Welcome to Manchester reception committee
Marca has run a long interview with Ron over the past couple of days - it made interesting reading, to me at least. A few highlights for old times sake then.

In the "one word answers" section,
Stadium? - Two, Old Trafford and the Bernabeu
Rival? - Liverpool :D

Talking about the fans;
It was my home. I played there for 6 seasons and the United fans always made me feel welcome. We won a lot of things together. The crown sang my songs - I always got a lot of love from them at OT. The Manchester fans are special.

About SAF:
He's been my sporting father. One of the most important influences on me and my career. I thank him for all he taught me.

Was the price fair:
It must have been - Madrid paid it. I'll try and show that they were right.

About Di Stefano being at tomorrow's presentation;
He's an inspiration - a Madrid legend, like Bobby Charlton at United.

What do you want to win?
Everything - like I did with United. But the league is the most important.
.

He can't stop mentioning us can he? Silly lad, it's probably dawning on him Madrid is a circus.

According to Feedingseagulls, the fans pushed him away.

It's easy to be gracious when you've gotten what you want, and left the club.

At times his actions on the pitch didn't show enough respect for the fans or the club, I genuinely believe that. All the carefully worded soundbites in the world won't change that.

I was wondering why he never seemed as nice and as mature when he was here.

Tevez has been a wonderful PR man for him though.

In full length interviews with the press and MUTV etc he's aways seemed pretty decent to me. It was usually after he got sound-bit, retranslated a couple of times, and turned into a tabloid headline he sounded bad.

I don't know how well he'll cope at Madrid - I don't think they want him as a footballer and I think he'll get fed up with that. The circus starts off at 9pm (Spanish time) tomorrow with one TV channel airing the whole "signing" presentation live and the others expected to cut into the 9 O'Clock news shows to offer the highlights. There will be big screens and fireworks - I doubt the Madrid board will need to hire clowns though.

My god what a ****..

(I'm perhaps over egging this cos I was so wrong about Tevez!!:D)

Sure it's easy to be gracious, it's also nice....There was no need for him to mention Bobby there, he's doing a Beckham and bigging up the size of the club he's come from, refusing to play their so whats it like joining the greatest club of all time then? game, which is great!!...I'm sure he'll play along tomorrow though, but again, I don't begrudge him..

Why has a P and an R together been censored to become Page Ranking!

He's got a bloody good public relations agent, hasn't he?
People are starting to respect him again.

Not anymore mate, they're called Barcelona now.

Stadium: Old Trafford, Bernabeu
Let's see how they support you through 'thick and thin' like we did...

aye I hate to sound bitter but I question his motives and strange as it sounds he's hedging his bets: If it fecks up here, I'm going back there.

Love to know what was said between him and SAF at that farewell meal.

"See you in January for 10quid when you hand in the request in."

From my sources down the local.

Farewell meal? what?

and tbh I've actually really realised this week i don't have any ill feeling to him as a player, hate real and hope they don;t win a bean but ronnnie is ok in my book.

Just watching the dvd he seems like a genuinley nice bloke and actually very proud to have been a part of united and genuinley i think has an affection for the club and fans.

Great player and i doubt i'll ever see the like here for a very very long time.

They reportedly went for a meal at a hotel in Alderley Edge before he flew onto Portugal.

So heres one for you's; if Reals galacticos turn out to be shite because they have a very unbalanced team with no defence and Ronaldo decides he wants to come back to us, would you have him back?

FWIW, its a "yes" from me.

It would never be the same I think. No matter how good he is at football, the cervical cord is well and truly ripped.

Unless of course he wore a Ronaldo 7 United shirt to a Real Madrid press conference and said "Shut Up Perez, Boss, please come and get me."

I imagine SAF's Bentley would be speeding its way their. What the feck am I on about?

I'd have him back in a heartbeat tbh, anyone who doesnt want cristiano ronaldo as a player in thier team needs a footballing lesson, personalyity i could understand not wanting but the player no chance. If ronnie came out saying "i made a mistake coming here and there is only one place i can go back to now, sir alex come and get me!" id be chuffed.
