Hopefully we wont be a stepping stone for Bayern and the likes, and he is looking to build a true legacy here
Pretty sure he's just saying that he knows he has to perform from the off, as opposed to Moyes attitude of "I've got 6 years, so there's no rush".

I don't think we should get worried about ETH stating is De Jong or no one. He probably knows more than anyone of us here the quality he needs in a player for that holding midfield role in his system and if he feels no one on the market offers more than the options he has available now for the role, that's fine with me. I am quite sure if McTominay and Fred do not perform to his standard, one of the youngsters would be trained specifically for that role and we just so happen to be blessed with quite a few talented midfield options from the academy.

Barca with the likes of Nico, Pedri, Gavi show you can trust young players and with the likes of Iqbal, Hannibal, Hansen, Mainoo, Gore coming through in the next few years, with a coach like Ten Hag at the helm, I think we are in safe hands.

Talking about youngsters with no pl experience filling our gaps in midfield is the kind of ridiculous nonsense you hear every pre season. Iqbal and hannibal are probably closest to the first team but neither is best suited to a double pivot anyway. Garner is closer to being ready but we still don't know he is even a pl player let alone one ready to play for a champions league team

If ETH really thinks there isn't anyone better than what we have available then I would have to doubt his judgement but not sure he does

Apparently the club identified Torres to improve defence but Ten Hag wanted Martinez. You'd think we'd have identified a midfielder too, so if we can't get de Jong then we should go for plan B. Sticking with Fred and McTominay would be ridiculous
Weird thing in this discussion about the middield is that I never see Donny’s name pop-up. Keep in mind that Donny is also one of TH’s pupils. He’ll get a chance in there.

Imagine not signing anyone after spending the whole fecking summer chasing De Jong

Would be fecking abysmal to say the least.
Yeah despite some people being so confident it gets done I still can't help feeling we will be left with egg on our faces

I don't mind him prioritising players he knows well in his 1st season, but he needs to trust our scouting network to some point. Going without a cm again this season is absolutely not acceptable.
This is a joke right?

Fortunately for Garner and us, we're a Europa League team. Agree with you that the kids are not ready. The only way I see the kids getting in is if we start hitting opponents 4-0 and they come on for the final 10-15 minutes. Last season Elanga was pressed into service and his enthusiastic runs papered over some of his technical limitations, but it's clear he shouldn't be considered a starter except in an emergency.

Pellistri, Amad, Laird, Savage, Iqbal, Hannibal are promising but it would be a make-or-break moment for them that would most likely break them. I'd love to see all of them get minutes in the cup competitions and in the PL if we're hammering someone, but it's too early to think any of them can step up. The lone exception would be Garner. He's closer than the others and hopefully can make the jump. Ironically if he were still at Forest he would have made the jump to PL player, as he was instrumental in their promotion. Whether he's a good PL player remains to be seen. I'm hopeful. I wonder what people were saying of the Brentford players right before last season kicked off?

Eriksen, Malacia, Martinez, Hakimi, De Jong, Antony

Doubt that's gonna happen though haha
Even if we get 5 (Eriksen, Malacia, Martinez, De Jong, Antony) of those signings it will be a fantastic transfer window compared to how we were chasing superstars who were more interested in getting better contracts from their clubs when we had that clown, Woodward.

Antony I highly doubt. Hakimi as well.

I don't know whom I'd like to see more in the squad - a striker or RW. I truly hope that Ronaldo leaves and IF we can manage somekind of an amazing swap deal with Ronaldo-Joao Felix, that'd be very very interesting. He might be superb in ETH style, but have no idea how club's funds are and what's the asking price for him. I hope max 70 mil in a swap deal, otherwise we'd be screwed.

And unable to sell Telles, AWB and some CB's, it's pretty difficult to generate some additional money for making Felix happen.

About RB, I actually don't know. Dumfries would be too attacking I guess, I'd like to see more balanced one in the team, but of course - ETH knows the best and I trust him.

Thanks Mo. So nothing at all different.
Reports from sport in the last day or so said he had said no to United and that he doesn't want to join, this contradicts that.

De Jong has reiterated his preference to stay but he hasn't rejected United.

I thought no one was believing the sport bullshit and that we all knew he hadn’t said no to us.

Source:
Barça already know that Chelsea are preparing a formal proposal for Frenkie de Jong.

In the last few hours, [the] London [club] have expressed their firm desire to sign the Dutchman.

Manchester [United] is not seducing the player, neither in sporting nor in personal terms.

From the same ten Hag interview:
I would like to sign English players because I think there is only one criteria and that's quality in combination with the price. It looks like English players are quite expensive. It's a fact you cannot deny. In the end, it's about quality.
