NOT.

For the last time, the problem is our shit coaching and shit tactics. We don’t need a Galactico team to beat bloody Brighton. This should be painfully obvious by now. Basic simple shit like moving off the ball we can’t do.

Why dont you start with players being able to pass 10 yards! freaking embarrasment to the club!

Ah yeah, if only Mourinho had coached two centre backs to get goal-side and not make shit tackles when you're no where near the ball. It's so obvious!

I'm pretty sure most of them can do that. They are just unable to do it properly, under the guidance, coaching and preparation set by Jose Mourinho.

Of course it is.

We could have Messi in the team and he would half his output with this coaching/strategy.

No matter what happened or didn't happen in the transfer window, 400m spent should be enough to beat Brighton. It's f**kin Brighton not Barcelona

Our problem is both. We need better players AND we need a better manager to coach better football.

I mean if we were to become true title contenders then yeah, we do need better players. Mata and Young on the right is fecking tragic.

But you are right about the coaching. I've seen very little evidence of a well coached attacking unit.

Hopefully the board didn't want to invest in new players this past transfer window because of all the funding needed to sack Mourinho and appoint Zizou.

We need a better manager. No offense but who the feck are Brighton? Look how much talent we have on the pitch and we're getting outplayed by Brighton.

We do need better players in certain areas.

But most importantly we seem to need a better manager.

Wake up buddy. Our problems were glaringly obvious last season. How long are you going to blame players? It'll be the same next week. "Jose didn't tell them to do that, it isn't his fault."

Well you are right about one thing. The part where Jose DOESN'T COACH.

Mistakes happen. However, it was the same last week. We don’t look to have a game plan or play on the front door. So passive. There is a clear coaching problem too.

Any team could have a bad day against relegation fodder. But to be outwitted by the likes of Brighton twice over the span of three months, clearly shows how incompetent we are tactically. The players are not playing well, yes but they are quality players and should be enough to beat Brighton.

Awful tactics is the reason to blame again

We are shit on a stick.

There's not even a stick, because a stick would mean there's a solid core.

It's just more hardened, crumbly shit that's been there a bit longer than the fresh shit on the outside.

Like I said in the match day thread, I'm starting to lose faith in Mourinho. We consistently don't seem to have any attacking plan. It was downright negligent to go into this season without having signed a right winger.

Yeah that's the key bit. Alright so we can improve in some areas in the personnel we have. But look how poor we look collectively and in our organisation. Rubbish from Mourinho.

The match hasn't finished. Use the Match Thread to discuss the actual game. If you can't post in that thread, use the Newbie Forum.

Lack of movement off the ball, pressing etc is down to coaching. We play with no cohesion and shouldn't be needing to spend another few hundred million to perform against Brighton. They outran us by 10km! Absolutely no urgency.

Like I said in the Matchday thread - the quality is there minus Young.

The problem is the coaching how can people not see it?

Would Young Valencia Lindelof Bailley Shaw Jones Darmain Lingard Mata or Rashford hold down a regular starting berth at a club like Everton? That’s the main problem but I expected far more organisation from Jose when he came in. We have some really top players but our supporting cast is dreadful.

You need a better coach.
And they need him badly. That was tough to watch. There was no attacking plan whatsoever. Nobody knew what he was supposed to do on offense. Everyone just started headless runs and dribblings due to a complete lack of options. If this was the start of a coaches first season, that would be ok. But not at the start of the third season. That’s terrible. Mourinho doesn’t seem to have a clue about what to do on offense. The players are completely on their own.

Wish we'd put our resources into scouting and the academy. It's a fools game trying to play in this market. Any player (now expensive) will always have a 30-50% United tax on them.

Clearly soon we will start having to pay 70, 80, 90 for average full backs etc. It's a poor tactic and unsustainable.

It's both. But a huge part is the players.

Lingard, Rashford, Mata wouldn't start for any of the other top 5 teams (Pool / City / Spurs / Chelsea).

Bailly and Lindelof wouldn't start for them either.

Neither would Shaw and Young.

Our players are just worse than what the other top teams have.

Feck Mourinho for not stopping Bailly from making that challenge. A better coach would have told him not to do that.
It's not all on Bailly isn't it?

If Bailly was playing for Liverpool, and made the mistakes he did, would Klopp's Liverpool have came out in the second half, playing like we did, looking like we have no clue what to do in the attacking third?
