Thomas Frank has been out saying that he talked to Eriksen in person about going to United and Eriksen thanked him for the time they worked together at Brentford.
Thomas also said every Brentford fan should thank Eriksen for his time. Called it a succesfull relationsship and wished him the best of luck at United.

Soooo.. In regards to that inside knowledge about Eriksen shitting all over Frank and the rest of the Brentford Management..

I'mgonna call that out as BS now..

This is the type of signing that doesn't get all the hype, but he will do wonders for our team on a whole. Excellent distributor of the ball (passing, through balls, free kicks and corners), he will allow us to play quick possesion-based football.

Also with 5 subs next season and ETH's energy draining pressing, he will be a great squad player to have. He will start a lot of games, then rotate, he also covers CM, DLP, AM and can play on the left or right of midfield. Great versaltile signing!!

What squad number will be have? @Man-United #Denmark
He wore 21 at Brentford and 24 at Inter, both are available although it is possible they'd hold 21 for De Jong if that is likely to go through.

Otherwise we've currently got 6, 14, 15, 18 and 26 available below 30. 13 too but no.

Ten Hag said neither Eriksen or Martinez will join as they wouldn't have enough time to train or anything by the time they travel and get past the jet lag.
That makes complete sense. There are only 4 friendlies remaining before the season kicks off on the 7th so makes sense to have both in Manchester, rather than fly them across the world for less than 2 weeks

He should be with the squad for the game vs Atletico in Oslo. But I just realised we're playing Rayo Vallecano the very next day at OT??? That doesn't make too much sense. I assume we will have to play two entirely different squads.

It's been said that the A team will place against Atletico and the B against Rayo.

It's weird that we have scheduled these games one after another though.

I'd guess the team that starts vs Atletico will likely be our starting 11 in the first game of the season.

I think it is so as many players as possible can get to play 70 mins or more close to the start of the new season rather than just the first team. Think we've done the same in previous seasons.

I think this as well, it will give us a good hint of wether Ten Hag is thinking about starting McFred or not.

Superb at corners too. Hopefully we make the most of it when he plays.
Definitely. Most times it is a waste if we get a corner or freekick. Wouldn't you think Ronaldo would relish the balls that could be coming his way and the goals he could get. If he wasn't so obsessed with his battle with Messi.

Yeah it makes sense, hopefully we don't get trashed by Rayo. It good to keep the momentum going even if it's only preseason.

Interesting that ETH seems him primarily as a #10, but seems like he will also play in the double pivot at times. Probably alongside one of McT/Fred.

Its where he's always played. He'll make part of a midfield 3 with Fred/McTom and hopefully Frenkie, or he'll occasionally play instead of Frenkie and Bruno as the 10. My guess is Bruno is more part of the front 3 next season.

I'm so glad we got him because it makes me relaxed about the very likely possibility of missing out on De Jong. Hopefully one or two of the young centre midfielders can step up if that's the case.

For spurs he played primarily on the right wing of a 4231 system. Dele Alli at 10 and Son at left wing. Dembele/Sissoko/Dier as the holding mids.

Really happy with this is signing - can we see him working his way in as a starter? I'd like to see it. I've been really frustrated with Bruno - wasteful, undisciplined and a moaner. I'm hoping that the mess that was last season was a big part of that and he can become a better player under ten Hag. If he does I'm not sure how Eriksen can be a starter. Chances are Bruno will be as wasteful as ever and Eriksen will work his way in. You do need a squad though, clearly. I'm not sure how Bruno, Eriksen and Donny will be incorporated but excited to see how it goes.

I think every United fan on the planet will be happy with this transfer but not sure what Ten Hag’s intentions are formation and tactics-wise. If we are playing some sort of 4-3-3 with two attacking CMs, then I think this is the perfect signing, Bruno and Eriksen together would be lethal, but if we intend to continue with the 4-2-3-1/4-5-1, I’m not sure where Eriksen plays especially if we get De Jong. I understand wanting a backup/sub for Bruno when he’s tired or not playing well, I just don’t think Eriksen is the type of player, with the quality he has, that will be content sitting the bench waiting to replace Bruno. He’s too good for that. Some fans will argue he would replace Bruno, but I doubt it. Despite dips at times last season, Bruno has played too well since his arrival to just be dropped. He’s too important a member of the squad for Ten Hag to realistically drop him.
The main formation is 4-2-3-1, the others could be used here or there. What matters most is to get the results and in the meantime continue the transition to the positional play which needs some time for players to learn, practice, and apply. The procedure won’t be short but also won’t be too long.

Eriksen in the role VDB is playing today would add a lot to the team.

I know there were concerns about playing him in a nominally deeper role but in reality we've seen McTom/VDB taking up quite advanced positions.

I think people are overestimating preseason performances. Players don’t care about preseason games and no one gives 100%. That’s why there’s a lot more room to play and offensive players have it easier. More time on the ball and defenders are not all over you. Also not much fighting in the midfield compared to normal games. That’s why you see some players look like prime Messi in preseason and you get preseason Pirlo nicknames.

A Bruno, Eriksen and Fred midfield would get overrun/outfought. It might work in some games, especially later if we need a goal or against weaker sides, but there’s just not enough steel in that midfield.

i think people will understand when they see Eriksen play and how weakhe is defensively. He is worse than Bruno defensively. He is really, really weak.

I think he is far superior to Bruno defensively due to his ball retention and he is also not afraid to put a foot in where needed.

Agree with that midfield can't play against the top 6 sides but would be fine against the majority of the league. We should be so good going forward against the likes of Fulham, Brentford, Brighton etc we don't have to be concerned at that midfield being over ran.

I thought Eriksen played very deep against us for Brentford and was the best player on the pitch.

Eriksen is extremely afraid to get stuck in. He pretty much won’t tackle. He will try and nick the ball away from the opponent, but he will not go for any 50/50 tackles. He will also never make a sliding tackle. I’m not even sure if he have ever done a single one. I think people are in for a bad surprise if they think Eriksen can play in a 2 man midfield or as one of the pivots.

Eriksen plays very deep, like a deep lying playmaker, but it’s always in a midfield 3 with 2 players that will do the defensive work.

I think people sometimes confuse Eriksens excellent stamina for defensive work. He runs a lot, more than most players, because he is both the deep lying playmaker and the CAM. Or kinda a hybrid between a DLP and a CAM. So he helps build up plays from deep and then he runs up and helps the forwards around the box

But he doesn’t do much defensively. He is not aggressive at all and he is more just there to plug holes like most CAMs do.
