If he goes elsewhere it's a tough one to take.
Yeah, but I guess we get to see how ETH mixes it up. For all the "He's essential to Ten Hags plans" crap I'm sure he'll have ideas on how to run this show with players that have a slightly different skillset.

There's no way that someone from MEN seriously took an ESPN article from 2020 and wrote their own article on it today! What a joke!

@Damien further proof that MEN remains banned on the Caf
They did the same thing on an article about Pogba, it was from a year old article from The Times. MEN are a genuinely poor paper.

What about Chelsea, how will that lot feel if he eventually join us now?

What i was thinking, wonder if their fans are "embarrassed" and "laughing stock" after all their attempts at players this season to get lose out to other clubs...........

Yeah, his two Ajax teams were markedly different but both did very well. Im sure he’ll cope with different players

Murtogh and Arnold should resign if he goes to Chelsea
I thought the prevailing "wisdom" on here was that the club definetly wouldn't still be pursuing him and would have moved on weeks ago unless Ten Hag had received personal assurances from De Jong that he wanted to come? Because they have such a great relationship and it's always been De Jong's dream to play under him again or something. So are we calling for his head too?

I guess you can definitely write off the days of our allure being enough to draw the best talent. The Pogba signing while out of the Champions League was because it looked like a blip, this is now a pattern, and quite frankly doesn’t look like improving. Even if we eventually hit it off under ETH, we’re likely to revert back to how’s it’s been previously under the Glazers when he leaves.

To most younger players now, we’ve been a mess as long as they’ve watched football. It’s remarkable how similar it is to Liverpool in the 90s. My only memory of note of Liverpool and being close to silverware in my childhood was the 96 cup final. I know they won league, FA and UEFA cups eventually, but honestly it felt completely irrelevant at the time.

If he picks Chelsea over United than it's an absolute failure from our negotiating team to not be able to convince him over a different premier league club not called city or Liverpool.

That day has never existed, even under SAF United weren't a fancied destination.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Romano indicating that Chelsea are just talking about Aubemayang atm. Simmer down folks
This may just be cope but Chelsea’s chase for De Jong through the media and without any dedicated articles from their bonafide sources - “we refuse to bid without agreement, we’re preparing a bid, we’re close to putting in a bid, we’re negotiating and a bid is coming” and our chase for rabiot “we’ve agreed a fee but haven’t spoken to player, we’ve spoken to player but haven’t spoken to agent, we’ll speak to the agent in a few days but it must be in person” both seem really strange. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Barcelona are putting pressure on us to pay the wages by leaking the Chelsea interest, we’re putting pressure on them by leaking we’re about to walk away - via non-United sources like Burt - and Chelsea just want aubemeyang so don’t really give a hoot. Or he is going to Chelsea, we’re signing Rabiot/SMS and I’m over-analysing it all

Well the difference is that they actually won the Champions League a little over a year ago and have an ambitious new owner ready to repeat that first Abramovic summer, they're still a serious football club despite the jokes.

Not really we're a joke whereas they have new owners, Champions League and the London lifestyle for his missus as well. We have literally Ten Hag to come back with so 3-1 to them then.

Chelsea have won the league and champions league in the last five years while we have done feck all. They also finished above us and look like they can actually play football.
Players look at who they will be playing with. All De Jong sees are Fred and McSauce.

No, we understand we are operating with a rookie owner that is making up being a DoF as he goes. Even with the scatter gun approach and not even knowing what the intent of players were before making bids, He has improved the team. If it was this way every window, that would be bad.

Can he play as a striker?
We are actually working to sign aubamayang as well apparently.

Apparently where our agreement differs from United’s is Boehly is willing to pay the full deferred wages to De Jong up front.

We will see.

There's just no chance we'd let him go to Chelsea over this

Chelsea don't even need him  :(
This is a true statement, but Chelsea may consider bringing in a top player for the future. They’re not winning the PL this season but a “pre-build” of sorts for the future would not be daft on their part.

Yes, that Kounde gazump sent Chelsea twitter into a frenzied meltdown.

Unfortunately sky is often days behind with what the latest is so I expect any day now they'll change their tune to Chelsea being favourites

Frenkie isn’t a R9, Batistuta, Ronaldinho level player. It’s also a difficult comparison because the Premier League is a much more fancied destination in general for foreign players than it was in the 90s and even 2000s. However, compared to the rest of England, it certainly was a favoured destination. We can’t even convince England’s best young talent to join any more, which was almost a given previously.
