Plenty of good stuff there but I think the top ten should be (with some key exceptions like Van Morrison if we're claiming him and others..) mostly the best folk songs and their best renditions. Grace enters at 11 I think. I'd have it in the top ten along with a few others of different performers... Dubliners under-represented and the Clancy Brothers don't even crack the top 100. Irish folk music isn't really my thing, but that seems criminal.

Van needs to be higher.
It would be a great playlist anyway.

I know everyone has forgotten them now but JJ72 had some crackers, they should have a song or two in the top 100

Immediate thought is that Thin Lizzy and The Undertones should be higher.

Also Ash to a lesser extent, and not sure I'd have Shining Light ahead of Oh Yeah or Girl From Mars.

Also I don't know Fontains at all but they come on the pub playlist sometimes and I like the sound of them - best place to start?

It’s sad so many are gone now. All the top 3 or 5 out of top 6 (in terms of lead vocalists)

I don't dislike Zombie, it's a good tune, but there are plenty of Cranberries songs I'd have over it.

Linger is perhaps my favourite song of all time so criminal it’s 16th and as much as I like Zombie and Dreams, they aren’t better.

But honestly Take Me To Church at number 5? Feck off.

And I honestly hate Fontaines DC. We have Radio X on in the office so I hear Favourite about three times a day and it’s a truly awful song.

Feels like a list that was made to squeeze that wank Killeagh song in the top ten.

No Richie Kavanagh, Dustin or Jumbo breakfast roll... shameful stuff, who ever made this list should be forced to stay within the borders of Longford forever.

Ehm... Where is Rocky Road To Dublin? Isn't that one of the greatest songs ever, regardless of country?

Killeagh? Get to feck

It’s obviously a shite list, it was voted by the listeners of a radio station that mostly plays modern crap, hence that Killeagh tripe being 7 or whatever.

Still, as shite as it is, look at all the great songs and bands in there, and not in there. Shows how much we punch above our weight as a nation, musically.

Put em' under pressure above Brown Eyed Girl...

In fairness I've seen worse lists but Lizzy a bit low. Also a lack of Rory Gallagher.

Galway Girl is Sharon Shannon featuring Mundy; they have it the wrong way around, the cheeky pricks.

Some mad omissions and some stupid inclusions. That's the public for you. They elected FF.

Of all the accomplishments and accolades Prince has, I still didn’t expect him to write the second best Irish song ever, despite not even being Irish. True legend.

Steve Earle wrote Galway Girl.

Galway girl was written by Steve Earle. He's great but he's American. Some of the biggest hits here that some people might think were Irish were written by others. Nothing compares 2 u Prince and Fisherman's blues recorded in Galway and massive but by Scottish band the waterboys.

No Rory Gallagher. Killeagh near the top? Shite list! At least the Saw Doctors got in, they work really hard and have some bangers even if they aren't the coolest band in the world. Good list for a person trying to learn a pub set of tunes to be fair but loads of crap on it

Can’t go wrong. As someone else said start at the beginning - or the end as Romance is a great album
