Horrible signing. I'd prefer Young playing on RB. We could've get Vrsaljko for like 15-20 m who is proven and one of the best RBs. If we sign Koulibaly or something like that for 100+ m, and keep paying Alexis and Pogba, I'll stop follow United after 22 years of being a supporter.

This has to be ironic?? We literally have our RB spot sorted for 10+ years and you are going to stop following the club over it?

Wow, Young was really shite eh ?
Young was and is very poor quality. I would say that he might get a starting spot in the Huddersfield team which got relegated but any other team wouldn't let him start.
It bemuses me then, that when fit, he starts every single match for MUFC. But perhaps that's what we are - a team which accepts mediocrity and doesn't want to let the deadwood drift away.

As for Aaron Bissaka, I hope he does well for us and doesn't get injured, because he is now instantly our best RB (better than Young and Dalot (who is a youth player)).
If Aaron gets injured, we'll see the dreaded Young playing again, in RB.

Not sure if this is serious.
Bissaka is now our best RB. He may not be one of the best in the World, but he can certainly do a job in that position.

As happy I am that we have a new RB it's a somewhat depressing realization

Are you sure he's better than Dalot on RB?
This is 55m for some who is "not one of the best in the world" RB's.
He had more interceptions and duels won than Ashley Young? Wow that's impressive. Specially for CP player to have more of these than MU player.

Great signing, and one I wanted to make since the beginning of the summer.

I think for all the grief about getting a CB, I felt getting a RB was more important, both offensively and defensively.

Add in Brooks and Longstaff and it's been a decent summer

One of the brightest domestic talents have just signed for our club. He is gonna be great for us. Cheer up, alternatively just stop follow the club if signings like these disgust you so much.

Ole has stated on numerous occasions that he plans to build for the future, that means young and hungry players with the potential to improve - AWB fits that criteria. Plus his stats from last season hold up very well against some of the best RB's in Europe.

Try being a little more positive ;)

Market is insane these days. 55 million for a promising young RB who was part of...Crystal Palace. 55 million is no joke, even by rich club standards.

Wish him all the best and hope he becomes the permanent/reliable RB that Utd desperately needs.

I am happy we got this lad. Think he got proper talent. Cost a lot though and I hope we can add one key attacker too.

@everyone are we talking about the same market where Real gets Jovic for 60?
Amazing signing, looks like we don't really have any scouts either. I was joking about not supporting the club obviously, but these kind of signings really do disgust me. Didn't mean to be rude either, sorry if ypu took ot that way. Have a nice day everyone since I have only 3 posts a day.

The kind of signing we should have been making for years now. Buying established players has burned us. The club shouldn't be afraid of taking risks on young players with lots of potential.

A really great and exciting signing! He is arguable the best defensive right back in the league, and it will be up to AWB and the coaching staff to work tirelessly to improve the offensive side of his game. As a former winger I'm confident he'll be able to improve on this aspect of his game.

Well done to all of the United staff on identifying the player, how he fits our system, and getting the deal done. A rare moment of competency from Ed Woodward.
This is exactly the sort of comment I read when we signed the likes of Miki, Pogba, Morgan Schneiderlin, etc.
Before patting ourselves on the back, we should wait to see how he performs for half a season and then make an assessment.
I've been fooled by too many false dawns and I won't allow that to happen again.

RB check
RW check (if James can contribute a fair amount)
AM still looking
CB really need something
DM desparate for good young dm

2 for 5. I look forward to seeing Bissaka and James on the right side. That would scare many defenses.
Regarding the RW position: I doubt we will see much of James. He is a Championship player so I am not expecting him to go straight into the first team.
Lingard and Mata were rotating for the RW position last season and I expect that to continue being the case this season, unless one of those gets injured or if James performs far above expectation.
Just as Dalot was never going to be a game changer, neither is James.
I think CB is definitely a priority, but not sure if Woodie sees it that way. The fact that we leaked so many goals last season is probably lost on Woodward.

It’s 45 + 5 in bonuses, I haven’t seen anywhere report it as 55.

Our fanbase has been conditioned by the ABU media.

Transfer fees paid by Manchester United are on a rolling basis and increase logarithmically from the date of the official announcement.

He'll have cost us 75 million by Christmas.

'tis a silly place
Was far too easy for teams to gang up on our right side last season. Hallelujah for having two decent defensive full backs

Are players only good if they come from big clubs? Never understood this type of thinking.

It's Redcafe rules. If you don't rate the player, add a few million onto his transfer fee (or convert it into Euros but don't use the € sybol) , a year onto his age and about 30% to his weekly wage.

Works in the other direction as well. If you correct people they just come back with "whatever".

Young, humble, hard working talented lad on the cusp of greatness, exactly the kind of player we used to sign. It'll take us a couple of years to get there but with signings like this, we will get there again.

I have not been impressed with the news of the majority of most of or signings when we have made them post Ferguson. Mata, Fellaini, Schweinsteiger, Lukaku, Lindelof, could go on and on. Literally probably five or six signings I have been happy we have made in the last seven years.

I wouldnt say I am excited about the team for the coming season as there are a number of ins and outs I dont see happening still needed........BUT

I am confident you will change your mind about Bissaka individually as a player over the next couple of seasons. I think a lot of the people saying "he is rubbish over the halfway line" etc etc will to.

A lot of people saying "young, hungry, he is building for the future with players he can develop ". Although of course he fits that profile, I personally think people are under estimating him. I think we have just signed the best right back in the premiership who can develop into one of the best right backs in the world. Didnt know much about Dalot but Im so far not convinced by him.

I dont just think Bissaka is better than Dalot, I think its one of the most exciting signings we have made for years, and that includes some of the big names we have signed. Of course there are no guarantees, Shaw was a top young talent as well and injuries, fitness and several other factors he hasnt developed so far as hoped even though he was ok this season. I have every faith Bissaka will be a great right back for us I really do.

To be fair you have to look at the current squad, as things stand, for better or worse we have Lukaku, Rashford and even Alexis, signing Jovic would be far from a priority when we have RB, CM’s, CB’s to sign. We’re already a team that struggles to sell players so we need to buy shrewdly from here on, with players that still have a value 5 years from now.

Hope you get promoted soon so we can carry on our discussion.

Think he'll be a great defender for us. Hope he'll also contribute greatly to our attacking play.

Think we need to be patient with him, we don’t have a proper RW who is capable of 10+ goals. Mata/Lingard would be lucky to make that between them. It’s a downgrade from Zaha for him.

The attacking element of our right side is weak and AWB probably won’t be appreciated until we sign someone there worthy.

I fail to see the point your making there, Jovic and Wan Bissaka are the same age, they have both similarly had only one "break out" season, Bissaka is cheaper, in a position we desperately needed someone for and English... how is that worse?

Young was and is a winger who played at full back without complaint and did his best (which for a winger, out of position, was not bad).

Now we have two specialist fullbacks, Young will sit on the bench, without complaint and fill in when needed.

A good club man.

I wish Aaron every success and look forward to him making RB his spot for many seasons to come.

Hopefully he is a success.

I'm glad Young won't be our main starter at RB.

Very happy with this signing. Just the profile of player we should be looking to bring in, and I'm certain he'll be a hit!

"Aaron Wan-Bissaka was the only full-back across Europe's top five leagues to win over 90 tackles and complete over 60 take-ons last season", he was named player of the year at crystal palace and yes he is better than Dalot. We conceded around the same amount of goals last season as crystal palace, so yeah we had to defend a lot and young was sh't at it.

Lets just hope he can do it at United.
