very much agree with this one. what do you expect De Jong to say? that i want to leave for MU? it's like saying to Barca you can't forget the salary you owed to me. I will move to MU anyway. De Jong's side need to create this bluff to force Barca to pay what they owed or they will have to continously pay De Jong at current wage + what they owed. Also it's safer for De Jong (in fans' perspective) in case he stays at Barca to say he wants to stay due to its his dream club (while in fact I believe he has told us that he will definitely join us should Barca have paid what they owed). I believe this could be dragging until trf deadline day. If no others club interested in FdJ (and willing to cover owed salary), Barca will definitely sell FdJ to us by lowering the fee and us to pay FdJ what Barca owed.

I think there is an element of de Jong not wanting to burn any bridges with the supporters, as we may think a return to Barca is on the cards if ten Hag fails at United. As much as i want FDJ at Utd, it is a bit crap of Barcelona to treat him this way. They want him gone for financial reasons or because he doesnt fit their requirements going forwards then fine. Don't feck around. Give him what he's owned and get on with it.
