Bruno false #9 with Eriksen behind might be interesting? Or terrible.
My preference. Eriksen is quality and offers some much needed composure in attack (only Sancho and a fit and inform Martial provide that). Bruno is so direct and wasteful for a possession style, but is a goal threat, so him at false 9 may end up being something we see a lot of. Allows for all of Bruno, Eriksen, Rashford and Sancho in the front four, which provides a good balance. Elanga, Ronaldo and I guess Diallo/Garnacho as attacking options from the bench.

Would rather Garnacho come in than Elanga, personally. Sancho right, Garnacho left, Rashford up front. Or Garnacho up front if he has any value there, and Rashford on left, idk.
That's not a bad shout. The kid seems good enough to be thrown in there to me and it would be pretty exciting.

I'm not quite as ready to throw Elanga in the bin yet, but this is Red Cafe, a place where vitriol is spat at a player for having one bad season despite previously carrying the side while playing through injury.

Elanga hasn't reached anywhere near those significant heights yet, but I think it's worth waiting at least a year after penning jizz-stained chant before a) completely writing off their career or b) being a horribly aggressive, sub-human cnut in the match day thread.

Good for him, I guess.

(If that's the reason for hiring him - not good for us, I'd say).
Not really, apparently he’s a highly rated coach and declined the South African national team job. Ten Hag hired him after having him in at carrington and watching him take sessions beforehand.

Yeah, I'm just being a dick.

I do trust ETH - and if he wants Benni, then great, no problem at all.

It was just the way it was formulated (the focus on Ronaldo.)

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.
Ronaldo didn't want instructions from Mourinho or Sarri. He might be right in that regard that he knows best himself how and where to apply himself best on the pitch. Footballers with high IQ on the pitch are the ones that need the least instructions.
I disagree. As regards defensive instructions especially, it's a collective effort and every player needs to know what their responsibilities are. We've seen last season where players doing as much or as little as they feel like against the ball gets us.

Sorry man, but that's a terrible take on it.
Ronaldos job is to be exactly where Ten Hag want him to be. There's a reason they are drilling in patterns and tactics, and that's not because they want Ronaldo to decide for himself where he can be bothered to be on the pitch.

There was some discussion here that Ronaldo would walk all over him if he tries to coach him.
Yeah, not unreasonably, I guess.

But it's pretty obvious to everyone beyond the most idiotic Ronaldo followers (I don't know why I hesitate to call them fanboys - that's a much better term, I'm too polite) that ETH is fecked unless he gets the Ronaldo thing right.

And getting it right could mean benching him - in theory it could mean not playing him at all.

I'm not saying he has to do that.

I'm saying that ETH is the boss - Ronaldo is a player.

Ronnie needs to sort his shit out. No CL club can justify taking on his wages, not during this transfer window at least.

Yep.

I mean, the available evidence doesn't positively contradict it.
In which case, unless Mendes has decided to retire at the same time as Ronnie, he is going to still need to look like a competent professional to clients and clubs. Maybe he’s dropping heavy hints to the clubs he’s whoring him round to that it wasn’t his idea.

I want ronaldo gone as much as the next person, but if he can give us an hour, I'd much rather start him than any of the other options. We need a player that can hold the ball up and bring others into play - that seems to be the trigger for our full backs and central midfielders making forward runs. Maybe bruno can do it to an extent, but he could easily be bullied by their strong defenders. Hopefully sancho has recovered, otherwise we look pretty toothless up top

Whatever people opinions of Ronaldo which I am not going into, bench him for whom? If people want ROnaldo benched or sold, either way, a striker simply has to come in. MArtial, Rashford.....how many years and opportunities have those two had up fron there...Fernandes as a false 9....why are people suggesting that, madness?

The simple truth is, we needed 6/7 signings this summer at least and we have so far arguably signed one starter that upgrades the side, sold sod all and our squad isnt thin....its still huge, its completely lopside in certain areas and bare in others, striker is one of them.

Bar 2/3 youngsters makign huge breakthroughs this season, as things stand if we sign no more players, Ten Hag has to work perfectly in his first year to get this side into the top four, its so weak in certain areas and benching or sellign ROnaldo as tings stand, cf is undoubtedly one of those areas

I don’t think Bruno has good hold up play which I like in a false 9 but he does have fancy little flicks and touches that can play are inverted wingers in. As long as they stay semi close to him and make the runs I can see Bruno playing a lot of one touch football that could work. Just another option to have but I would like us to sign another striker to add depth/options. Never know what will work and need to be flexible.

What a calamitous start to his reign as manager, he's gonna end up walking if we're not careful, I bet he can't believe some of the shit that's playing out.
Oh yeah he's learning what a total shitshow we are

I just thought for a moment what would happen if Jose was manager. The thermonuclear explosion from the collision of two planet size egos would probably be registered beyond the solar system.

What is playing out, what is he learning and how is he not part of it?

transfer wise - the club seems to be going out of its way to accommodate him.

Ronaldo thing - he asked to be let go for a reasonable offer and seemingly no offer came

players leaving the stadium early - he could have handled it privately but made it a public thing

There were reports of fights between those 2. A quick google will show things like this

https://syndication.bleacherreport....estrained-from-jose-mourinho-in-2013.amp.html
Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho reportedly “almost came to blows” in 2013 during their time together at Real Madrid, with the former’s apparent refusal to make a defensive contribution sparking a row between the duo.
Leopards, spots.

And ultimately, the leopard won and Jose got the sack.

Yeah dude, he didn’t want to play defense like Jose wanted to him. Guess what? None of the truly great attacking players do. You don’t have a Messi/Ronaldo/Maradona/Ronaldinho and ask them to track back. Thats someone else’s job. Thats kind of the whole point.

For this weekend, he should not start. He left that game at HT without the manager’s approval, he shouldn’t even be in the squad. Rashford through the middle.
