He has 7 months left on his contact. We have option to extend for a year but that's not going to happen.
I think we will extend his contract.
The club is badly run and we will refuse to let go of a player who has been useless for 10 years.
If we get decent owners, they'll eject players like him, immediately.

I'd extend his contract just to wind up people here. It'll be worth every penny.

He is Winston Bogarde on steroids. I wonder what his day is like? Does he even go to Carrington or straight to his personal physio every morning?

Would have been a wise move of him to marry a physio in all honesty.

But I have respect for the man. He never kicked up a fuss. He didn't let Sir Alex's comments at the start of his career get to his head. He worked his way back from countless injuries. Everything considered it's not really a mystery why he couldn't attain the level necessary. He knew he had a good deal with what he got from the club, there's more than enough examples of players that never realized it. I wish him well for the time when he's finally gone.

I think he can still put a shift, he could be a good backup for Lisandro and Varane.

My feelings towards Ralf Rangnick chaged considerably last season when he started Jones and Maguire against Salah and Mane at Anfield !

What on earth was he thinking?!

Phil Jones is going to be that one old guy at your place of employment who has been there 50 years and is a really nice guy.. but everyone is too afraid to tell him that he is no longer needed. So he is given all the odd jobs around the place to make him feel like he is contributing.

He's probably kept around because other than De Gea he is the only one remaining with PL/CL medals, and he is required to wear them on his track suit at every training session with the kids.

The fact that four managers have renewed his contract must indicate he has a value unseen to the average fan, perhaps he could (should he wish too) give away many secrets/skeletons from the dressing room.
Whatever, when I have seen him play (not that much recently) he always gave 100% and is fearless as a lion, or maybe that should be a kamikaze pilot!

He could renovate the jacuzzi before retiring.

Just seen a highlight from the World Cup 2018 & saw him celebrating. Had totally forgotten he’d gone to that. Such a shame how his career panned out.

We don't need to tell him he's not needed, just ghost his WhatsApp messages and quietly let his contract expire

His contract expires this year but there's an option to extend it by one year. Can he trigger it or the club?

Phil should actually have a statue outside OT, in honour of his long standing service to the club.

I genuinely wonder what he does during the day.
Like does he actually train with the team or is he just perma-injured at home?
Do he go to the club every morning and watch his teammates train or is it like "I'm injured I'm staying home"

Let’s be fair Ole was interim and the club had started talks before he got here.

People say if you are handsome and/or beautiful you have an unfair advantage. Thats not right and Phil Jones is the one who breaks that silly rule. Have a face capable of funny expressions purely for memes and you can feed 3 generations by doing nothing. Even Ten Hag is scared of him, he made Ronaldo leave but Phil Jones? unmovable object.

in terms of money earned v minutes of football played, surely Phil Jones is the GOAT?

There can't be a player who has earned more for less in PL history?

 His last and greatest career achievement: can he outlast DDG? I'd be doing everything to get fit for the second half of the season if I were him, in order to gain that +1 from the club.

Signed in 2011, he has spent 12 years straight at United, not even been on loan. I don't see any point in him looking for a new club if he isn't renewed at United. No club can offer him the wages and patience he's had here with the injuries and all. Hope he has a mind for coaching, all the time spent on the sidelines watching on could have been put into excellent use studying the game.
