Gapko and Antony? That sounds bloody expensive. It's rare that one player in manage to translate their ability from the Dutch league to the Premier League, but two? Betting on a miracle here.
How about 4? Malacia and Martinez too
I’m not sure Rashford would offer anything even in the Dutch league! In fact, we’d probably get more from Malacia playing left wing than Rashford.

Yeah Rashford is a busted flush. I think he's got this season as one last chance. Personally, I reckon he's gone next summer.

Is there a player with his weight that made a big impact in the league? I can think of Coutinho but hardly anyone else
Brother, Youssi Benayoun was pulling trees in this league. I don’t know why this myth that you need to be a physical specimen to succeed in the prem persists.

Silva
Silva
Sterling
Raphinha
Saka
Mahrez
Lennon

Just off the top of my head. obviously different degrees of success/longevity

Bless you bro. You need to live the muppet life. Sesko was soo last month.
:( I really wanted him here. Since by all accounts ETH wants a target man type forward, let Chelsea have Ronaldo and swap for Broja. Win win for everyone.

Ronaldo gets his CL football and Chelsea get a proven forward that they are lacking and we get a young promising target man.

Weight isn't an issue. Juninho was tiny and played in a far more physical era (Vinny Jones was still around at the time) and he was sensational. If you're good enough you're big enough.

Judging by the posts in this thread..

I'd sooner trust our scouts and ETH when it comes to judging players, rather than trusting caftards.

I'd sooner trust our board when it comes to affording players, rather than trusting caftards.

All in all, if ETH really believes in Antony and our board thinks spunking a cool 100 million is achievable without bankrupting the club, then I'd say go for it.

Surprised you trust the board at all… they’ve wasted so much money on trash signings over the years and overpaid them. Thought we was trying to change our transfer structure a little bit?

I'm just saying, if I had to trust the board or the Caf, I rather choose the board. I'm not sure why people are panicking over the price tag when our board is seemingly relaxed about it.

I don't think they're being relaxed at all, I think they're panicking and doing random things.

We went from we want Antony -> Antony is too expensive -> We'll sign Arnautovic -> nevermind fans don't like him -> Gakpo -> Nevermind we'll overpay for Antony because we lost two games.

We also walked away from Nunez although we were first to express interest because Benfica quoted us a price higher than what we wanted to pay. We didn't really have the budget to pay 90M+ for him if we spent 80M on FdJ.

That's fine, and yet now we're saying we'll spend 70M on Casemiro and 80M+ on Antony. If we had the money available why didn't we spend it on Nunez in the first place?

Tiers exist for a reason. Tier 1s confirmed all of what I said above (except the bit about the budget).

You're just being an ostrich with your head in the sand just hoping things get magically fixed.

Even tier 1s gets it wrong sometimes. But yeah sure pal, I should start panicking too because Teja on the Caf said I should.

The way I see it, ETH really wants Antony and the board is willing to back him all the way to get his player. I don't pretend to know shit about said player and about our club's finances. But again I may be wrong because apparently I'm an ostrich.

I am Glazers Out by the way, if it helps.

Maguire got killed for being 80 mil here, hopefully being a 90 mil player doesn’t get the fan base pointing fingers at him every possibility it can.

I like the look of him. The price is obviously ridiculous, but it’s not my money so might aswell go along with it.

It's the Twitter Updates for me
But yeah, that thread made me a major muppet this season. I don't think I've as invested to a transfer as de Jong

If Antony can produce 10 goals & 10 assists or 5 goals & 15 assists, it will be a good signing. Hope he does that and stay for more than 5 years. It will repay every single penny spent.

Liverpool spent the same amount of money this summer on a player who is neither of those things.
6 goals in CL last season against top class opponents. 34 goals in 41 games overall, which is also one of the most impressive scoring stats of all players last season (even though in 6th rank league). Safe to say he is far more proven than Antony at current standing.

The same board that got almost every single big decision wrong over the last ten years. But sure, they're totally right this time and we should blindly trust them!

But that is the task of Darwin Nunez; to score goals. It is not that task of Antony at Ajax who is in a different role. It is also well worth remembering that scoring plenty of goals in Portugal does not actually make him proven. Look at Slimani, Dost, Vincius etc.

Antony, on the other side, was in the 90th or 95th percentile in the CL on stats concerning what he brings to the table, among them ball progressions, recoveries and open play creation.

Will end up being €90m and part of this will be bonus based. Expensive but the manager knows him so we have to go with it.

My point was specifically about this thread and Antony. Our manager seemingly wants him this much and that our board is willing to back him up on that. So I trust their decision to sanction this deal. That's all.

Where are Chelsea getting their £320m from exactly?
Who says they're spending £320m net? They also have CL revenue this season and you don't. Plus arguably a few much more sellable assets to balance the books.

Where have you been? The Glazers are shitting themselves and freeing up loads of our money they have stolen from us.
That may be the case, but surely there are limits on what you can spend especially without CL football at the moment. Your net spend is already about £50m and the players mentioned would surely cost another £200m at least, plus I'm not hearing of any potential major departures apart from possibly Garner.

We spent more than that in Ole's first summer I believe? Where the money comes from isn't the mystery.

Our spending hasn't been curbed by a lack of funds. If we've had a low spend window, it's because of either arrogance, in that we felt we were fine with what we had, incompetence or a lack of real sporting success as our vision. Really it's a mix of all 3.

We've managed to almost keep up with City, spending wise, who are financially doped by a state. Imagine if we hadn't lost over a billion quid to interest....
Huh?

£80m for Maguire + £45m for AWB + £15 for James - £75m received for Lukaku = £65m net spend.

Plus the Bruno transfer obviously in January but still nowhere near. This would be an unprecedented level of spending for United - which arguably needs to happen but seems A) unlikely at this stage of a window B) unlikely with these owners and C) unlikely given you're in the Europa League.
