What's the cut off point where coming on for the last 3 minutes is an insult rather than doing your job?
when the score was 6-3, being dominated, with no hope for any point. Like, what was actually the purpose?

Anyway, that was possibly the most expensive 3 minutes for any footballer, that cost him 1 million. He should've just came in and jogged around, like Rashford did last season against City, and most would just forgot about it.

@MrEleson

it’s just all excuses.

he hasn’t looked distracted, he’s just getting old.

his legs aren’t under him anymore, he’s not able to get away from defenders like he used to. his shooting is failing him.

of course in the short term he’s going to blame that on circumstances, but he can’t hide behind that forever.
Don't worry, at the age of 50, there'd still be excuses for him. Like time does not catch up to everyone.

He quite possibly just sank our Europa campaign and is still talking about playing CL football.

Funny how he always gets his whole family involved in his bullshit, mother, sister, kids, I'm surprised he hasn't brought up that his grand ma would rotate in her grave if she could see how EtH is treating him.
Thats because he's a family man.

Its the quickest way to get sympathy. How many times have you heard your co worker taking a day off because his grandma has died for the 8th times this year?

It amuses me how everyone took ten Hag for his word with the whole 'not bringing him on against City out of respect for his career' shtick. That was complete and utter nonsense. Ten Hag was doing him a kindness and trying to be diplomatic because he knew that Ronaldo was a sensitive little soul and that the media would be salivating if he told the actual truth. The actual truth being that there was absolutely no desire to bring the player on in that game as he is absolutely useless. Martial was already subbed on in preference to him.

100% agreed. ETH was just being diplomatic about it. It's obvious Ronaldo was shit and (most likely) wouldn't do much in that game. Although i don't know ETH's purpose on brought him in with 3 minutes left on that 6-3 City dominated game. It was useless thing to do. Although Ronaldo should just come in and did whatever the feck he was told to do.

Sorry, but you couldn’t be more wrong. We were putrid not because of Ronaldo, but because of a lot of shit Ole allowed to fester. I personally give De Gea more credit for saving our season from the unthinkable, but Ronaldo was the only outfield player who put in a decent shift last season. He kept us in the top half of the table when everyone else was dropping turd after turd.
I can see how it would look that way. But that's not what was actually happening.

With Maguire at the back and the entire team misfiring, do you genuinely believe this?
Yeah I do. I think he was the reason they were misfiring. A stronger coach could have prevented it. But a stronger coach would never have allowed him through the door. That's why ETH leaves him on the bench until he explodes and sacks himself.

ETH could have subbed him on late for any reason. We played well, maybe he saw an opportunity to bed CR into a setup that was actually functional, maybe he knew we would go aerial in the final minutes and thought CR was our best bet on converting, maybe it was a loyalty test.

If none of these do it for you then take solace in knowing the manager needs feck all justification to bring on a bench option anyway so can stop asking already. Does anyone remember having any discussion about late subs being disrespectful? No one would have even seen it that way if he didn't turn it into an affair.

Even if the player didn't like it proper procedure would have been to come on but raise issue after the game behind closed doors. Can't believe people are even sympathising his rationale. His reaction guaranteed the relationship could never go back to normal. Basically he had little right to complain but even if there was it should have been done after the game.

We didn’t want one of the best players in history? A player who scores goals like no one else. We needed that. We all wanted him to come home. Hindsight is 20/20. None of us saw this coming. He’s never bitched and moaned like this before. Usually just shuts up and gets on with it. Now he’s leaving in a worse state by his own making. Feck him.
There was a thread with an OP named Raja or smth like that and he was absolutely right about everything. But he was abused terribly. Poor guy.

Why people have trouble with the "rat" comment?

I don't consider "rat" as an insult. Consider for a moment, the world a rat lives in. It's a hostile world indeed.

Has a rat ever done anything to you to create this animosity you feel toward them? Rats were the cause of the Bubonic plague, but that was some time ago. In all your born days, has a rat ever caused you to be sick a day in your life? I purpose to you, any disease a rat could spread, a squirrel could equally carry. Yet I assume you don't share the same animosity if Ronaldo call Rooney a squirrel, do you?

