Apologies if this has already been suggested, but are we missing a trick by not suggesting a 12-month loan deal with option to purchase afterwards? I see this as a way of sorting out the “owed“ money:
  • We pay Frenkie’s “base“ salary (which would be more than Barca are proposing)
  • Barca can spread some of what they “owe” him over those twelve months, massively reducing their FFP liability
  • The option to buy could be contingent on us playing in the CL next season in case that genuinely is an issue for Frenkie or he really does not want to leave his dream club.
Everyone is happy. What am I missing?

He's legally not allowed to express any interest in wanting to join another club or he'll give up the money
Pretty sure that’s not true. But that’s not to say he would express any interest anyway.

Clubs normally have transfer request clauses in contracts, whereby players lose loyalty bonuses by handing in official transfer requests.

I think you guys are laughing too soon. Chelsea specifically do want him next year when Jorginho's contract ends.

By structuring it as a loan, Barca will get Chelsea to pay one year of FdJ's inflated contract (deferred wages). He will give up on the other year's worth of deferred wages I presume. So it's meeting in the middle between the club / player.

If this is an option though I don't understand why we won't be in for it unless the rumors were true and FdJ doesn't want to go to a club that's not in the CL.
I am not sure why any employee has to giveup even a penny of his preagreed salary. That too while leaving the company. There is zero chance of meeting in the middle. Deferred salary makes sense, giving up doesnt, especially when the club is making 60+ millions in sale.

There was some BS tweet about a loan deal this afternoon and it’s been discussed a bit over the last few pages. I think Barca want rid and want the transfer money. Loan must at least be possible but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s even more complicated than selling the poor sod.

We didn't wrap up earlier deals because of the FDJ saga - false, we've signed two midfielders.
ETH has already said he sees Martinez as a CB, and Eriksen as primarily a #10. Our pressing need was in the holding midfielder position.

Also, your whole point seems to be its not CONFIRMED yet that FDJ will stay at Barca. While I have never said he will, I just said its looking likely. So yeah, not really interested in your strawman arguments.

That is our wish, not his. His first preference is stay at Barca and get his promised wages.
But I think it is established, beyond reasonable doubt, that Barca cannot afford to pay him. I don’t know if that means the club will vaporise or what but it is obviously not good.

I dont think United would have any issue in it.

One issue here is if it is 1 year loan with mandatory buy clause for next year, does it help Barcelona in balancing the books this year? Not sure, Maybe a huge loan fee could do it

Other issue is, seems Barcelona dont want to pay the salary owed. Are they okay to pay it next year?

We might need to keep a few muppets on suicide watch with the way this saga is progressing.

Barcelona is still playing games with stories in the media, trying to offload FDJ without paying him. They will certainly get a bit more nervous towards the 12th August when the season starts. They signed all this players, yet they can't register no one. And for this they need Frenkie to be sold, so I think this will start to unravel with the start of La Liga.

The problem is De Jong doesn’t want to leave. Barca would be more than happy to take the 80 million and get rid of his massive wage. But if we could at least get rid of the salary for a year that would be better than keeping a player who's gonna be hated by the fans and substitute to Christiansen and Pique.
Fixed.

I'm sure he would start, costing what he would cost, but it wouldn't improve them at all. Their midfield is not the issue and arguably is up there with one of the best in the league, albeit somewhat aging.

Again, why would he agree to a loan to Chelsea and not us? One year in the CL means absolutely nothing and it's not like they're even remote favourites.
FDJ would be a serious upgrade on Jorginho (who incidentaly has only a year left on his contract and may move back to Italy) , so I disagree that he wouldn't improve us at all. The reason Chelsea have been concentrating their transfer business on defenders has to do with us losing two centrebacks and two fullbacks and the need to replace them.

I'm sure if Tuchel was offered a chance to sign FDJ, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

When this transfer first kicked off, there was talk about Barca wanted more upfront fee for accounting. I doubt they would go for a loan

Evidence? No shit.

The player is purposely tight lipped and what is he expecting from United? Text messages or recorded phone-calls between Ten Hag and De Jong?

Until Barca and the player agree the terms of his settlement, that won’t be any evidence of a preference for any club. We can only guess that due to the relationship of the player and manager and United seemingly happy to wait it out, that we’ve had assurances that he’d be very interested.
There’s no evidence either he’d wanna join Bayern if they matched our bid, but I bet he fecking would.

I’m not sure why he thinks there would be evidence here.

Loan plus option/obligation to buy offers work out for a club that

a) Can't afford the fee charged by Barca for Frenkie this summer because of other priorities but like the player.

b) Frenkie would be ok to leave Barca for.

And Barca get rid of his salary for this year, so a part of deferred wages are taken care of

Does he have evidence that he doesn't want to join apart from what the bullshit Spanish press are reporting?
No but that doesn't fit the agenda.

There is absolutely no chance the club would be so persistent like this unless they had assurances from the player. It's as simple as that. We are badly run but we're not that silly.

Anyone has link for this?

This poster posts some random things and when asked for links or proofs, he will just switch to something else.

Tagging our chief transfer Muppet officers.

Not heard or seen anything about that at all. Unless it was posted in Sport? If it was true we'd have heard about it via the usual Chelsea journos. They've not mentioned a thing, so I'm guessing this guy is chatting shite

Actually my whole point was that you put about 5 different lies in your original post. If you wanna just be a negative person who gets a thrill over crapping all over the club you supposedly support, then you do you fella.

Meanwhile, hope we sign the guy - no biggie.

Quick Google search brings up a Mirror article:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/chelsea-frenkie-de-jong-transfer-27599386.amp

And surprise surprise look what's contained in it:
Yeah I got the mirror link when I google, but this guy said " The fact that Tuchel is admitting they’ve been approached to buy De Jong, " So I was expecting some quotes from Tuchel.

Nah i've seen absolutely nothing from Tuchel... he's probably chatting BS or looking to get a rise out of the muppets
