Glazer hands Fergie £35M to rebuild Man Utd midfield

Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer has handed manager Sir Alex Ferguson £35 million to rebuild his midfield next season.

The People says £35m will be made available to Fergie this summer as the 64-year-old manager continues to rebuild a team to challenge Chelsea's domestic dominance.

Stars coming under scrutiny are Lyon duo Mahamadou Diarra and Juninho, Bayern Munich's Michael Ballack, Villareal's Argentine playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme and his compatriot, Javier Mascherano, who is at Brazilian club Corinthians.

Sources in America claim cash is being shifted from the Glazers' other sporting operation, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

so discuss

Not so sure about Riquelme, did not work out at Barca.....he might not have the temprament to play at a big club. Doubt SAF will go for Masc after what happend to him with Veron....alltough Masc is different type midfielder. Ballack: if he wanted SAF could have brought him in now when he is being offered.

I like Juninho gives a threath on setpieces something which we have lacked.

Gattuso would also do nicely, and Pirlo......or even Aimar

sounds like bollocks to me. If he was serious about putting money in to United and servicing the debts he'd flog Tampa Bay. That would pay off 1 of the debts in an instant and massively reduce our monthly out goings

Mascherano is 100% Chelski bound - dream on if you think we'll get anyone owned by MSI....

well, gill said we'll make two big signings this summer. 35mp is probably a random number and a bit over the top, but putting together the final and arguably most important pieces of the rebuilding-jigsaw could very well be very pricey. especially considering saf's poor track-record of midfield-signings over the last couple of seasons.

The notion that every problem can only be fixed by tens of millions is getting ridiculous- if the club were canny enough, they'd have gone for van bommel on a free and ballack at the end of the season for the hefty fee of £0m - 2 tall, strong, technically outstanding leaders.

Buy Ricardo Quaresma, Juninho and Diarra then everything should be sorted:

------------------van der Sar------------------
--Neville------Rio------------Vidic------Evra---
--Quaresma---Diarra--------Juninho---Ronaldo--
---------------Ruud--------Rooney-------------

Why does that setup not get me excited for some reason?

------------------van der Sar----------------
-Neville------Rio------------Brown------Heinze
-----------------Gattuso--------------------
Ronaldo-----Rooney-------Scholes-------Giggs
-------------------Ruud---------------------

Thats better. ;)

vidic and Evra are unproved (so far), as are diarra and juninho in some ways in regards to the PL.

Gattuso would slot in and provide world class DM experienced to what we have.

I like the changes to the middle, but I think a healthy Heinze is better than Evra, and would look elsewhere for a winger, although Quaresma is good player.
