Not an ideal start obviously but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as last season.

Thought they played some good stuff at times but lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Also didn't agree with starting without a striker.

McTominay will get the hate but Sancho was worse, very disappointing performance.
No excuse for a 75m player to hide on the right, he should be the one trying to make things happen and demand the ball.

2nd half was much better, Eriksen looked decent in the deeper role, even the way he moves reminds me of Scholes, no where near as good under press but did significantly better than Fred there, who was terrible.

Not a good start, have faith in the manager, he’ll need loads of time, it is what it is.

People will get the message that no amount of managerial changes are going to suddenly make players like McTominay, Fred and Rashford any better one day. One day.

Better second half with more direct play. This passing style doesn’t work for us. We don’t have players for that.

No suprise we looked better when we started getting Bruno, Eriksen and Sancho more on the ball. It's a shame we were already two goals down and in the second half when we realised it.

Same problems as last year. We're not moving the ball quickly enough and are liable to give some big chances away. I hope ten Hag can coach some urgency into these players.

Not dissimilar to the end of last season, pre season hasn’t changed anything and it hasn’t made the players who were rubbish last season good now. The usual suspects needs replacing, but even the supposedly better players are poor. We’re gonna have to be patient and Ten Hag is going to need to be as ruthless as it was made out he is on here.

Players went back to their old ways.

I don't really know what to say. I said it all last season just like we all did, and it's all still true now.

we still suck. midfield was atrocious as usual. toothless attack largely because the midfield is so so bad and can't get them the ball. defense was shaky. better 2nd half but even with the increased intensity it was complete blunder by the brighton keeper to make it nervy for themselves.

Shiny new manager toy, no improvement in the squad. Results as expected.

I don't understand how McT and Rashford in particular lasted so long on the pitch.
Don't exactly understand why Ronaldo didn't start...
We desperately need a CM (at the very least) and if ETH gets stubborn about FDJ then he will pay for it.
Eriksen was the only decent player and I'm genuinely worried about Bruno.

I promised myself that I would be patient with the ETH rebuild but that was dire.
Another day Fernandes and Rashford would take their chances.

Severe lack of intelligent footballers. Can't build up any kind of pressure when the same 4-5 idiots keeps wasting the ball.

Said it in another thread. We looked far better with a deeper Eriksen. All of a sudden Brighton weren’t just pressing Fred and getting the ball back but had to work for it. Allowed us to properly pen them in their box for a bit too.
Needs a lot more work cause we shit ourselves when the opposition have the ball. Where’s the pressing?

Eriksen was our best player by a country mile. Should start in that position every game. Martinez got better during the game and will be very good for us. Maguire looked awfully slow on the two goals, but cannot blame him for them. And his positioning and passing was very good.

At least we saw some sort of response in the second half but not enough quality when it mattered. There was a lot of sloppy play all round today and we still look worryingly easy to get at defensively.

A reality check, and in the most deflating way. We need to get some players in that are capable of playing this system because on that evidence it didn't look like this team can manage it.

Work still to be done. There were some nice little things but players letting the system down at points and some passengers.

When we moved Erikson to MF in the second half we were much better.

McFred isnt good enough especially mctominah.

Worryingly though Brighton looked miles better in terms of general play.

Eriksen, Martinez, Maguire and Ronaldo did ok, the rest where pure shit.
Genuinely this.

I would be very happy if Shaw Rashford Dalot McFred left the club tomorrow morning. Honestly its this persisting with average/overrated players thats doing this club harm all the time.

I find the lack of urgency in our players utterly bemusing. Why the feck do they jog everywhere when the opp are teaching you a lesson in covering ground for 90 min? These players were always going to throw any manager under the bus, id thought they may have waited for 5 or 6 games but they are beyond pathetic.

9 of the same starters from last season? As soon as I saw McFred, I put money on Brighton to win. It was as clear as day that they were going to win.

That may as well have been Solskjaer in charge to be honest. It was the same crap.

There needs to be a huge overhaul but there won't be.

Can't be disappointed when I don't have high expectations. Mediocrity continues.

Our midfield is still not good enough. Play Eriksen instead of Bruno and buy two new midfielders

Half this squad needs replacing. ETH has been nothing to work with
