Probably means he doesn’t have to move house either. Going to WHU would mean buying an expensive property in London
Not like he couldn’t afford it… there’s only 1 reason he chose forest and that was for money. West Ham will be fighting for Europa league spots whilst forest will be trying to stay up. Small mentality from lingard.

Usually wish our ex players all the best but hope he flops so that we don't see too many of his antics on twitter, insta or whatever. He would love to say I told you so to United...

Imagine being either a Forest supporter or player right now.

Watching him come in on probably 4 or 5 times the highest earner.

You have to wonder which genius in their PR team thought that video was wise too.
Dribbling in bling, teenage style stupid comments, and that bizarre Hope thing?!

Just plain weird.

Their top earner is at less than £20k?

Watching his introduction video nearly gave me a seizure.

Looks like its still all about instagram likes and his brand and not his football, which is the shame as he is a talented player. Just uses football as a sideshow instead of putting his talents into it.

I can't understand the negativity towards this. Does everyone remember how good he was for West Ham? Ok he rubs some people the wrong way but he's a good player and will do well for Forest. It's a brilliant signing for a newly promoted team.

He's one of the buzz players to blame the world on of late. He is fecking annoying but it's not a crime is it.

He'll probably do well for them, similar to how he did at West Ham. Surplus to requirements at United.

I agree.

Although I get why people are allergic to him, its a great signing for Forest if he gets back to his West Ham form (no reason he shouldnt either).

And screw West Ham anyway.

Oh Forest, what have you done.

I don’t know, Jessie is at his best when counter-attacking so it might work for a promoted team. That dressing room though…

Well this Premier league malarkey is interesting - very different to the last time we indulge. As has been mentioned, the his wage is £80k basic upto £120k with bonuses - not massively different to Henderson’s.

We got promoted based on the speed of our counterattacks on field, but it was the unity and togetherness Cooper instilled off field that made the difference. I doubt Cooper would buy Lingard if he thought he would be a problem. Bookies have cut our odds for a top 6 finish from 80 to 50/1.

The meltdown in here about his wages when it has actually transpired he's on a little more than what he was at United.

The state of this place at times:lol:

Torn on this, Forest I love and so happy to see them back, my second team so to speak, so hope he does really well.....

However he's a massive prick and thought he was nailed on for West Ham. So, so happy he's gone, he undermined multiple managers here and, for some reason thinks he's the dogs bollocks and thought he should be starting every game even though he's gash. Never recovered from the Florida videos, which actually effected Rashford in a bad way also.

So ...yeah......I don't know.

I wanted Forest to do good this season and now they go and sign this guy. Relegation level player probably found its level.

If it's only advertised as 80k a week you know he'll have got a huge signing on fee. Even if it's a few million it's probably worth the punt for Forest if gives them an increased chance of survival.

Curious whether it was Lingard or Forest who pushed for a 1 year deal. Can see pros and cons for both club and player.

Also delighted he's finally gone. I don't hate him as others do, but his mediocrity and lack of substance is representative of our decline in recent years.

Looks like he’s on less than he was here. Think he was on 100k here and reportedly on 80k at Forest.

Wonder what that West Ham offer was if this £80k at Forest is (what you'd assume) significantly more!
A reality check for Lingard and Pogba that ultimately 'big' clubs don't always just aimlessly give away big money deals. They probably do a bit of research first to see what your performances have been like in the last couple of years. That research seems to have meant few offers and those that they got were less than their United deals.

He really is a prize bellend.

I actually think it’s a good place to be for him from a footballing perspective, however.

£80k a week for Forest? Great deal for them and a huge positive for them. He's a good player and should immediately be their best player.

Not good enough for United but he should do well. He's very cringy but don't get why some hate him so much. I just laugh at him and shrug. Hope he does alright.

The vitriol towards him is over the top.

Was quite happy to see Forest come back up but can’t bring myself to root for em now with this moron playing for em.

Those videos as well, feck sake man. Is there a more cringeworthy footballer in operation today? He makes Pogba look like Denis Irwin by comparison.

So which is it, £80k or £200k?

Why would he sign for the former? Doesn’t make sense... Unless WHU retracted or lowered their offer?

There is a lot of inside info from West Ham, going back months, that Lingard was demanding £180k a week. West Ham's offer was apparently £150k a week; even that seems unwise to me.

The breakdown will be £80k a week basic salary + £5m sign on fee split over the course of 1 year (length of deal) so £180k a week.

There is no way Lingard rejects a permanent deal at Newcastle last January, rejects an offer from Everton, rejects West Ham, to sign for Forest for £80k a week in total. Even this summer, Newcastle pulled out because Lingard's financial demands were considered excessive.

At some point several years ago, Lingard clearly decided he would leave United on a free transfer in order to maximise his earnings. He has been willing to sacrifice playing time just for this moment. Forest met his financial demands, no other PL side did.

It all seems astonishing to me but you only need follow the timeline to see what has happened. Once Bruno Fernandes arrived, that was the time to leave, either in that same January transfer window if possible, or more likely the following summer, especially after spending months as an unused sub.

Go be butthurt somewhere else. Liking your team’s best player being some sort of stupidness shows where we are as a fanbase these days.
Anyone unironically using the phrase "butthurt" can't be taken seriously. About anything. Ever.
