So overall he was bad. No getting around it. But he also had 1 or 2 good bits of play in between not looking anywhere near good enough. Maybe thats why Fred was hooked first because he didnt even do that much. But yeah there was a lot of evidence today that he isnt good enough as well. A lot more than the couple of good moments

He’s good enough for United, but only as 5th/6th choice in a 4-3-3. 4th choice at best and starting games in rotation/cups. Selling him would be daft because there is no middle market for players like him since COVID, he’s rarely injured, and he can probably cover RB and CB. You need to bring players in ahead of him in midfield so that he’s in the right place in the pecking order.
Every bloody centre midfielder in the PL who gets games is good enough for this. fecking hell the lowering of standards just reeks.

I wish McTominay was good enough. However, you cannot have a #8 that needs 4,5,6 touches to make up his mind on the ball. He's a black hole for passing moves.

Shite. One of the worst midfielders we've had play consistently for the club.

Fellaini is twice the player he is.

You'd have to assume his starting position was DM since we played in a 4231, yet, he made multiple runs forward - which isn't a terrible thing if done so moderately, but he did it so often I legit started to believe he was playing at CAM.

He was entirely at fault for the first goal because he decided, for reasons known only to himself, to go on a wild dribble towards their goal, lose possession and find himself miles out of position. I hope ETH tore into him at half-time for that.
Also, when trying to build it from the back, he is too far ahead so it makes him one less passing option.

I'm not going to link tweets, but scrolling through Twitter it seems even the fans of Liverpool and co agree that if United upgrade on McTominay, we're a different proposition.

It just appears too easy to be true, but I can't stop saying it everytime I watch us.

Of course he isn't the only shit piece of the puzzle, but he plays in such an important position to such a poor standard.

He wouldn't start for many other Premier League clubs, if any imo. That initial youthful buzz was great, but we're 4/5 years on and he's barely improved any part of his game.

I can't even fault him. He's obviously not good enough but we have zero bodies in midfield

Hopefully this means we get to see Garner, Iqbal or Hannibal next game.

Nowhere near good enough and never even stood out at youth level from what I saw. Mourinho for some reason promoted him to the first team.

I honestly hope Erik ten Hag gives one of the younger players a chance over him because the likes of Hannibal, Iqbal etc can open up passing angles and execute passes whilst maintaining composure. McTominay has never shown that at every level I've watched him play.

It angers me when he does it so often because all of us know that even if he were to receive the ball in that position, he doesn't have the confidence to do anything with it. And for good reason because his technique is awful.

We have bodies in the same way, he was one when he was breaking through. You just need to be brave enough to use them.

Just a terrible player, one of the worst midfielders I've ever seen play for the club. He's Scotlands centre back for a reason folks.

Sell him already and invest in some good midfielders. Ffs building a decent team shouldn't be this difficult when you have the resources of United

Talking about Garner? Don't see it with him either. Although it can't get much worse...

Just shows you how much of 'making it' is just luck.

You get the right break at the right time, and you become a household name which is automatically thought of as a top level player.

Suggesting Mctominay is a good squad player should be a bannable offence

The commentator was talking about how he sometimes like to play on the edge. No the reason he runs a fine line with referees is because his technical ability is so poor.

Injuries. The entire midfield was injured, so that was the only reason. Barely actually played for him, though, so was only ever meant to be a temporary plug on a hole. Unfortunately, Solskjaer came along and cemented that plug in.

He'll do well in central defense. Give him maguires spot.

We know he is not good enough everyone knows he isn't good enough.

What's the point of saying it anymore?

Terrible footballer! Just read a tweet that said he made the least passes out of United’s starting XI with the worst passing accuracy. Not surprising at all

I still wonder why a championship level player can still be in starting squad of this team?

So why is he still playing? There is some funny business going on with him at United.

Mourinho promoted him for whatever reason and now everyone pretends like he is a good footballer and part of the squad. He would not stand out in the U18 games. I dont know why he is playing professional football.
