If he can’t find a club, then he should just buy out the rest of his contract.

Another crazy scenario would be for him to agree to a possible extension, and then we loan him out for the season, to a Champions League club.

He would then return, and hopefully we would be in the Champions League.

This is what the media is saying. People take every rumor as undeniable truth.it’s clearly turning into a Ronaldo bashathon at this point. They are just going to keep linking him to as many clubs as possible.
I wish this entire 'blaming the mejia' for everything would stop. There has been tremendous miscarriages of justice due to media not being an independent authority and parroting the government lines but that doesn't apply to Ronaldo's transfer situation for feck sake.

Aka, he does not want to press.
Bayern and Nagelsmann hardly make sense then. Come to think of it, not many big teams would.

Maybe Juventus and Allegri but that won’t happen obviously. I’m running out of non-pressing forward lines at big clubs.

On the other hand, he can retire or move to his boyhood club in Portugal where he will get the support and play in UCL and be in peak condition and fit to go for the WC. Everyone is the winner here. Just that he has to forego his massive wages. Ronaldo gets UCL and a club that supports his style of play, His fans in Portugal club and country are happy, we remove a potentially problematic issue at our club, save wages, his fanbase can trot out the 'It's never been about the money, you see' trope.

What's not to like? I will still call him a tremendous douchebag because of the timing and everything but we can't all be winners.

At this point I feel he needs to leave. Would tarnish his legacy further if he stayed and threw a strop everytime he was dropped or didn't press hard enough.

We don't need a 38 year old to lead the line anymore. It doesn't fit with the new managers way of playing.

Perhaps that's exactly what will happen and what Ronaldo also needs. I just hope that doesn't affect our results

I am very concerned at this blatant age discrimination.

Fortunately at United, we don't engage in that. Ronaldo should stay here where he's loved, respected and where his age is irrelevant.

I mean, duh? He hard vetoed Conte back in September/October and told the club in January he would leave (lol) if Rangnick was still the permanent coach.

He's 37, going on 38. Still a good player, but he needs to be realistic about his own future prospects. Teams are always looking towards younger players, not older ones. He struck it lucky with us because of sentiment, not because we particularly needed a player like him.

If he wants to leave, ring up Mourinho. Roma might have a spot.

Sick of the Ronaldo talk now.

If he doesnt want to be here, simple.... let him go....... we currently payng him 400k plus per week for him to be in Portugal whilst his agent is pimping him around ....

He may well be the GOAT but the way this has been handled leaves a sour taste, and somewhat ruins the legacy he has built up in my eyes.

He should come out, make a statement of his intentions and we should just move on. No player bigger than the club, no one.

If he can press like a 21 year old, we wouldn't be bothered about his age.

But he can't. Because age.

I like Ronaldo, and I get his frustration at last season. That said, he also left a club that went on to have a shit season, so it's not like he gave up an amazing club and team, he's also 37, and his attitude to having to occasionally sit on the bench at 37 is fecking disgusting and creates an unnecessary media frenzy.
He's turns 38 during the season, and he really should have enough self awareness to be happy if ETH wanted him to be a part of this new team and era. Or maybe ETH told him he'll have to accept bench time and he lost his shit, who knows, but as big a fan as I have been, I'll have no sympathy whatsoever if ETH tells him to sling his hook and even asks the club to make him a free agent and pay out the last year of his deal.

Not sure which top club could take his wage and his attitude to the inevitable bench time he'd have to deal with. Feel he's really shot himself in the foot here.

I really thought he will be staying and he can't join pre-season due to family reasons. But now I think he really wanted to leave. It took less than an hr for him to quash the sporting link. There is nothing stopping him in the last one month to go on social media to quash news of him wanting to leave.

I don't see how he can walk right back into the dressing room and demand to start after this. At this moment it might be even better for him to leave.

Ronaldo bettering his last season doesn’t equal a better season for United.

The problem is Ronaldo will better his last season? Interesting...
Will the team become better overall?

If Ronaldo scores 30 goals but the team in total ends up scoring less goals, it’s not as simple as saying “well, he did his part.” It’s especially obvious when you see how his presence in a team changes the way the team plays.

Lets look at the facts. Ronaldo goes to Juventus, scores loads of goals, but the team implodes. He goes to United, who finished 2nd in the league, scores loads of goals, the team implodes.

3 pre-season games with a front 3 of Rashford, Martial and Sancho and we are pressing aggressively, winning the ball higher up the pitch, scoring loads of great goals. We look like a proper team again.

There is a reason why Europe's elite don't want Ronaldo. Everywhere he goes, it becomes the Ronaldo show. And football is a team sport.

If we can get some money for him, and take 26m off the wage bill, I would be happy to invest it into a new striker who can lead the line and play as a team. Deep down, we all know this and we've all had our fun with this nostalgia trip, but I'd rather watch a season of team created goals, like that second goal against Palace, than hoping Ronaldo can score us a last minute header, before twirling in the corner.

Later RVN all over again. The individual does well but the team ,overall, less so.

Who would pay £380-450k/week for the limited contributions he brings to any club?

Why wouldn't the team become better overall? Ten Hag is an actual coach & manager, not a mascot like Ole. There seems to be some hivemind thought process that has convinced itself that Ronaldo somehow made the team bad, despite him creating chances for the other forwards, holding up the ball & showing good link-up play on top of scoring regularly. Ronaldo put chances on a plate for players like Sancho & Rashford last season & they missed sitters, would they have scored if it wasn't Ronaldo that passed the ball to them? I doubt that very much.

No one, exactly. If he seriously wants to go, he needs to significantly reduce his wage demands and expect shorter term contracts.

Everything is relative isn't it? I'm sure clubs would happily sign him on a 1 year rolling contract at 100-150k a week to be a squad player, but not on 400k a week for 3 years.

Don't think it's about pressing. He basically said he doesn't want to carry a team. He wants to be the crown jewel in a world class team. Or I guess just play for the best teams in world.

So many “let’s hope he’s off soon” people are the same “SIUUUUUUUUU” weirdos creaming themselves when he scores. The tap in he gets in his first game back and all will be forgotten.

It’s hilarious how the general narrative on this guy has constantly shifted on here since his return. After the way he started there were threads on how he’s our best ever player, then there was the huge insecurity about he was the only shining light in what was turning into a bad season, then he was the major problem, then he needed to feck off ASAP during that new year drought, then he was apparently completely carrying us and the only one fit the wear the shirt, now the sooner he fecks off the better.

Make no mistake the general narrative will change again.
Pretty much in a nutshell.

So far you have Chelsea, Atletico, Bayern and Barca coming out saying we have been offered Ronaldo by Mendes. But you feel like it's a bashathon at this point ?
Where did you see the clubs actually coming out to do this? Link me.

The only club who have categorically denied any Ronaldo related rumours are Bayern. Tuchel was pretty coy on the matter and never actually properly discussed it with the media.
