It’s head-scratching stuff. From what has been released, it sounds like what was seized could be trophies, mementos— random stuff. Like stone’s pardon for instance. Old hat, surely. Info on French prez? Could be childish hoarded stuff. As if Trump sees his presidency as a gas frolic, and needs to remind himself it actually happened.

Or is it darkly sinister? Was he taking Saudis, or whoever else, to the basement? Selling secrets? Was he blackmailing people?

Was he being blackmailed?

Is it possible to have a grey area here, for instance… Were others involved?

Some of this material was super secret. Why did the DOJ wait? People say Garland is the real deal, he doesn’t make careless or facetious moves. Sounds like the Trump goose is cooked. But I think there’s a final, maybe slightly dragged-ouf, blockbuster chapter here, featuring ugly scenes and some (key) people turning on DT.
what?

they seized multiple classified documents, some of them top secret, and some further marked to mean they could only be looked at in a secure facility.

I hope they find something to put Trump in jail. If he took Top Secret folders at home, isn't this a jailable offence?

Just last year, a civilian woman who used to worked at the US Embassy in Manilla got caught taking home a couple of academic theses labeled "secret" (very low secrecy level) to work on her own classified thesis. She served 3 months in jail.

edit: Here's the original story about that woman (AP).

DeSantis is the one to worry about. I didn’t think he had ‘it’ a year ago, but the bastard has morphed into a smarter, better looking, & more politically savvy Trump.
Imo these are all reasons why DeSantis would lose to Trump. A large part of Trump appeal is down to how stupid and incompetent he is.

So from all this it would seem that Trump will be charged with something surely? I somehow still can't really imagine that it will even impact his chance to run for president again. Seeing the way top GOP'ers react to this, just makes it seem like the country is too far gone to self correct this trajectory of the fake news movement Trump is a culmination of. Can't help but feel the world is on the brinck on some sort of massive actual cultural war between alt right nutcases and normal society.

What went wrong with all the pricks and prickettes that they're such evil cnuts.

It would be a primary for the ages. I can see your point, I guess I am discussing the general election.

How am I banned from Twitter and is Jake Posobiec not.

Calling someone a cnut is way morr serious than undermining western society it seems.

One of the right's talking points is they were declassified.

Except they weren’t however that is the line they are using for their thick supporters.
Well their argument is that the President can declassify whatever he likes by just saying "I hereby declassify this" out loud or something. Not convinced that is going to hold up, you'd imagine there is some sort of formally recognised process that needs to be gone through, not just saying a magic declassifying spell.

Yep there is a number of variables to that. That argument isn’t going to stick.

Am I right in thinking the President can’t declassify Nuclear related stuff? Think I read that somewhere.

Most certainly there's a declassification process.

Yes, there is a law that prevents declassifiyng nuclear systems design, etc.
My guess - this law has never been tested against Presidential privilege. It goes to the Supreme Court who may very well declare it unconstitutional. That presidential power to declassify constitutionally protected in all circumstances etc. We are not dealing with a rational state.
