Skizzo

Formation -4-2-3-1

Fairly straight forward in the approach. Would look to get Laudrup on the ball in between the lines to slide in RVN, with supply from two wingers who would look to stretch the play and get inside at opportune moments.

Not much to say about Sjor's team. Great 442 with class players all over the pitch. Would like to see us keep it compact and tight and hope that Laudrup-RVN link can provide a more consistent and telling threat than the opposition's attack.

Sjor Bepo

High Line, High press.

Team filled with absolute GOATs when it comes to team work and work rate. Usually you would pay to see something on the ball but id actually pay to see this team defend, would be worth every penny no matter the price. Regarding high line, dont think you can ask for a better pair, 2 freaks of nature that form a such a natural stopper-sweeper combo.
In possession team is perfectly capable of doing multiple things which is always a great asset as they can asses the game situation, opponent and do what its best. If they need to play and dominate possession, well, they only have the best midfielder that ever played the game in his natural habitat. If they need to go direct, they have the personel to do it and the same center-piece of the team proved himself in a fairly direct setup before.

yeah couldn’t get the balance I wanted, then had to decide between getting a better winger than I had, and then struck out three times in the last round trying to get a defender to balance it:mad:
I voted against you just because you messed my last Ronaldinho pick.

And also Sjor has a nicer team.

@Šjor Bepo What's the plan for dealing with Lauders?
No specific plan in terms of man-marking or something but a team plan translates its nicely for the Laudrup situation:
  • make the pitch as small as possible - no space in pockets
  • high pressure - win the ball high and fast - cut the supply
  • high line - move Ruud as far from goal as possible

Excellent team from @Šjor Bepo . Both in terms of quality and tactically he has the edge here.

Unlucky for @Skizzo that he couldn't finish his team. Really like the midfield and attack and especially Joya/RvN link up seems very similar to Joya / Spencer so that is viable route to goal.

Not 100% sure, but I think I've picked up Causio myself in at least one previous draft. If not - I've certainly considered him.

Considered one of the great Italian wingers/wide players - but not an easy sell given his prime (70s - bit of a lull for Italian football in general, compared to the 60s and the 80s). Won the WC, of course, and even came on in the final - but he was a grizzled veteran by then and is hardly associated directly with that triumph.

Skizzo's team is spot on given the alternatives.

Sjor's team is overall stronger, though. Have to give it to him.

And don’t forget the mustache!

He reminds me a lot of Figo. Not a blistering fast player, but a marvelous dribbler & crosser with playmaking qualities, equally adapt to play on both wings. Ruud would’ve loved him.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.

How was he defensively? I thought he looked exceptional as a wide midfieler on the few times I saw him and have zero memory of his defensive game. Thought @Skizzo might have been going for a Zona Mista - sub Cuper with a decent stopper and field a specialist DM instead of Rakatic and it looks pretty great. Joya as a roving forward wandering all over the place and playing off RVN seems like a menace.

Decent, but that’s about it by my recollection. Not as good as, say, Conti, but he did track back.

Might be wrong about this, but I vaguely recollect that he played further down the pitch at times - as a wingback, almost.

Anyway, I think it's fair to say he was decent defensively - disciplined, tactically sound, etc. Typical Italian, you could say (at least for that era).

I appreciate the freshness of your teams every draft @Šjor Bepo

I didn't think the team would look that good by looking at the squads after initial drafting. Well done.
