you to generalize. Believe it not, enough barca fans are rational and knew Messis salary was way too high. Especially after his latest renewal and that redicously high loyalty bonus. Social Media attracts all kind of success fans. Doesn't mean all fans are like that.

You lot really live in a World of your own with the more than a club bollox, and you’ve learned nothing the past 5 years, you’re not special, not different, and your superstars, Messi, Neymar etc care more about themselves than the club, just as they do at all other clubs.
Maybe you should learn history first. "Mes que un club" is primary a political statement, not a marketing motto most clubs have. It's not barca's fault success muppets take this slogan and misinterpret it to annoy people on the web. Here we're talking about generalization again. Yes, we are politically speaking "different". The club was always a mouthpiece of the catalan people to fight against Franco's regime. In sports we are no different, just another football squad.
But let's end this offtopic here, especially since you generalize too much for my taste without even looking up your "facts".
