The eventual aftermath

How do we think the aftermath of this interview and theatrics with affect the squad, will Ten Hag use it as a way to galvanise the team to work harder?

Will the other players see what has been mentioned and become disillusioned with the club as well?

Will young players like Garnacho press on or jump ship as their idol has?

I might be in an minority but I don’t think this interview will be taken too seriously and will have very little impact on the dressing room. I’m sure the players knew of the situation long before this interview. They train with him nearly everyday.

On the subject of ronaldo , I would imagine the club would happily part ways with him the minute the transfer window opens and say goodbye to which is hopefully the final circus.

It will be the end of Man Utd circus and adult Disney land. We will move into new era with ETH leading us and rebuild a great team on par with all the great teams under SAF

Judging from reports, it seems like the players aren't really arsed and would prefer he go. I'm sure Garnacho wouldn't be too happy to see his idol acting like a brat.

I'm pretty sure Ronaldo isn't thought in that much of a high regard within the squad, and why would he be? I doubt they'll care that much and I would say most will be happy he's no longer around.

It will have little to no effect.

It won't have that much of an impact as Ronaldo wasn't that relevant to the team anymore. If anything I can see it being a lift to the team to not have him sulking around.

Where the impact might happen is off the pitch if the Glazers take a harsh stand. Although they probably won't.

This needs to be dealt with to mid December with simple but fairly quick action. EtH is literal months here and already endures a circus from certain players. Not even Ole had such quick escalation.

I'd love to finally focus on actual football than hearing desperate interviews, boring twitter apologies or any drama that is taxing the football atmosphere.

18 year old Garnacho is fully focused on what manager wants him to do, shame his adult teammates can't do that for more than 5 matches. No worries about the lad, he got real mentor in Lisandro who's leading by example.

Things could be shady for a while. I'll be 50 cents he'll go in January. At the end of the day the Glazers don't care about The Game, only Lloyd Banks. We should replace Ronaldo with a Young Buck like Garnacho.

Its gonna free the squad up to develop in much the same way it did when RVN left. Which is truly ironic given who is involved.

On Ronaldo himself, when one of your workmates makes a twat of himself you are generally glad to see the back of them.

I think they'll be pretty happy he's gone tbh.

I can see us on an upward trajectory now. For ETH and the coaches especially, he's made life a lot harder work.

Sounds like the players want him gone anyway so not the big impact Ronaldo was expecting. That’s it, by the sounds of it you’d think it was last May but we are making strides in the right direction so he can feck off to some 4th tier league and relive his glory days there

IF we get a new striker and he is gone, it will be like 2nd half of 2005-2006 when we replaced RVN with Saha and saw a liberated team on the pitch. I'd be optimistic about such a scenario again, fingers crossed

The player I’d be most worried about would be Casemiro, don’t have anything to base it on besides being ex-Real Madrid and playing with Ronaldo, let’s hope he stays grounded.

huh? He is a consummate professional. I doubt he cares much for Ronaldo one way or another.

I hope his departure will galvanise the squad and hopefully motivate a few players to prove everyone wrong. I'm interested to see how this one plays out though and if it ends in a mutual termination of the contract. If we pay up his contract we'll look like right mugs but hopefully that won't happen.

One slight negative is that, as obnoxious and irritating as Ronaldo is/has been, it does not excuse some of the players last season from downing tools and putting in those performances. A number of players have been here for 5-6 years or more and collapsing to a 6th place finish is nothing new for them. In a way i hope the problems last season don't get put entirely on Ronaldo's shoulders because that's just not true.

I think everyone will be glad to see the back of him and it will strengthen the team spirit going forward. Piers probably thinks he's getting one over on Utd with his Ronaldo stuff but he's really been doing us a massive favour.

I'd say Dalot. Ronaldo named him specifically in his interview. Which indicates a touch of arse licking involved to get in Ronaldo's good books.

Other than that, think we'll be better - should leave no excuses for not buying a striker in January. Until then, just have to pray Martial stays fit.

Like it or not a lot of players look up to Ronaldo. Bruno, Casemiro, Anthony, Dalot, Garnacho etc would hate for them to ease up on their playing because of this.

You wouldn’t be worried Casemiro might see United don’t have the ambition or facilities of Real and get disillusioned has his friend has?
Why would I be worried about a complete hypothetical based on absolutely nothing?

The most likely outcome of this is that the players will be smart enough to cop that he's a self obsessed cnut who was only trying to further his own selfish agenda.

Do we allow him to walk and thereby send a message to other players that if you want out then bad mouthing the club the the way to become a free agent?

I'd rather we keep him and let him either buy himself out of his contract or find a club willing to pay a transfer fee, even if it's only a couple of mill. That'll teach him.

His replacement is key to what happens thereafter. We need a world class goal scorer to win trophies.

Why would the players become disullusioned with the club when the spirit around the team has been high in spite of Ronaldo's antics, the team has been good without Ronaldo, the manager has brought nice leadership?

One of the things that surprises me the most is how certain people have decided to be extremely negative in November out of nowhere.

Casemiro seems a self-motivated individual who has already said he loves the Premier League. He's starting and trusted by the manager and very well paid for it. I don't see the issue.

So you think Ten Hag will use this as a way to bring the squad closer together, as a we got rid of the virus sort of way?

I hope to see more of the same come December and maybe the purchase of Ivan Toney in January as someone above mentioned like Louy Saha.

Frankly I have no insight on it. I doubt that it will be used for anything positive, I think that he either created issues that didn't exist or it will be brushed away as soons as he leaves.

I can really see the team getting galvanized after the saga. We might end up having a last laugh by winning couple of trophies end of the season

Once Ronaldo leaves, I would love for ETH to come out in one of the press conferences and answer when he’s asked about Ronaldo - “he’s not a United player and I don’t want to discuss a player that’s not United!” Simple and sweet!

Obviously, last year's performances and how bad they were could never be attributed to one factor or one individual. All great failures or successes have multiple factors that align together at the worst or best possible time. Having said that, most of last year's problems were/are fixable. He was/isn't.

This will only bring the team closer together and make the manager and what is being built stronger. If anything we should thank Ronaldo in a bizarre way, for being a deluded arrogant idiot. But nah lets not.

Probably everybody thinks it’s best if he leaves but he will want a pay off and I don’t think we’ll give it to him. I think it could get a bit nasty.
