What difference does that make? He very clearly plays best from the left.
I agree, completely. But, if needed, he has and will cover on the right. Him, Bruno, Donny, Eriksen, Elanga and Diallo are more than ample backup for Sancho, in my book, if Ten Hag wants a specific player who is not attainable this summer.

Seems to be the case these days. Page after page of just people saying they want him with no credible links. So weird that people are like “too good to be true” what’s too good? We’re not signing him.
It is actually something in it now. It’s Laurie Whitwell and Samuel Luckhurst on the case. They are not bullshitters.

That’s pretty much exactly the point I made. We agree completely - I’m not that fussed about a RW this summer because we have cover but I think we need a CF.

I'd love us to get Sesko, I think he has bags of potential (he has truly exploded in my FM save with United, alongside Sancho and Adeyemi) but I also fear the classic Martial reaction of "oh, I'm not the guaranteed starting striker, I can't keep consistent performance and mentally switch off to the point I lose all confidence" and we end up still having only one true striker, but it is a young and unproven Sesko, instead of Martial. (all under the assumption Ronaldo goes, of course)

Doesn’t seem to be anything more than “monitoring” or the usual tenuous link.

I'll be honest, I've only seen this kid in clips of a preseason friendly. However, he looks like he could be worth investing in. No reason not to go for it.

Why do I get a weird sense that United have some kind of policy where the manager picks the signings for the first half of the window, and then the scouts pick the signings for the second half?

Appears to be a bit of news circulating around this one. Ronaldo replacement obviously. Does he press?

I don't think this will happen. Salzburg will be asking for at least EUR60M at this stage of the transfer window and after the Nunez deal.
I doubt it. That would be twice as much as they have ever received for a single player. Diallo money should do it in my opinion. But yeah, going earlier for him would have helped but we don't do these kind of things.

Others clubs are more decisive with their dealings than Utd. We've seen that for most of the past 10 years now. In recent times i can only think of Malacia transfer the quickest.
City, Bayern, Pool & Madrid are very prompt & quick with their transfers in general.
We signed Donny pretty quick. CR7 was wrapped very quickly.

We have to appreciate a couple of things as fans. We consume daily our own clubs news. We see things everyday and feel it drags. Whereas as we don't consume other teams news as much, so when a signing happens, we think it has been done quickly.

Also, this new management team has been together for like 9 weeks or so. Head scouts have been releaved of their duties. We are starting way behind our rivals. Let's not forget, transfers aren't done in weeks before they're completed, the ground work of a transfer is done many months before the media get wind of it. We haven't had that luxury.

I think Ronaldo will go. I don’t like it, I’m really disappointed by it but it probably best for both parties now.
I don’t think ETH allows Martial to sulk if we do sign a forward. I don’t think he would tolerate it, and I think Steve McClaren will be key to keeping players happy and motivated.

Pressing is one of his best qualities, just recently he scored a goal against Ajax in the friendly game directly because of his good pressing and stealing the ball from a defender.

I would say that the club's scouts have already been monitoring for a long while. Unlike us, scouts tend to take a look at more attributes such as consistency, potential, adaptability, attitude etc besides the skills which the club can make a decision on whether to pursue or not to pursue. The scouts also take a look at whether the player's development is better served at his current club or us. Basically a lot of factors go into whether we want to make a move.

Based on what I have observed, he has the potential but he has to show it consistently. His physique is also disturbing his movement which requires more training (need to consider he is still physically developing at his age). At the moment we don't need to go for him.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

agree

If Ronaldo goes, we‘d have three attackers with good experience. Sure coaches tell Martial he’s involved and he can play wide as well so it’d still only be 4 into 3… he’d get plenty of game time.

Yeah but you don't start scouting in the middle of a transfer window but usually make your mind up before the window opens.

But we should sign their scouting structure more than a single player, makes more sense

This just isn’t true. You just don’t follow their sagas because you’re not immersed in them.

Yeah I think ETH will use the whole squad across 4 competitions. One of Oles biggest failings was sticking almost religiously with the same 11. You can understand heads dropping in that scenario.

Is the price tag actually only £25m? If so this is a no brainer, whether we loan him back or not.

In general I would agree but Šeško is maybe not the best example for this, since we've bid for him in 2019 when he was 16yrs old and still in Slovenia. It was just that he chose Salzburg because of better career develompent options for young talent. In this regard United is just too big to guarantee young prospects playing time whereas if you sign for Salzburg you know that you'll be playing in the first 11 if you progress nicely.

Young, hungry, potential to improve to a very high standard, presses non stop, good in the air, great feet, good finisher and a proper centre forward and as he’s at Salzburg is probably attainable for around £40 million or less so what’s not to like ?

It’s clear Ronaldo will be off and we’re just looking for someone stupid enough to take him and his massive ego on so if we’re able to get Sesko and a right sided attacker in as well as De Jong or an alternative I’ll be very happy with our summer business and how much better balanced we’re our squad wise, I’d also love a right back but I think four more signings might be expecting too much.

I like the look of this guy, clearly got a lot of potential.

I'm no stat freak, but a couple of interesting stats via sofascore from last season in the bundesliga:

Scored 5 goals from 8 starts and 16 sub appearances, 1 goal every 194 mins. That's pretty decent for a very young player.

Missed 14(!) big chances. Wow. I guess he gets himself into good positions but that is a lot of poor finishes.

Small sample size, eye test, young player, all the usual caveats acknowledged of course.

I hope the coaching team can handle it as you say but I remain sceptical
