Can’t possibly see us signing him and Casemiro. It will take away from the minutes our young midfielders like McTominay need for their progressionand Lingard

Are Madrid a classier club than Barcelona? Definitely much easier to deal with.
Why wouldn’t it be? We have a history of selling them Beckham, Ronaldo, RVN to name a few… normal working relationship between the clubs

He's great and will instantly improve us but I'm holding out for Zidane Iqbal (+Savage). Most people will say that they are not ready and that's probably right but I honestly don't think they are not too far away. Throw them in the deep end.

I have to say, journalists did say this was going to the wire and to the very end. Even British journalists too.

The silence makes me think both parties are looking to see who ducks first.

What's the gap in salary covering? I've read Barca prepared to cover €7m but that might have been a weak source. Barca might not be prepared to cover anything at all. Any reports on what United is willing to cover?

Seems like there's a £10-15m gap here.

I feel we will make one last push for him.

Frenkie will see that we got Casemiro and want to play with such a fantastic player. Never give up Erik!

Sacrilege. Latest from Barca is that they still think he needs to go. Chelsea are interested, but that's about it. We supposedly "fell out" of contention because we're a shitshow in many journalists view - that is an opinion, not a statement from his agent. Romano however says that agents and clubs have told him the deal is still very much active and everything is ready to go should de Jong decide to move (or get paid his damn money [This last part is not from Romano]).

Muppets must believe!

If United did make a big bid for Antony why not lump another 20m on FDJs contract offer

The wing could probably wait another year

Not sure we could afford both? Surely it’s one or the other?
Given how we have been enquiring about Felix and Casemiro in the past few days, SOMETHING happened at board level after the Brentford debacle. Could well be that more money was made available.

we just got reports that another Antony bid was rejected for 80 million Euros. Maybe the Frenkie money has been shifted to Casemiro, and that money is earmarked for an attacking player but I can't see any way ten Hag would turn down signing Frenkie when he was the #1 priority on top of seeing how bad this midfield is.

On a serious note, the FDJ buzz has gone very quiet, hasn’t it?

I started to give up. And then the Quasimodo stuff started and it didn’t seem right but it seemed more ON than the Frenkster.

Thing is, we really need Quasi AND Frenk.

Enough of my yakking. Whaddya say, Brownie, is FDJ coming? If you say no, I’ll know he really isn’t.

We do need both... we need both to ensure that the midfield is sorted for a while at least.

I think that we'll see something happen with this before the window closes, either United go in with a new bid, or Frenkie gives the green light and we go all out

Honestly if united signed Casemiro why say no? FDJ would be in a better midfield than at Barca at that point

The attack needs sorting, the GK and a RB but United would need maybe an extra transfer window.

At Barca I don't think he will improve a lot

Of course if we can afford bidding for Felix for twice the price of Casemiro while simultaneously bidding for Casemiro himself, of course we may afford both Casemiro and FDJ. But, probably, not both AND Felix, though, unless there are sales

Theyve got unbelievable levels of money if they want. $200 million was touted at one point. Its entirely possible for them to afford Casemiro, FDJ, AND Anthony/Gakpo plus a right back. The only question (outside FDJ wanting to be there or not) is whether they actually WANT to spend that money. They haven't until now...

Said it in the Casemiro thread but I'm not sure him and FDJ would really work as a pair. Similar to the problems FDJ has with Busquets Casemiro's natural position covers the same areas that FDJ wants to receive that ball in

Feel like a better partner for FDJ would be someone like Rice (ironically if we've now given Chelsea a free run at him that could well be their midfield next season)

Maybe FdJ, sick of saying "when pigs fly" when EtH asks him to come here, decided to vary it by saying "When Casemiro signs". Balls in your court now Frenkie lad.

Could be a murtogh masterstroke in the end, Barca having to come to us to get him to transfer as he won't lower his wage.

Frenkie and Casemiro midfield, I can feel it lads.

The Madrid version of him won't work as you described you're but I think with some tweaking it could work, like having be more exclusively a destroyer type.

I'm not so convinced with them as a pair but I think it's more compatible than FDJ and Busquets as they're similarish type players. While Casemiro plays deep, I don't think he's necessarily the type that is eager to receive the ball from the defenders. I like FDJ more on the ball in deeper areas and Casemiro more when defending. Not a great match up but workable and I'd love to see it given a go.
