Looks like he’s set to move to Chelsea in the summer. €60m release clause is a bargain.

Can see the Chelsea fans with excitement on twitter, it seems like a very good deal. Not sure however if he comes in as a striker or wide forward. Think it will also take him time to adjust to the league irrespective of who he signed for.

I'm sure there's a 30-something year old £100m striker on big wages somewhere we can buy instead.

That's a decent price for him, though he isn't looking as good atm but there's a year still.

Looks like one or both of Pulisic and Ziyech are off. I'm interested in what we're doing about Havertz. I have long suspected he has his eyes on joining Bayern eventually, and my gut feeling is he won't want to sign a contract extension with Chelsea, so we'll have to make a decision on him one way or the other too as we can't allow him to wind down his contract on purpose.

We could have a new look attack for the 3rd consecutive season next season :wenger:

Because he's neither a striker or a wide forward. He's somewhere in-between, much like Mount and Havertz. He's [probably] better than both of them but he has the same positional ambiguity about him. Maybe Harry Potter will make it work.

A potentially very dumb question, but what was the point in him doing a medical last summer for a move this summer. He’ll have to do a further medical at the time prior to insurance sign off anyway.

If any long term issues were found out now the buying club can plan accordingly.
Guess it's also a way to say: "We wanted him last summer but it didn't work out (yet are still very interested)."

Yeah it's probably just a part of the club's due diligence process but surely that's only necessary if the player has a known history of injury problems? Nkunku only has two recorded injuries for a whopping total of 7 games over his career so far according to his transfermarkt page which is usually quite accurate so clearly that's not the case here.

Whether an early 'secret medical' was necessary or not Nkunku was already one of Chelsea's primary long term attacking targets for this season, along with Rafael Leao of Milan. It's been reported a while ago that because moves for this summer weren't possible both players will be targeted again in the coming windows. Whoever ends up getting him the Nkunku transfer will be relatively easy to complete given the €60M release clause kicking in next year so I guess it makes sense to keep an open communication with the player and his agent throughout the season and try to get him on board with the project ASAP before any other top clubs come sniffing about.

I like Nkunku and hope we get him. Not a done deal at this point by any means but looks like we're leading the race at the moment. Would guess the club will try to finalize a deal in the January window with the player then staying at Leipzig for the remainder of the season and coming in next summer.

In the case of the signing of Nkunku would the signing of Endrick be ruled out?

I don’t believe nothing the media write about Chelsea only 20% ever materialises and they just brush it under the carpet.

Edwards and the RB group guy have both agreed to be DoF’s along with Campos. Yet they are still DoF less.

They’ll have had a medical done for Jude Bellingham and Haaland next week.

Why? Endrick stays in Brazil for the next couple of years regardless of who signs him, no?

Don't mind him going there. Didn't really see the point in United going for him, he was never going to be a striker here and the only position he'd play for EtH would've been on the left, where we have Rashford and Sancho (and IMO, if those 2 are in form, they are better than Nkunku).

I'm surprised that more clubs aren't in for him at that price, perhaps they were and the player has decided that Chelsea is the move he wants?

Hopefully he is another player that looks great in Germany but can't cut it in England.

Saw him play against Rangers last season looked decent but not amazing, scored a good goal though.

In theory Endrick will spend 2 years in Brazil and then come to Europe. If Nkunku performs well, and is young, he still thinks he won't have many minutes.

What's the point on doing a medical one year early? Surely they will have to do another one next summer.

I don't understand why there are so many posts about medicals. Why would they have to do another medical next summer?

Ahead of signing him, they need to do a medical to check they're buying a fully fit player. Once they have signed him - which they need to take him off the market - he is their player and no injury picked up this season will get in the way of that.

Legally, it's more like signing him now and sending him back on loan.

That doesn’t make any sense. Whoever signs him, whether it be Barca, Real or someone else, won’t avoid signing attackers because of a 16 year old in Brazil who’s required to stay in Brazil for at least another 2 years anyway.

Yeah. It's actually a good time to sign him + someone else.

You know he's here in 2 years time. Sign an attacker on a 5 year deal, in year 3 they're both at the club and then you make a call on whether on who's going to be your solution for the 3 years after that.

Endrick will sign when he's 18, I think. And when Nkunku signs Endrick will be 17 years old.
And there he will see in which teams he will have more options to play.

If Nkunku performs at Chelsea at the same level as in Germany, the Brazilian's options will be minimal.

he's going to be or should be one of three big targets next summer along with Jude and Frenkie

For Chelsea, there are plenty of moving parts. We don't know what Sterling will look like 2 years from now, Pulisic and Ziyech, likely Havertz too likely won't be at Chelsea by then either, so yeah signing Nkunku will have no bearing on Endrick's future.

You say that as if Barca won't sign any attackers in the next two years. I'm fairly sure Depay and Torres will be gone by then, and who knows what Lewa and Dembele look like in 2 years. Same goes for Real Madrid. Whoever signs him, will have signed other attackers between now and when Endrick is 18, and thus he's going to choose the club sells him the best project but also the club he would personally like to play/live for the most.

What's the point of a transfer window if you can secure transfers prior to it.

And if it's allowed then why are we waiting patiently for four weeks in January or 8 weeks in the summer.

They systems seems totally messed up to me.

Someone is terrified at the thought of Boehly's Boyz.
Oh we're absolutely terrified pal.

Terrified of them doing a ceremonial kickoff before the start of the game.

Scared witless of them changing the dimensions of Stamford Bridge to suit pull kickers.

Petrified of them hiring a man to sit in a small room and belt out "Blue is the Colour" during the traditional 70th minute stretch.

That's how scared we are.
