Is that where Joni Mitchell was singing about in Big Yellow Taxi?I stood where he died. It's now a carpark.

How old do you think Penna is?@Penna
Guessing you were around during this period? What was the reaction like to his death?
Did you just call Penna old?How old do you think Penna is?
No that was about Richard III.Is that where Joni Mitchell was singing about in Big Yellow Taxi?
Ah I see. I wonder what had her in LeicesterNo that was about Richard III.
I dont know about other places, but in my school it was very shallow and mostly focused on guilt-tripping rather than looking at what lead up to the events of WW2, what made people follow the NSDAP, etc. Aka actually understanding what happened. And then just test about us knowing the exact dates and numbers and that was about it.Any germans here? In history class how do they teach ww1 and ww2

That's funny, because it's the exact opposite of what I was and wasn't taught in history lessons at school. Perhaps the German and English education systems could combine these into a proper lesson plan, and we'd be all the better for it!I dont know about other places, but in my school it was very shallow and mostly focused on guilt-tripping rather than looking at what lead up to the events of WW2, what made people follow the NSDAP, etc. Aka actually understanding what happened. We also almost skipped WW1. Just went through it a few weeks and then instantly jumped to WW2.
Same skipped right over WW2. WWI was also just half a term in Year 9, the rest of the time was spent on the Henry's, Richards and a good amount on America (natives and slavery)That's funny, because it's the exact opposite of what I was and wasn't taught in history lessons at school. Are we allowed to say anything bad about him, or is this not the thread for it?
We basically didn't talk about WW1 in school. But literally every history lesson from 5th grade on was about the Nazis.Any germans here? In history class how do they teach ww1 and ww2
Dunno, 80?How old do you think Penna is?
Nah, Reinhard Heydrich had him beaten even in his own time.75 years and still the biggest cnut who ever lived. Takes some doing.

This is exactly how Nazi Germany ended.
Wonder how many people out there who've put this in their will regarding how they will like to be carried in their own funeral.

Yes, but I'd argue no Hitler, no Heydrich.Nah, Reinhard Heydrich had him beaten even in his own time.
None of these people would've gotten to power without Hitler though. Heydrich died half way through the war too.Nah, Reinhard Heydrich had him beaten even in his own time.
Extensively. The Nazi era took up a whole semester in year 12 (four lessons per week in my history major). I don't think a single stone was left unturned.Any germans here? In history class how do they teach ww1 and ww2
interesting!
It's not like the Daily Mail were alone in this. Aftenposten, a large Norwegian traditionally conservative newspaper, was not terribly critical of fascism in the build-up to WW2, and were made (or made themselves) available to the German occupiers after the invasion. Of course, unlike the Daily Mail, Aftenposten is bitterly aware of their past. Here's an article in Aftenposten about it, called "When Aftenposten failed".
He's considered one of the most odious people ever to live, so we've got try to frame him in a good light, blame his cultural and environmental influences, and be as edgy as possible. Are we allowed to say anything bad about him, or is this not the thread for it?
