If Erik counts Eriksen as a CM and Frenkie as a DM in his system we'll hopefully cover most of the priorities in this window already.

LB - Malacia
CB - Martínez
DM - Frenkie
CM - Eriksen
RW - Antony

GK - 23/24 Sánchez
RB - 23/24 Timber/Dumfries
ST - 23/24 Nkunku
This is my guestimation as well. Not sure about the names for 23/24, but those are probably the positions we'll look to strengthen. Sánchez could make sense, but Dumfries isn't a ETH sort of RB and I doubt Timber will move to play RB when all the top clubs will be after him. I'd personally like to see Osimhen more than Nkunku, but great choice no less.

It was always clear that Frenkie and Antony couldn't be signed in the same window. Martinez made it even more impossible.

What else are we gonna do ? Rely on Rashford and Elanga ?
Rashford, Sancho, Bruno, Eriksen, VDB and Martial for goals under an ETH system. I don't think we'd struggle as much as people think. If Ronaldo goes we'll get an attacker for sure.

Yeah I think it’s Frenkie and maybe a striker and then we’re done.

There were reports weeks before the window opened that it would be expected that Ten Hag got the most out of the existing squad whilst being supplemented with a few signings.

I think the powers at be see midfield and defence as more of a pressing concern than attack.

I dont think that is true. I even think we have to try sign them considering the progress made by Arse, Chelsea and Spurs.

Relying on these three is a recipe for disaster.

What's this nonsense about not wanting to anger Ajax. We're paying them! They're a listed company FFS

If ETH gets Frankie on top of what he has already has, then a Top 4 finish should be possible without Antony.

One for next summer I recon...he can bring Timber as well.

Rashford had a torrid time last season, but in the 3 seasons before that he got 13, 22, and 21 goals respectively. That's a good take. If ten Hag can get him back up to speed, he could be an asset.

You thought we would spend 150 million on the pair? Really?

We would never be able to sign two key Ajax players in one year.
We’re not at the past tense stage of ‘thought’ - the window is still open, and by all accounts, those players are our leading targets that we are looking at. I’m also not sure the invoice is 150m either.

I've seen Osimhen 5/6 times and he was always very underwhelming to me. I don't think he's anything special at all.

Jonathan David is a gamble as well, but I'd take him ahead of Osimhen. Young talented #9s are very rare though.

I honestly think the best thing on the market is Cody Gakpo doing a Van Persie. Too bad he's convinced he's a winger.

There's no way Ajax let him go now. I think he stays for this season but hopefully we can revisit this next summer. However, we do need to sign at least one attacker this window, with or without Ronaldo departing.

I think we'll sign him in this window. I'm leading the hypothesis that the reason we paid as much as we did for Martinez is so we get a reduced price for Antony. In doing this, Ajax will pay less of the transfer fee to Antony's club, who has a 20% sell on clause.

Ajax will happily replace him, they just want to be heavily compensated first.

Lets not pretend they won't pick out another young south american winger and start the whole cycle again.

There are quite a few valuable players in our squad that can generate decent money that will help fund both FDJ and Antony this summer and I wouldn’t be surprised that we already have firm buyers lined up and ETH are using the preseason games to run a final assessment.
  1. Bailly or Lindelof
  2. McT
  3. AWB
  4. Telles
  5. Tuanzebe
  6. Williams
It’s also about time we need to act more decisively with our youth products, if ETH doesn’t see them being anywhere near ready for our first team squad in the near future then we should really look at offloading some of these players, or at least send them to PL clubs for the likes of Garner and Elanga who I am confident will get plenty of PL game time this coming season
  1. Pellistri
  2. Amad
  3. Garner
  4. Elanga

Well of course everyone has a price but they really don't want to sell another star player according to reports. I think it would have to be an insane fee for them to accept.

Is he? You might be right.

As a winger I have my doubts about him but with his finishing quality his potential as a striker may be bigger.

They've let Gravenberch, Mazraoui (although free agents), Haller and Lisandro. If we're really interested in Antony, which I hope so, I think we can get him. Ajax is a selling club.

I think he looks really good, and is quite a goalscorer. He's tall, so I think he could be easily converted as a striker.

I'm not usually really excited about young dutch players from Eredivisie (ptsd from Depay :D), but he really looks good, and better than Depay did in his old days imo.

They asked for a fortune for Lisandro because they did not want to sell. Antony will be even more.

Antony along with Gakpo from PSV as the central striker option looks very interesting. I agree with the above poster and think he could develop into a very good central striker.

There has to be another Luiz Diaz out there. I’m not convinced this guy is worth 80m/pissing Ajax off.

Exactly what this poster has said. They will demand a ridiculous fee because they've let all those players go. They do not want to sell any more star players so it will have to be a ridiculous bid to get him and I just don't see that.

Ten Hag said himself that we're trying to strengthen midfield and attack in the transfer market. We haven't shown our hand yet for an attacker but Antony has the strongest links to us so far and we know ETH seems to really rate him.

He was asked about Sancho on the RW that other day and he made a non committal answer about the situation, which makes me think he's still hoping we'll get Antony.

Not sure this is a target we should die on especially given that price. There are other RWs like Olise and Neto. We could also just ride with Sancho and Pellistri this season and get an LW instead to compete with Rashford who isn't exactly someone we can rely on as a starter. The LW market is pretty solid with the likes of Danjuma, Gapko, Gouiri

Olise and Neto?

I’m not sure I’m overly content with Europa League football moving forward.

I’m team give Amad a chance, so I’m okay with Sancho playing RW and Amad getting minutes off the bench.

Unlike Barcelona, Ajax will never have financial difficulties. We will send over to them plenty.