He hates that football's a business remember, so it's just one of those things.
A business paying him millions, but that's not important either.
If you put together all the reasons why he was giving that interview, he surely is the biggest cnut in football

I actually believe by Ronaldo doing this he’s done us a massive favour.
He’s done to me at UTD.
However, by throwing his toys out the pram like this, the club need to invest in facilities and they now need to go hard in the transfer market to divert the attention elsewhere both in terms of squad harmony and in terms of keeping the fans happy. Win/win thank you bugs bunny.

Can we now promote Bruno back to free kick taker, we might actually score some rather than see Ronaldo hog them all, do a stupid run up and blast it over the bar.

It was very predictable that as soon as he wasn't first choice we were going to have a problem. We didn't even need him going into last season and many of us said as much. It was disastrous planning.

When we didn't get rid this summer, a big fall out could be seen coming a mile off.

I want a super-model wife too but I doubt it would happen. Who in the CL would pick him up, mid-season though with no -transfer fee, it does help his chances.
Benfica?
Chelsea, allegedly. Although they almost certainly won’t be in it next year so the fun and games would start all over again in the summer.

If I was Potter I would only agree to it if he has preseason to figure out how to fit The Betrayed One into his new system.
Otherwise I can't see Potter lasting the season

Perhaps but surely everything that has happened in recent months has to have had an impact. I just can’t see how his level could’ve dropped so much in under a year without any external factors playing a role.

I think the WC will show whether he’s really finished or not.
It didn't.

He was pretty no existent in terms of pressing, hold up, link up last season as well, anyone who would've actually taken the time to analysed his game beyond looking at the scoresheet would've noticed that. On top of that he wasn''t even scoring at an exceptional rate like Haaland either (TBH in his entire career, he never was), his conversion rate is pretty run of the mill. He was just being force fed a ton of chances (to the detriment of basically all our other attacking players).

Please don't talk like last season he was playing like some prime Barca Messi and suddenly became a plank of wood this season, that's just simply not true. He lost the only thing he had going for him; which is his (very average) conversion rate.

Tbh I’m still processing a lot of it. I was pretty surprised he would so unashamedly call his ex teammates rats, etc. I was also surprised at how little he could accept any form of criticism. He somehow still seems to think he’s the best in the world when that isn’t really the case anymore. He definitely lives in his own bubble a little and some of the other stuff he said/gloated about during the interview just came off as cringe, especially with Piers constantly sucking up to him throughout the entire thing.

With regards to performances, he’s been poor this season but I still believe that he’s better than he has shown. I think he alluded to something that was interesting…which was that he wasn’t quite as motivated in the last few months like he normally is (seemingly due to a combination of personal problems with his kid & not being undroppable anymore/the team gradually moving on from being built around him).
His level has been worrying but I think half of that is because he doesn’t suit Ten Hag ball and if he was to start afresh elsewhere, he would probably still score goals regularly imo.

I don’t think ETH did him wrong per say. But I think he definitely tried to make an example of him.

Not sure of where his future lies. It’s impossible to say. Part of me is hoping he has a great World Cup and calls it a day. But I know he won’t retire unless he wins the thing. I can’t see any big clubs coming in for him (he’s just way too old & the worldwide media attention & scrutiny he brings is too overwhelming). I think maybe he goes back to sporting. It’s hard to say.
In what way?

Do you reckon he's been treated with a stronger hand than any other player would've been?

I thought the case was thrown out? Or did he pay her off?

Can he go to the MLS without getting arrested?
The case was dismissed some time ago. It’s just that some Messi fans on social media started and perpetuated the idea that he couldn’t go to America which then got lapped up by everyone who didn’t look at the details. I guess it started off as a joke but then it started being taken as fact. It’s crazy how some misinformation online could go a long way.

He paid her off the first time and the second time they did not consider the evidence because it was leaked document about him admitting to it and argued it breached his privacy or some other bs. Either way he got away on a technicality

2+2 = 54

The defence and midfield was misfiring becayse they were not good enough and Rashford had major injury issues.

Ronaldo was a bad signing but he didn’t cause bad performances from the likes of Maguire. Oles change in setup to he more aggresive did
