Nope, we don't get paid. Purely voluntary and it is a pleasure to do so.

Wow! Well first of all that's commendable. Thank you.

Second, how do you guys find the time to actually do this all day, given that a lot of you seem continuously active on the site?
The work involved in maintaining a database whose largest table must be that of posts (which is around ~21 million I believe) would, presumably, require semi-regular care.
Damien
There's about 16 of us active covering a range of time zones (some from India, USA etc) so we try to have someone active at all times for moderating work in terms of posts etc.

The actual database work is sorted by the site owner (Niall) whose day job is web stuff and the company he works for operates the network and systems infrastructure for the caf.
Damien
Niall created the Match Day stuff (lineup, score prediction, ratings, MOTM and all that), Threadmark add-on, Automated tweets page (which you'll see in January if you've not seen it already) himself which'd probably cost thousands if someone else was employed to do so.
Damien
A lot of sites wouldn't be able to cope with the traffic we have but Niall has had 20 years of running this place which started off as a school project and because of his love of dev work, we've coped with the traffic increase and general infrastructure of the site over time fine.
TheOrgazoid
Wow, well again Thank You to all of you guys that volunteer to ensure the moderation of such a wonderful forum.
TheOrgazoid
And to @Niall...
Well, a huge, huge Thank You for creating all of this.
Damien is quite correct - it would have cost a ton in terms of consultation fees and Dev time for someone else to write such a beautifully running and fully featured forum.

I bet it has been a lot of fun to build and keep building on!

Massive Thanks and Well Done.
Jason.
