I agree. I think in a scenario where the Republicans to get a good result at the midterms, it will be because of gerrymandering, voter suppression tactics and the Democrats' utter inability to communicate.
Just a bit bizarre to ask for a pre-emptive "excuse" when no vote has been cast and the polling suggests the Republicans will get clobbered.
You forget that the Dems will do what they do best: blame the left for not voting them enough, even though the Dems refuse to make policies that the left wants.
I guess the new line of attacks by republicans on Talarico is that he doesn't...eat enough meat for their liking/trying to suggest he is a vegan.

Someone pointed out that we're back in 2009 with the Barack Obama dijon mustard scandal. It's of course because they have nothing of substance to target him with, but as you say it might also work on the breathing corpses that watch Fox News all day and annoyingly still hobble their way to the polls every other year.

Talarico as has been stated still has a huge fight on his hands. Texas voters are apathetic and he will have to get White voters and Latinos most importantly that likely voted for trump a couple times maybe even 3 times and are either tired of him or regret it and want him checked. This article was interesting pointing out how expensive the race will be and how that money could have been used in other Congressional races by the GOP in more danger than Texas.
Cornyn was trash but he voted for Trump nearly all the time. He wouldn't have gone into the race with as much baggage as Paxton who is objectively just the worst.
The fact that all they have come up with for Talarico so far is vegan nonsense is telling.

He’s leading in every single poll against Susan Collins and a Nazi tattoo didn’t do much harm to his campaign. The smear campaigns will kick into overdrive, but he’s got a good chance of winning.
Collins will win. Her and Murkowski have this ability of defying the odds every single time.
But would be nice if finally she losses her seat to a Dem. It would also be tragic on the other hand, considering that her and Murkowski are the only somehow bipartisan remaining senators (I do not consider Fetterman bipartisan, more like braindead).

This is no surprise given that a majority of the remaining ballots are in Dem strongholds. The only question at this point seems whether Raman has the support to topple Bass.

Based on what? She's a distant third in primary polling right now and seems to have horrible political instincts.
She was extremely solid during Covid & rose the Michigan state legislature ranks quickly. She was being touted as a Dem to watch. Not sure where / when she started going off of the rails.
Maybe just the national scene being tougher than the state level. Just a lot more scrutiny. But I guess it also depends on who the opposition is - sometimes candidates can get through primaries basically unopposed.
