It's all happening in two cities, Glasgow and Berlin (with some diving in Edinborough). Some new idea from people in power.

But feels like a mini olympics, and bound to find some cool events to watch. Road cycling, rowing and swimming for me.

Oh, athletics too of course.

Cycling, Road - road race

I'm not a fan of laps, too dull usually. 16 here, ugh. Probably Viviani v Sagan v Kristoff, with Greipel lurking short behind?

Cycling, road - time trial

Did anybody else watch the swimming today? In particular the mixed 4*100 medley relay race? Two men, two women in each team - fascinating watching the way the race unwinds.
At moments depressing seeing how fast are men when racing in same disciplines as women. But quite interesting still.

It's fascinating because while they LOOK a lot faster, they aren't actually all that much faster

Also, Miressi dominating the 100m freestyle

Tortu now in the final of the 100m. Come on Filippo, go get a medal

5th :(

GB gold and silver

Btw, Peaty and Ledecky are the successors to Bolt for athletes you absolutely must watch every chance you get. Watching Peaty at the euros has been almost comical

What intrigued me is the psychology of the problem. It's easy enough to add up times to give the lowest total for the four, but the chaser versus the chased in the final leg gives it an extra edge. Always true in relay races of course, but that bit more dramatic here. If all teams were swimming in the same pattern woman, man, woman, man or whatever - it wouldn't be nearly as interesting.

Watching the diving while the cricket's delayed. What's most interesting is that the commentators clearly hate each other, spent 80% of this event sniping at each other and about 20% talking about what's happening

Nafi Thiam is such a star. Reigning World Champion, Olympic Champion and the possibility to be European Champion as well in one of the most difficult disciplines in athletics.

Yeah, she's brilliant. Didn't really seem on form yesterday but she's still likely to win by a big margin barring a disaster in the 800m, think the difference in PB is about 8 seconds so she should be fine.

Wow, Dina Asher-Smith blitzed that 200m. First time under 22s too.

Yeah, was lovely race. Thought the fourth racer was a bit tired after running in 400m final (and winning there too), but put a blinder at the end and won again.

But kinda stupid scheduling. 400m and 4 x 400m at same day? Should've switched with 4 x 100m tomorrow.
