I’m aware. But thank you. This is Burnley under Kompany. They are nothing like the old Burnley who used to play hoof ball all game.

Shaw would be an LCB though, which is where Martinez plays. If Maguire is sold and we don't bring in another center back, I could see the potential of moving Shaw to center back and letting both Fernández and Malacia battle it out for the starting left back position. But Malacia's injuries and lack of gametime is a concern somewhat.
Some people seem to and I don't get it. Malacia is a much more promising player in that particular position. Having said that, Alvaro seems like he might have a lot of potential being pushed more to the middle of the pitch.Does anyone rate him above Malacia? If his attack is strong but defensively he’s iffy wouldn’t he be better off in a lcm role or higher up?
Don't agree. They play good football but think they'll struggle to translate it to the PL and be under the cosh for most of the season. Not a good loan move for a player who's best attributes are going forward.Tweet

Would be a great move tbh
Fernandez is the more talented in possession. More of a creative/attacking threat. Needs to work hard on the defensive side of his game though.Malacia is a much more promising player in that particular position.
Or maybe its were he needs to go to horn that aspect of his game?Don't agree. They play good football but think they'll struggle to translate it to the PL and be under the cosh for most of the season. Not a good loan move for a player who's best attributes are going forward.
All well and good but if he gets exposed defensively week in week out with Burnley getting relegated it's hard to argue it's productive for him. Williams at Norwich for example.Or maybe its were he needs to go to horn that aspect of his game?
What? He's looked very composed on the ball and way way better going forward than Malacia, the latter of whom has also shown some flaws in his defending.Just based on this pre-seasons, Malacia looks street ahead of this youngster. And we have Dalot who could play as LB.
I don't see how you have come to this conclusion. He looked very good yesterday. He has a lot of attributes going for him that Malacia doesn't.Just based on this pre-seasons, Malacia looks street ahead of this youngster. And we have Dalot who could play as LB.
Agreed. I hope we can keep him rather than send him off on loan somewhere to rot, as most of our loanees have. There is lots of talent in this guy. He will have a future at this club.
I think he will have opportunities where we need to rest Shaw or play Shaw at CB. Hopeful for himAgreed. I hope we can keep him rather than send him off on loan somewhere to rot, as most of our loanees have.
Really? What qualities are similar? I ask because I don't think he's anything like him, he's oddly like a young Luke Shaw for meBurnley would be a really good destination for him this season. Could develop into a real player. Reminds me a bit of Sergio Ramos when young.
He is a big spanish boy with long beautiful hair playing fullback, with great promise on the ball but I agree I haven't seen much proof he'll ever turn into a CB but if I remember correctly there were also doubts about Ramos defensively at that age so you never know.Really? Would be a good move provided it’s a loan only.
IIRC Ramos was mainly known for being a physically developed and athletic full back, with a good level of technique and game intelligence but he was a hot head.He is a big spanish boy with long beautiful hair playing fullback, with great promise on the ball but I agree I haven't seen much proof he'll ever turn into a CB but if I remember correctly there were also doubts about Ramos defensively at that age so you never know.

Other than superfical looks, stylistically they're very different. Fernandez is more calm, whilst Ramos was the storm.
As I've mentioned in my previous post, Fernandez is a Marcos Alonso regen. Lanky and silky on the ball but defensively suspect; I think he has a higher ceiling though if he can develop his game and physicality even more.
Depends what you mean. I'd you mean for us then I'd say absolutely not as he's not good enough to play for us currently. If you mean just in general then I absolutely agree, he seems tailor made to play the role Zinchenko plays.I know some don’t like it but I’d play him in midfield. Still young enough to adapt and could add balance. For reference players like Van Bronckhorst, P Cocu and Zenden have done similar I’m sure at a similar age too.
