Which Tevez goal has been chalked off, is there a source for this?

Who has scored the most winners / equalisers for us?

Berba has had one goal chalked off so is he now officially on 20 goals still 2 ahead of Tevez.

He's been magnificent this season, his goals have been the main reason we've won the title, he's still our top goalscorer.

Difference is this season, he stepped up when we needed him to. I hope he plays against Blackpool and can get himself a few goals because he truly deserves it. I'd be delighted if he won the Golden Boot after all the criticism he's had the last few years.
Yep, hopefully he'll be signing that contract extension in the near future.

Additionally to R_Nick's post about winning goals...

From @MDelaneyST twitter

Some interesting stats from PL players whose goals are directly responsible for most points (ie, equalisers and goals that put you into lead

Players directly responsible for most points: Berbatov 18pts, Tevez 14, Malouda 14, Hernandez 12, Adam 12, Van der Vaart 12, Rodallega 11...

Bent 11, Van Persie 10, Torres 10, Dempsey 10, Jones 10 and Rooney 10. So much for Berbatov only scoring in routs.

He's had a really good season and, what is even more important imo, after beeing dropped to the bench in so many important games this season he never came out and talked shit in public or to the media.
Top professional and one of our most important players this season imo.

Don't think even the Berbaflop camp side will deny that Berba has been a big reason to our league success this season. However, I think those that don't fancy have reasons (not ones I agree) to knock him with.

The thought is all the points / goals Berba has got against lower opposition is not that high an achievement, that in some ways anyone else could have done that job. The view from his critics is that Berba should be getting goals/points against the top sides and that they use as a way to indict his usefulness at the club when he doesn't. For 30 mil that he should be a player that is one of the first names on the team sheet in no matter what game it and that player should be delivering on the biggest stages.

As someone that like Berbatov being at United and what he brings, I also do wish that he would be magical on the big stage more often but, for multitudes of reasons he hasn't been, part of his fault, some of it has been the overall team displays in some of the big games where Berbatov has played but, not shined.

Still, I think he gives us something different to Rooney and Chicha in his ability to hold up play and make things happen in tight areas. When you have teams that sit deep and are hard to break down, he is a player through his vision and ability with the ball create out of nothing or in the tightest of spaces. That he has managed to score against the canon fodder is a testament in itself as this season has shown, it doesn't just happen because on paper they are a weaker team.

A positive in his performance this season is that while he maybe has faded towards the end of the season, it has allowed for Rooney and Chicha to come on fresh and strong. Just like Nani carried the wing play for us a large part of the season, a fresh Valencia now is carrying on where he left off, so are Chicha/Rooney doing the same from the foundation Berba setup for the team through his contributions for a lot of the season.

Either this is wrong or Republic of Mancunia with the 7 winners which would equate to 21 points.

I think this uses the marginal scoring ie its the winner if its the second goal if we win say 3-1.

Outright winners berba has 3.

If you score the second in a 3-1 win you've scored the winner, that's entirely fair

It's been a good campaign for Berbatov, much better than his previous two, and he's scored more goals and looked a better player during it. But he's found himself out of the team, because another player far more suited to the teams play has been given a chance and taken it with interest. That's football

Not sure about the outright winners stat, but for the stat I posted I believe scoring a goal that proved to be a winner is worth 2pts (as it turns a 1pt draw into a 3pt win), and scoring a goal that turns out to be an equaliser is unsurprisingly worth 1pt. I think the totals are a little conservative though as, just for example, as far as I understand it Berbatov would only be awarded 2pts for the Liverpool hat trick game, despite him scoring the 'equalising' goal too (I know he scored his 2nd before Liverpool scored theirs).

It counts the marginal goal as in the Liverpool case so I suspect he would be awarded 2 points for the winner and 1 more for the equaliser ergo 3 points for us.

I think he has gained us more points than other players but then how do you score the defenders for not letting them in?

Has he signed his extention or are United waiting till the end of the season to confirm it? I hope he stays.

Of course not conceding goals is just as important to as team as scoring is, but I don't think this particular comparison is attempting to judge all players and all aspects of football. It's not even comparing all aspects of attacking play - just the important goalscoring statistics.

I assume Berba will start against Blackpool as if he does not I would expect it means he could be a starter in the CL final?

