What do you do when we lose a match?

I'm usually pretty fecked off for a good few hours but I've tried harder recently to put it out of my mind because it affects the rest of my day.

Problem with disconnecting yourself from the lows is that you also won't feel as good with the highs. I didn't even move when Fred scored on Saturday because I felt like that was us doing the bare minimum.

I watch ALL united games. And most other premier league games that I can. But when United lose (especially when it's the early game). I'm usually not in the mood to watch any more football for at least a day. It's sulky I know but i find it's less painful if I avoid watching our rivals playing silky, exhilarating football. But United games. That's my pennance!

Well I sure as shit don’t get surprised anymore.

There’s been too much real shit going on the past few years, generally and personally, for me to get too wound up over footy these days.

I used to get so upset when we even drew under SAF - stay at home and probably miss uni lectures on Monday as well.

Doesn't really bother me at all now, tbh. We lose all the time. I'd need long-term therapy if I let United affect my mood anymore.

Quite honestly Saturday didn't affect me because have dropped so many silly points this season it's expected now

As an ex-Singaporean I know the feeling. Used to feel utterly betrayed after staying up most of the night to catch the football only to see an uninspiring performance. But that was in the 1990s when were actually challenging for top honours so I can only imagine the situation now!
Yeah it's tough man, i've only started getting up for the biggish games and the ones i don't think we'll get battered for, so very few  ! Least moving back to England in August will let me watch the football at reasonable hours, although the time difference allows me watch UFC in the morning so it's give and take!

This one hits hard. I shouldn't have watched, but I thought I'd be able to be numb like I've grown to be, but not today. On to watch a series. Can only imagine how bad the United forum will be for the coming weeks.

Back so soon, darkness my old friend.

MLB better deliver something today. Or a new series, something to get the mind off this lot. Definitely not checking the forum today.

I used to get furious and rant but now I just take it easy and serve myself a mezcal or a peaty scotch and take a deep breath.

Completely used to it now to be honest. There's an inevitability to it, particularly against half decent opposition. So I just avoid thinking about it or talking about it for too long. It's not like it's getting fixed anytime soon (it's years not months).

For those that go into a sulk, punch walls, etc, don't bother watching or following the ~5-0 defeat to Liverpool in 2 weeks time. Make alternative plans and leave your phone at home.

Thanks, good advice. Should have known it myself. Got more angry reading some childish rubbish on Caf today after the game, than while watching it.

Congrats to anyone who still cares, I guess. Had the game on in the background and when it was over, I just went on with the rest of my day.

It’s almost impossible to get annoyed about the current situation because its so predictable.

Today feels worse because of the hope that a Summer of no football (and so no bad performances) brings.
It was supposed to be a new dawn and all that.
When I seen the lineup with most of the same old names as before I started to get doubts.

Depressing as feck. Hopefully serie a is as good as it was last year. I don't care about the PL

Keep telling myself that even if we win, we still need to win another game, next week, next month, next year, next 10 years. Always work. For me.

Pop onto the Caf to see the fanatics lose their shit and have a good chuckle about it for the rest of the day

I go into Pets at Home and shout how much I dislike McTominay at the chinchillas.

It's always worse on a sunday with the next day work dread too. I tend to just lounge around. Stay off the internet first and foremost, maybe go out to the gym or bouldering. Play the guitar, try to write a song or short story.
Basically anything to use the part of my brain that doesn't give a shit about football

Usually doesn't bother me at all these days. Though losing Casemiro to suspension and losing the 3 points in the Palace game did get me down somewhat for about 30 minutes.

Stay away from football related news, try to forget football for a while and focus on positive things. United losing has definitely an effect on my mood, although I work very hard to not let it affect others in my close circle, e.g. "why is daddy so grumpy today?"

I have a mild intolerance to milk so out of frustration I drink a couple of bottles of Chocolate flavoured Yazoo. Then I play the waiting game.

I usually take a few days off watching any other football - or reading / listening about it. The latter of which is actually very hard as it's only when you're trying to avoid football that you realise how ubiquitous it seems to be.

I also try to spend as much time as possible watching comedy shows, reading PG Wodehouse, listening to music, etc. Anything that might lift my mood.
