The sub-heading to every one of his United matches thus far.
When our opponents play fast football on the ground, they could be Manchester City or Granada, AWB and Lindelof make a great defensive team on our right hand side.

I thought that he had a good game. Locked down the right hand side and he looked pretty silky on the ball on a couple of occasions that could have been tricky to negotiate.

he needs to take more responsibility passing forwards and stop passing sideways to team mates under more pressure.

in the first half for some reason he played a sideways 5 yard pass into Pogba, who was covered by 2 players.

I don’t understand why he does this when he’s actually really good of dribbling/playing out pressure.

Need to give this lad some credit. Could join Maguire in making 100 appearances in his first two seasons. Very reliable and very impressive for someone who joined as a 21-year-old.

Yeah it's frustrated

Overall I thought he did well, but he sure does like putting his colleagues into trouble
That Pogba booking was partly his fault with the pass he made.
It's annoying when he dribbles it and then proceeds to pass sideways to a player like a metre away who might be under more pressure than him

Otherwise he was defensively solid. And I do like having him as the man back when we have a corner in case theirs a counter

He put Pogba under undue pressure which caused the yellow to be honest, did the same to Lindelof but when Lindelof returned the favour, he responded with an immaculate cross field ball which effectively beat the whole press! :houllier:

He improved greatly after that. AWB is a weird one, there was a game a month or so ago where he pulled some tricky dribble out the bag that left 2 players in his rearview, and yet for the most part he seems unsure with the ball and tends to give it away cheaply or put his team mates under unnecessary pressure.

I suspect he has more on the ball ability than he shows and his issue may be more mental than technical (i.e. I'm great at tackling - I'll resort to that and hope I don't have to do anything else). The issue with failing to see dangerous situations developing and sometimes only jogging rather than sprinting towards the action also points towards the mental aspect of the game which he'll hopefully develop as he matures.

He's done really well though all in all, a 21 year old defender at 100 appearances for United? That's impressive.

He does this weird thing in games where he almost jogs towards a ball when under pressure like there's absolutely no danger around. It's very odd. In fact I don't think it ever really feels like he's running at full pelt.

I love his acceleration though, he has learned when to use that in the right situations and he uses it well to come infield at times. He's getting there but slowly.

yep that’s the part i’m thinking of. I get he probably feels Pogba is the playmaker and it’s better to give the ball to him in certain situations; but you have to read the game and see passing to him there will only go badly.

pogba ended up having a poor touch under pressure, then had to foul to stop a dangerous attack and got a yellow.

I’ve noticed he does this quite often, maybe it’s a confidence thing or just following instructions.

Which matches mate? I've not seen it as much because clubs dont press us like Granada do all that often

obviously I can’t narrow it down like that but you can probably find instances in every match.

When he’s in a tight pocket he has a habit of taking the easy option instead of trying to get it forwards.

With a bit more confidence he can be a great player. He has the tools to do it.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Went a bit under the radar because of fantastic second halves by Pogba, Cavani and Fred (and Greenwood when he came on), but AWB was also great in the second half. He actually showed some real quality in bringing the ball forward and a few good passes in those positions.

More of that please AWB.

Maybe his best performance with the ball. He played a lot of one touch football and was aggressive in his play too.

Good stuff from AWB today, had a great contest with Son and was a threat going forward in the 2nd half.

This should be the template for how he should be playing all the time. His first touch was fantastic today, in particular.

Really good game second half. Did a great job of exploiting the space Son couldn’t be arse tracking.

Not enough comments in this thread when he plays well. Excellent today, has his deficiencies but can be a top class full back if he puts in the work.

I know that alot of people dont rate him and I admit he isnt perfect but I'm really enjoying the way the guy has been slowly progressing. His slight improvement on attacking has slightly made him less consistent defensively in comparison to last season.

He is nowhere near perfect and he is maybe nowhere near very good either yet I can see why Ole decided to try get him rather than someone else.

Ole is a coach who targets an individuals ability or a specialist and Wan Bissaka is the worlds best one vs one defender. Hopefully he progresses to a more well rounded full back with an understanding of his role and a balance of capabilities really has me excited.

The guy is still relatively young and watching how players like Shaw turn their life around after a combination of reaching their prime at 25, competition and a bit of training - I dont see why Wan Bissaka cant be this well balanced fullback for us.

It's why I'm not really crying out for someone like Max Aaron's or Lamptey just yet - feel like they are fullbacks that are always easy to get, found in every league and nearly every team with the same strengths but also the same weaknesses.

I want Trippier here to help him understand and compete for his role and give him some time to develop (maybe when trippiers time is up it's the time we replace him with a younger attacking RB like Aarons/Lamptey). Even if Wan Bissaka one day ends up being our 2nd best RB in the United squad - we have a RB who is the worlds best at One Vs One so it's not exactly a complete waste. Not his first good match for us during his time here.

Like ole said, he'll be one heck of a footballer in 2 years time when his all round game is up to speed.

Great game tonight. Delighted for him

I think he had a very good game both defensively and going forward. My only concern with him is his inability to put in a good cross. I am having flashback to Tony V with his ability to hit the first man, or just give the ball straight to the keeper. Need to work on that and he'll be first class. He seems to have improved in being more disciplined - he used to lose his man frequently on the right side.

I definitely think he’ll take it up another level, he’s in the right environment for it and he’s been getting better since he joined.

Thought he was absolutely terrific again today, so much better when he backs himself to run into space going forwards, he's got plenty of ability. I think when he's about 25 he's going to be a monster if he keeps improving.

He was very good today attacking all the time on the right side. hopefully he can start getting the early crosses in now.

He’s got all the right ingredients to be a top player. He’s still relatively inexperienced, he hadn’t played 50 for Palace when we bought him.

Good game. I thought people were a little harsh giving out about him for their goal. Hopefully we see more of these kinds of games. He’s had a few but never really put together a run where he’s at this level. Neville made a good point that constantly changing our right winger doesn’t help him. He has different jobs to do with every winger he plays with. Doesn’t help him get into a rhythm

Fantastic yesterday. Some lovely dribbles and got the ball a lot in the last 30 minutes. Don't know why people don't rate him, he's at least a 6.5/10 every week, always available, great in big games, young and homegrown. What's not to like?
