It was clear to me after the collapse today that this squad have just been through too much. Too many different managers, too many punishing defeats, too much criticism, too much disappointment. They have PTSD.

They are shot, they are fragile and they are maybe the easiest team in the league to beat.

All it took was the De Gea mistake and we were cooked. The players can see what is next and they completely implode and lose any confidence that the manager may have been trying to instill in them during the week.

Individually, the majority of the team are good players, they could go on to play in an organized Premier League team. But put them together and they look like a bunch of shell shocked veterans coming back from war.

The only answer is to rip the heart out of this team. I dont care if it means selling some of these players for next to nothing, or leaving highly paid players on the bench.

I would rather ETH assemble a team of no names and drill them hard. It seems to work for Brighton, Brentford and many other Prem teams.

Don't give a shit. Perform or get lost. If you're looking for sympathy then feck off to Southampton or something.

From now on, regardless of what happens just tell them they did really well and gave it their all and that's all we could hope for.

Then remind them that if they feel bad about the result, it was always in their hands to do something about it.

This was not a collapse we just got battered by better, smarter and more aggressive players.

Too many big defeats has destroyed them. They can't deal with the pressure of playing for this club. A lot of them are done.

Taking a beating from every direction on and off the pitch can’t be easy.

It’s a vicious spiral…one that is proving very difficult to stop.

So why not get rid of the players who are supplying the ptsd?

It's simple. Not rocket science

Incredible opinion. How can you think its that simple after everything we have seen over the past few years?

Astonishing.
How could anyone actually come to a different opinion on these lot? They are simply not good and mentally wimps too.

Maguire for all the criticism he got is maybe the one with the least shitty performances in the first two games. But god help us if we don't bring one or two semi competent midfielders before window closes. And right back is a must. Dalot is a bad joke on the best of days. Sancho I have yet to see him dribble past a player. Martinez to small, put him on DMC. McFred shouldn't be near first 11.

The changing room is clearly fractured and they dont like each other. Thing is we were expecting it to be broken up, and it wasnt

Its a team of losers. They are more comfortable with losing then knowing how to win.

Completely agree. This is not just about ability, the team as a collective have zero confidence, and a lot of them need to be dropped even if we have to replace them with young players.

Yeah it's fragile. The club bought it on themselves when they didn't stop the bleeding last year under Ole. They completely shattered the collective confidence and the only way to fix it this summer would've been to change the entire profile of the playing squad.

I don't think Maguire has been bad at all in these two games. He's been fine. People just hate him at this point. I don't think he will ever be able to bring the fans back onside. We have problems basically everywhere else on the pitch.

Because many of them are on salaries that no other club would want to take on.

Who in their right minds would want to take McGuire or Rashford on 200k a week.
Then freeze em out or something and make an environment so that they take the offer of other clubs.

Made this point yesterday. We are waiting to get beat and it’s a release when we go behind. We wait until the opposition have their way with us so we can get to the dead game, foot off the pedal stage so we can calm down and be thankful for the mercy.
It’ll be the same when we create chances, we will miss so many easy chances because we will expect to miss them as well.

An oversimplification, yes, but there are a few players who are not good enough (either never were or aren’t any more good enough) for a club of our size, history and future ambition.

Some of the players might be good enough, perhaps they’ll come through this. But the fact is that if you go into games with 3, 4, 5 even 6 players who aren’t up to it, no amount of coaching is going to overcome that (even if good coaching can raise the level to some extent).

Agree with the op. There are good players in there but they're broken. It's a chronic lack of confidence now. When mistakes are made it just sinks them. And of course that's compounded by too many players who just aren't good enough.
