End thread/

My son built this in lego and if fell on him and fractured his leg.

He asked me to call an ambulance to take him to hospital and he cried when I told him no, because he hadn't paid for private health insurance.

Then he said "But I'm just a little kid. Don't I get free health care?"

And I looked him dead in the eye and said "Not in my America".

A purely capitalist society is apathetic towards those who are struggling and in need.

A purely socialist society encourages laziness and entitlement.

You need to have a balance of both.

Overall, I probably lean more towards socialism because I believe in free healthcare and social security.

There is no bad system, only bad people. Your system is only as good as the leader administering them.

In theory crafting both socialist and capitalist can work, but in real world pure "capitalist or socialist" wont work. There is never a pure capitalist, nor pure socialist. Pure capitalist won't have tax, SSN, mandatory tips, Union, etc.

Saw a comment somewhere on r/conservative claiming God established a capitalist way of life.

I find it really really really hard to understand how somebody gets to that kind of mental state. Has education failed him? Is it poor upbringing? Or just...stupidity?

Social democracy is successful across many countries in Europe. Problem is that the UK has drifted so far right that even common social democratic policies are branded as socialism or even communism. Blame our failing education system and tabloid media.