I think SAF has said that the players for the CL final will play some part in either the Blackpool game or Nev's testimonial, he said it was a mistake giving them two weeks rest before Rome. I'd guess that Berbatov will start with either Rooney or Owen against Blackpool (probably Owen), and Hernandez and the other one will maybe get a half each in the testimonial.

Who really gives a feck if he's top scorer, you sound like a bunch of scousers desperate for a golden gloves award. He's top scorer for the Champions, that's all that matters!

RACE FOR THE GOLDEN BOOT

Dimitar Berbatov enters the final day of the season as the Barclays Premier League’s joint top scorer, level with former Reds team-mate Carlos Tevez on 20 goals.

United welcome Blackpool to Old Trafford on Sunday, while Tevez’s Manchester City travel to Bolton’s Reebok Stadium. Should neither player score, or both score the same number of goals, the Golden Boot will be shared. But that’s not what Sir Alex wants.

The Reds boss has plumped for Javier Hernandez ahead of Berbatov in recent weeks but confirmed United’s Bulgarian striker will start on Sunday in a game Sir Alex predicts will feature “a few goals”.

“It’s obvious that the emergence of Chicharito has made it difficult for me to pick Berbatov above Chicharito given his performance level, his goals, his freshness and his pace,” Sir Alex explained at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“I think Dimitar understands that and he’s never complained. And when Dimitar’s been given his opportunity he’s done his best. He’ll play on Sunday and hopefully he’ll end up as the top goalscorer.”

Reds full-back Patrice Evra, who forged a strong friendship with Carlos Tevez during his time at Old Trafford, agrees with the manager: he wants Dimitar to win the Golden Boot.

“Berba is different class,” Patrice said. “I really hope he ends the season as the league’s top scorer. Whenever I get the ball I’ll be passing to Berba because I want him to score!”

Berbatov's league goals have come at a rate of one every 106 minutes this season, with Tevez finding the net for City, on average, every 121 minutes. Take penalties out of the equation (Berbatov hasn't netted from the spot) and Tevez's strike-rate rises to one every 151 minutes.

The Bulgarian's also scored more winning goals (seven) than any other player in the Premier League this term. Fingers crossed he grabs another on Sunday...

Just as we thought, great to hear and I hope he gets the golden boot he deserves.

A good performance should solidify his spot on the bench for the final. He should be ahead of Owen in the pecking order as it is.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.

Good points. I hope he stays next season, and I see absolutely no reason why he shouldn't. Who better are we going to get as thrid choice striker? There's no reason why he couldn't have a similarly crucial role to play at some stage next year. We've barely even seen a Berba/Hernandez partnership yet, which looks great on paper and could be hugely important for us if Rooney gets injured.

Berbandez worked very well when we were 2-0 down to Blackpool few weeks ago.

Dimitar's Golden Boot delight

After holding the Premier League trophy aloft, Dimitar Berbatov has now got his hands on a personal trophy for his efforts during the title-winning campaign.

The Bulgarian’s 20 goals were enough to share top spot in the scorers’ chart with City’s former Red Carlos Tevez and pick up the Golden Boot award from Barclays.

In a season where the classy striker hit three hat-tricks, including an incredible five-goal show against Blackburn, the prize is certainly well merited.

“On a personal level I’m delighted to win this award,” he told ManUtd.com. “To finish as the joint-top scorer in the best league in the world is a huge honour and something I’ll always be very proud of. I love scoring goals and providing entertainment for the fans – I hope I’ve done that this season.

“Most importantly, though, I feel happy knowing that my goals helped the team win the league. We made history this season by winning the title for the 19th time and it was a great feeling to be involved in that achievement. Individual awards are fine, but they mean nothing if you don’t win trophies as well.

“I want to thank the United fans for their support and, of course, my team-mates, who make it very easy for me to enjoy my time here and score goals.”

Good season after everyone thought he was most certainly out. Him and Nani.

But Ferguson fought for them, he knew there was something there and now we are looking at the players with the most assists and the joined top scorer in the league

Dare I say, these were as well the two most entertaining players for us this year.

Oh Berbatov, he would be the perfect player for this game, but only one side of the game, when we have the ball. Without the ball, his nonchalant strolling will give some of us headaches.
