Can't believe they got him for £24 million and a pack of cheese and onion crisps. A snip.

Dread to think what he’ll do to us in a highline vs Slabhead

I think you might be right, but not in the way you mean. Like Ruud, I think he hoovers up a whole lot of goals without actually making the team any better than they were before he turned up.
Lots of players have said when Ruud played their job was easier as they knew almost any half sniff was a good chance at a goal. Halaand will make all their lives easier, the midfielders won't all need to burst a lung trying to be in the middle to score in many cases - they know they have a world class finisher there to do it

It's wishful thinking by people to think he won't make them even stronger

You reckon that's what they paid?
There was so many commissions in that deal to family, agents, associates and player bonuses that the total was at least triple that. But generally reporters are loathe to look into City's deals because of the legal firepower that is unleashed on them afterwards.

£51m was his release clause right? His agent did a great deal with that to be fair, they planned ahead. He was immediate first choice at a big side, Dortmund got a goal machine for a couple seasons, still a tidy profit, but Dortmund couldn't refuse to sell after a couple years unless they received a crazy offer (like the Sancho saga, or the crazy fee they managed to make on Dembele).

Crazy to think what he would have cost without that agreement.

If this is true, our scouting can’t be blamed that much?

Who said players need to settle into the league? This guy has just performed better than the best strikers in the league this weekend.

If City played a false 9 they wouldn't have won today. This is why Haaland will be huge for them. Great plays fr Gundo and KdB, but Haaland for both plays and got the goal.

Ok, might be reduced to the hope delusion that his inclusion will make City more predictable and easier to plan for.

Adding Haaland to this City team, under Pep means the title has been decided for atleast the next few years.

I still think they would have won.

City had 400+ passes in the first half. West Ham had 40. It was all one way traffic.

What we will see more often than before though is a city scoreline with only Haaland on there rather than 3 different city players.

If this is true, our scouting can’t be blamed that much?

Been saying this multiple times on here, our scouting has identified some really good candidates. And we've been in for them too, not like a random scout filing a report away for future analysis. That's why I'm suspicious of the Murtough revolution - I think part of it is optics - he's retained all the scouts and fired Bout. How much difference could one guy have made?

Scouting only identifies players, I think the question around whether they fit a certain system or how they'd play with existing players in the team has to be answered by the DOF / coach. I think that's where we're lacking rather than the identification of players themselves. You get that only by picking the right manager and backing them until they're able to shape their squad appropriately.

Such suggestions don't require a scouting team, just internet access...
Nope, very few people knew of Haaland, Nunez or Bellingham when we were in for them.

Still the case with Sesko. You can look at the threads for historical evidence if you want, it's the same chatter around - oh he's playing in a crap league, can he make it here? Only few games in which he scored in CL etc.

Was pretty well known Ole wanted him, Bellingham and Grealish. Board got him Donny and Cavani.
I dunno about Grealish but I did pose the question last time. In an alternate universe if Ole managed to sign both Bellingham and Haaland (both were very close) how would we have fared?

--------------------- Haaland ----------------
--- Rashford -- Bruno --- Sancho ---
-------------- McT ------ Bellingham ----
--- Shaw -- Maguire -- Varane -- AWB ----
---------------------- DDG ------------------------------

I still don't think we would've caught up to Pep / Klopp but could've been around 3rd.

In 2017 MUFC was suggested a talented 16 year old they should consider purchasing when he was playing for Norwegian outfit Molde by the then Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

They never acted on the tip.

The consequences of that is currently playing for the wrong Manchester team.

fecking phenomenal Glazers.

We've seen this often in the past. City dominate but still draw or lose. The runs Haaland made no one else City makes that. City had 2 shots on target both from Haaland and both in the back of the net. I don't think they win this with Foden or Silva as false 9.

Something tells me City planned this signing all along. I think they always wanted Haaland and used Ronaldo to play us for fools, thus, giving them a free run at him.
Christ, we're a shit show in comparison these days and damn it hurts.

I doubt it.

I don’t think they care about us to come up with a cunning plan. They would have been confident of signing him even in a 10 horse race.

Could have had him when Ole was manager if they wernt too cheap to pay the agent fee. Instead he was given Ighalo

City Averaged 2.6 goals a game last year.

Granted this game was away from home, no signs so far he'll add net goals to the team.

They already had the best team in England and added this neanderthal too. I'm certain they'll win the league comfortably this year. Hate him or love him the guy is the best striker I've seen coming through since god knows when. I never once thought he'd become what he is now when he was with Ole at Molde. Didn't even think it was a remote possibility.
