Players you would like to see playing for us in the next couple of years?

My top two:

1. Obvious - Hannibal Mejbri.
2. Anthony Elanga - breathtaking winger. I hope he continues to play this way during his senior career and we'll have an amazing player coming up the ranks.

Mejia;
he lost the entire last season but he is a goal machine.
Their combination with emeran will be special.
I expect him to be in the u23 by the end of the season.

Elanga is a good one too.

Bernard in defence; he looks more composed and more ready than mengi to me.

Hansen the new signing

Bernard has improved over the past 12 months alright, but Mengi looks special to me. For such a young lad he's extremely mature.

Admittedly I know very little about these players. How would you compare them against Greenwoods ability? Mejbri would seem to be close to Greenwood talent level wise, how do the other guys stack up?

Greenwood has every chance of becoming club legend if he continues his trajectory, would be amazing to think there are a couple of more coming through with same potential.

Ethan Galbraith is the player I most enjoy watching in our academy. He's like a young David Pizarro, imo. I'm still holding out hope of him getting a shot in the 1st team.

Mejbri is a close second, and is the one I see becoming a good enough player to play at the top.

Probably Elanga, he's just a lot of fun to watch. We're absolutely spoiled for choice in general, we're always accused of overrating our youth players but with our track record it's hard not to get carried away. I'm liking the look of Mejbri so far, think he has all the tools to make it to the first team. Mengi, Laird, Garner and Levitt all look very talented. Special mention to Galbraith who I suspect the club rates very highly.

This is why I think we should spend some money this summer, if some of these academy players make it to a very good level, they will either save us on buying players, or they will be sold for good money.

I.E. Mejbri might save us for a Pogba replacement in 2/3 years time
Garner may save us Matic replacement
Laird will give competition to AWB
Levitt and Galbraith could be good squad options
Henderson has saved us getting a keeper
Mengi and Bernard may save us on a CB and take Maguire place.

Ofcourse, out of 6 only 2 might break into the first 11 but the signs are really good IMo.

At this moment its always hard to come to conclusion because the race is not always to the shift, or the battle to the strong but time and chance happens to them all.
Whoever will take his chance will well enough will make it.
This is a development phase and some players develop faster than others but others develop better but slower.
Rashford is one player who could be playing championship or lower if he hadn't taken his chance when came.

I don't tend to get ahead of myself with youth players anymore because a lot can happen, especially after Morrison.

I'd love it if they all made it, I am mean who wouldn't? But injuries can quickly derail a youth players career, like it could easily do with Laird.

In order from those who I've watched at least a couple of times: Mejbri, Mengi, Galbraith, (Garner, Levitt)

Galbraith, it would be nice to have an NI player in the first team again

I'm disappointed that Harvey Neville is getting such average feedback

Would have loved a new Neville at fullback coming through. Man United and Neville's just go together, it just fits.

He was hugely rated in the younger age groups and he’s come in several times into the u23s at 16 and put it top performances. He’s a top talent.
Sorry, bad joke on my part. I have only caught him once for the 23s when the fish jokes were flying about. Good to know though.

I think people would like to give him average feedback. Everything I've seen people say about him, people think he's one of the worst academy players we've had in a long while.

If I understood him correctly, he was wondering what you were going fishing for?

I’ve heard a few are going on loan but Galbraith isn’t - potentially good news that he’s next in line?

Or he is going on loan and I’m wrong

Walter Crickmer started it all...
In all my years following the youth team I've learned two things.

1. Never make any assumptions about who will make it and who won't. There are too many variables and I've been wrong many more times than being right. All you can say is 'if they keep developing they have a chance'...most don't keep developing and attitude/motivation is everything.

2. You only see a 'dead cert' once every now and then. I've only seen 3/4 real certs in all my time. Whiteside, Giggs, Fletcher, Greenwood?

Some others have been really close but you were never sure because of some issue like Doherty (injuries), Scholes (size/asthma), Brown (style), Morrison (temperament), Pogba (consistency).

The best thing is to just watch and enjoy the ride.

Thankfully nobody said Sotona. Apparently just left seeking first team football already. Was he any good?
He's got talent, no doubt about it. We've just got so much talent knocking about at the moment it's easy to forget about players like Sotona, I'd cateogrize him in the Ramazani bracket of ability. I don't think we'll miss him but he's definitely not a bad player.

Mejbri, Zidane, Emeran, Hansen Aroen, Carreras, McNeill, Jurado.

There's plenty to be excited about.
