Lets be honest it was pretty rancid. Basically the first half of the League Cup tie on Thursday replayed after we scored: We looked for the ball over the top at virtually every opportunity, played very little football through midfield. In the end, when we remembered we didn't have to hit the channel from deep as soon as possible, we worked an opportunity that Garnacho grabbed with both hands (thank God!) Not the way I'd wanna see us play next time we play though. I prefer Ten Hag ball to direct ball.

Your man Ream for Fulham is pretty decent. Should maybe have a look at him.

As for the game, frustrating at times, delighted with result.

We need an Ivan Toney/Victor Osimhen is January. More goals is a must.

EDIT: I thought I read Ream was 25 not fexking 35! Nevermind.
He's an egg and spoon physical head on a stick.Whether he's 25 or 35 he's not United fare.

This was not a win against the Fulham from 2 years ago…this team is good and a tough out for any club right now. They play extremely attractive football.

A win at their place is legit.

Lets bring Dan James back ffs he is a good option off the bench
That moment has passed, but I thought at the time that it was stupid to get rid of him; simply because we had nobody else up front then with his appetite for hard work.

God we were shite and lucky to win.

But on the rare occasion I have a good feeling when a player come on, I just felt Garnacho was going to score. Brilliant to get the winner at the death from him

Relieved that we won but we're still very, very far away from being a genuinely good team.

We'll never be able to dominate these poorer sides with both Fernandes and Rashford in the team, both have really poor ball-retention. You could get away with one but not both
Honestly though, I am a bit surprised by this, but especially Bruno isn’t 100% buying into ETH’s style.

Listen to the ETH interview after Villa game. He was — very — critical of how often we went for the killer ball, our attempts at early crosses etc.

What do we do today — and Bruno more than anyone? Go for the killer ball, early crosses, Hail Marys.

Bruno made a fantastic cross to Shaw with like 10 minutes to go. We got up field, pressured hard, Bruno holds the ball up, get away from his guy, and blows the field wide open by a perfect cross the Shaw. After that we got a good hold on Fulham. He can do it. He is definitely smart enough to understand what ETH wants to do. But he simply opts to go for the killer ball instead like 90% of the time. And it’s his biggest strength, how fast he can recognize the lay of the land and put the ball in the air really fair.

Bruno get his head out of his rear on this one and buy in, he is good enough to be valuable and be a top player without risking possession as much as he does.

What is the story with the Argentina chants and flags?

Remember it a lot when Tevez was a fan favourite here too back in the late 2000’s. Now re-emerging with Martinez and Garnacho

Not moaning about it, just curious what it’s about and why Argentina specifically

He plays for Argentina, born in Spain but opted to play for Argentina.

Because of the hate Beckham got after 98. It was to wind up the English fans, not really celebrating a player

Alright first half. Abysmal second. Too many players seem to already have their heads in Qatar, which was disappointing .

Far far away...
Not the same at all but reminded me of this moment:

Pretty sure it was last min or so too.
87 min

Same end of the pitch

Same corner of the net

Same result

(Next week we beat Liverpool at Enfield, O'Shea 90 min. After those two, I knew we'd win the league.)

I really hope the WC has been a distraction and we'll start seeing the real Ten Hag's United in the new year. We've been very poor since the Spurs win.
Varane and Antony are very critical for our style. Dalot was also a huge miss today. Just shows how poor our squad is.

But this is exactly what we should expect first year. Lot of inconsistent results and some narrow wins/losses.

I find it strange that people keep saying it was smash and grab or we stole it. Our football was weird but we created better chances by far. It was our finishing that almost let us down. Familiar story but it was far from smash and grab.
When you lose the midfield as much as we did in that game those vertical passes have more onus on them to work. Otherwise you're feeding the ball back to the team controlling the midfield.

I think as this team continues to develop they'll improve in possession and get better at slowing the build and retaining the ball in those types of moments. We just went a bit too crazy with those. Clearly that was part of the gameplan but when you're not hitting on them and the other team is possessing and cornering you to death adjustment is required.

Speaking of which, I still have soft spot for Pereira. He had a good game. And we really could use someone like him in the squad.

Very lucky today. Don’t understand how we can dominate Chelsea at Stamford bridge to then doing this performance against Fulham. No consistency what so ever. Glad we got the much needed 3 points though, hate it when there’s breaks coming up and we lose or draw the last game. Can go into the World Cup and enjoy it a bit more now that we won that game. Plenty to play for when the season restarts!

I think it was pretty universal at the beginning of the season it would take time to change things on a consistent basis but moan when it isn’t a vintage performance, despite that, we should have scored at least 4.

If we win our game in hand we are a point off 3rd, new signings are all bedding in pretty well, other players raising their performance levels, the culture and effort on the pitch is night and day.

Some on here expected to dominated every game without giving up chances or anybody making at mistakes. You expectations are completely unrealistic.

I don’t know, it’s the fluff piece interview after the game, is it available somewhere?

Basically said:
-That the players and fans don’t want the World Cup at this time
-The surroundings is a shame, everyone killed at construction sites
-Football is for everyone, it’s a shame that the cup is played at a place that isn’t for everyone
-This World Chp shouldn’t have happened
Thanks for the summary mate

It never really worked out for us before either...Heinze, openly asked to join Liverpool...Tevez, betrayed us and joined City...ADM...need I go into this one?

I’ll try and be positive with today as it’s the exact type of game we’d have drawn or even lost over the past few years, it’s nice to see us still going to the end in games again like we used to do.

Today showed our serious lack of depth as playing Malacia right back could have cost us the game multiple times, shows just how much ETH doesn’t rate AWB at all though.

Fernandes was at his most frustrating and I wish ETH would bench him at times to show him he’s not indispensable but I guess with Sancho and Antony both out we had no choice.

I think the World Cup has come at a perfect time for us and I’m hoping that the likes of Martial and Sancho have time to get to full fitness whilst others aren’t overplayed so they’re fresh for us heading into the new year.

A few thoughts:
1) How is Elanga getting playing time?
2) Martinez is incredible; he was everywhere.
3) Weren't we in for Paulinha at some point? What a player.
4) Lindolof is a bluffer; it's robbery that he's in a United shirt.

As much as I love all our academy players have wonderful career, Pereira is wise to make a move. We are not so short in mid but absolutely lack in depth on right side. Let’s hope Amad and the others can make a grade there.

Yes, his move was the right one from his POV. We do short in quality in midfield. Missing either Eriksen or Bruno in midfield, our game suffer so much.

Yes, hopefully any of our youngster gets more chance than now in midfield.

Just back home from the game. Our fans are the best in the country, the atmosphere was just fantastic from two hours before ko to well after the final whistle. My seat was right in front of Garnacho and everyone stayed behind to watch the highlights on the big screen because they wanted to understand how he managed to do what he did. I know it looks straight forward on tv but there was something extraterrestrial about the way he flashed in there. Absolutely brilliant day out

Guess the 2nd half was quite poor then. Didn't manage to watch most of the 2nd half, but thought we created loads of chances and were very fluid in the final third, but profligate and some poor decision making. Garnacho is the real deal.

Interesting. Finally start a match with two of our three first choice front three and we start creating loads of chances. Nuts that we’re into the WC and haven’t yet started with 3/3 but there you go.
Hopefully that'll change and Ronaldo is gone in January.
