Bernie would have stood a chance, he could have played against the establishment and offered a sense of hope but the socialist label may have held him back, who knows. He should have been given the shot though - if principle had anything to do with this whole mess we call democracy.

I need to see his speech. I want to see him sent out a message that isn't as insane as the one he's been spouting. He needs to concede a bit.

Vox suggested that Clinton/Trump is the last gasp of America's baby boomers - They suggested that Obama was the first Gen X president and that following whoever wins this Gen X will be the dominant political force. That's the only thing giving me hope, that old people will die. Sad, isn't it?
America have decided to go 180° backwards. Staggering.

Anyone seen the film Funny Games?

The feeling you get watching that is closest to my current outlook.

Trying desperately to see the light at the end of the sewage pipe, we have always had to take a few step backwards after a 'forward step' period of social progress. The liberal 60s begat Reagan and Thatcher, rather than everlasting hippy love, after all. Bill Clinton led to Bush, and Blair to Cameron. The jubilation of Obama's election was always going to create a reaction of sorts, we just never thought it would be this bad. The biggest worry is that we've taken 50 years worth of steps back, rather than just the obligatory two.

The two curators of western civilisation over the last 300 odd years, have both shit the bed at once. All we can hope is that this galvanises the next generation of progressives in the same way Obama (+ Fox/Trump/Sun/Mail/Murdoch et al) apparently galvanised the disenfranchised paranoid white cnuts who've yanked us back into the mid-20th century.

Its possible. As long as theres still a democracy to allow it, of course.
I agree - hopefully this is the catastrophe that turns into the lesson that needed to be learned. One way or another it will be a pivotal day in the history of America (and thus the world).

She and her political ilk are disgusting.. all over the world. Everyone can see it now in the age of the internet. What are the chances that four of the best candidates to lead a country in one lifetime happen to be father and son, and husband and wife. Seeing them all lose collectively to Donald fooking Trump is brilliant.
I could certainly agree with that if the candidate to show them up was someone vastly different to Trump.

Must admit, I didn't even follow the elections closely because I just couldn't see a trump win. Guess brexit should have taught me a lesson. This is really scary, not just for America but the rest of the world. Donald fecking Trump, president of USA. Incredible.

Just because one is different or an outside or whatever doesn't mean they are better. This idea that people are tired of the establishment is definitely true and has a lot of legitimacy. But going in absolute opposite direction is rarely the best course of action. In this case, it actually signifies that the racism, hatred and bigotry that has marked human history throughout the ages did not exactly decrease as much as we thought thanks to education, it has just been asleep and is strongly coming back.

Im not american and hopefully he'll stir up things. The status quo is not beneficial to muslim countries.
This is a guy whose whole campaign is based around anti-Muslim rhetoric. In what way do you think things will improve for Muslims? What about the muslims in the US? do you not realize what a torrent of Islamophobia and racism this is going to unleash?

Get real, man.

FOX Called Wisconsin for Trump!

And before anyone says its Fox..they take their polling seriously.
Just looking at projected votes in key areas remaining, i am an eternal optimist but this isn't over yet.
I still think she can win Michigan but PA is the big problem as the one county that hasn't been counted yet is GOP teritory and there's not too much left in the other counties. But hey, it's not impossible.

China might have been right for years. Democracy is a joke and it is unbelievable that a person as unqualified as Trump can be president. His sumpreme court nominee will mostly likely setback a lot sof progressive policies for the next 70 years or so if you use the republican majority in congress as historical data.

I am heading to Mars with Elon Musk to help create an ideal society. Just Kidding. I am not ready to die lol.

At this very instant I m guessing everyone in UK is breathing a sigh of relief because, 2016 will go down in the history as the year trump became president and Brexit goes into the backburner...

Speculation of course but in my view, Trump will be much more pragmatic and reserved in the job should he win. The guy has the majority of a lifetime of actually being quite liberal. I don't think he's a great guy by a lot of standards but he knows how to run successful organisations and maybe that real life experience is what the job needs.

Obama seems like one of the most honourable guys the public eye has seen let alone just in politics and the jury seems to be out on if he was a good or bad president. Just because Trump is an arse doesn't mean he will be a terrible president. Wait for the nuke sirens before crying, emigrating etc
