Hoping to see him get some minutes tonight, wasn't impressed vs Ghana - Seems to eager to try something silly or pass back but did work hard, hoping he isn't feeling the need to justify anything

He gives me Sanchez vibes with his movement, general play and the way he's almost immediately on the move as soon as he receives the ball.

Not really pacy but has great agility and initial burst like Sanchez.

He was neither silly or flashy tonight, but pretty unremarkable performance nonetheless.

I care more about how he does for us but I am concerned but trust in ETH
It obviously is 2 different envrionnement, lets take Vinicius for exemple, he is performing really well with Real Madrid but is mostly disappointing with Brazil (so far, he yet has to find his place). That being said, those who though that Antony would take Raphinha's spot as a starter were clearly mistaken, he is behind 2 or 3 players as a right winger (which isn't a big deal, he's still young, he'll just have to make the most of the minutes he has and his energy could be very useful as a sub).

Don't think he's gonna make it.

Loan to Marseille and sell him back to Ajax for 30 mil.

I'm just looking for attention

Too early to judge but it is fair to say he tries hard but nothing much comes off as of yet

Some Ajax fans didn’t rate him so hopefully won’t be such an expensive flop.

Get better bit by bit Antony.

By Ajax fans you mean The European Lad? the guy who had a meltdown after literally creaming his pants for Antony's development at Ajax just 2 months prior. It's easy not to rate players once they left your club.

It’s early but there is concern from lots of fan. He seems does not want to take on, dribbling and go past opponents even he has enough space and time. A lot of back pass for keeping possession only. In my opinion, Saka and Martinelli are much more threat than Sancho and Antony any days.

I rated him as a good, but not too special player all throughout the transfer window. Both when it looked likely he would leave as well as stay. Mind you, he will perform better than he has so far for Utd, he showed that tons of times at Ajax. However, I don’t think he will ever be a world beater, or be good enough for a starting sport in a team competing for the top prizes

He has the tools to be successful in the Premier League and he apparently has a really good attitude so I expect him to do good things.
Elanga a better option than Antony. Go grab a coffee.

I'll maintain that we shouldn't have went for him, because he's a link-up player, a runner, like Sancho. We needed someone that can receive the ball and make things happen with it...like Raphinha. The reason we bought him (probably) is that he's still a much better option than Elanga.

I like Antony, but he isn't worth more than 40-50m and I see him becoming a tactical option on the bench, nothing more, in a few seasons' time.

Also, the signing would've made sense if we didn't have Sancho. Rashford or another to-feet left winger with Antony on the other side would be great even long-term. However, I don't see Sancho and Antony working together.

Hoping I will be proven wrong but he isn't gonna produce insane numbers or anything. But he will be of good use to us for a few years at least.

We've had him for what, two games? He was wanted by our very competent manager who knows him very well..

This place is a sewer, honestly.

To suggest Elanga

Maybe you should stop watching any football.
Get off YouTube mate and actually watch a full game.
Have a look at Elanga against Liverpool not so long ago and judge his workrate and the torrid time he gave TAA.
Football is not about doing pirouettes when there is no pressure on the opponent :nono:

There are early signs, even with only 2 games, to read if a player is going to be a failure. Antony thus far has failed to do any of the below:
1) score 5 goals in each game he's played
2) create a minimum of 3 assists per game
3) dribble 60 yards across the pitch and beating at least 13 players (including own teammates) on the way before scoring or assisting
4) Kerlon type seal dribbes
5) change his name to Antony-Antony to prove he's twice as good

Not much hope left for him tbh.

I’ve watched every United game for as many years I can think of pal. But you don’t half come out with some nonsense.

Your using Elanga’s one performance against Liverpool where he did ok, nothing outstanding. He’s been in and out of the team for over a year and majority of the time been considerably underwhelming. Yet according to you, he’s a better option than Antony who’s not even had 5 games in the league.

ETH who has more knowledge than you could ever dream of in football chooses to buy him at all costs knowing full well he has Elanga, but he’s wrong to do so? Go grab another coffee.

I'm desperate for him to work out but I think this take sums up my current feelings about him.

The caveat is it's very very early days and a small sample size. But I see nothing that would worry premier league left backs. He's a hardworking skilful link player, but he seems incapable of bursting past defenders or providing a consistent goal threat.

By the way, this doesn't mean he won't do well for us. But it will require the whole team to be creating patterns of play and overloads - but we're not there yet and may not be for a while. Which exposes players like Antony as they're not capable of creating things by themselves consistently.

I'll trust EtH on this and hope he sees where it all fits together. But right now, for £84m it doesn't look a sensible buy.
