As most have said he is virtually a win win signing. However the only downside is if he does prove to be useless we are still left with a void up front.
I do wonder also, as the premier league does not often sign players straight from south american leagues wether its often a work permit issue. So we don’t bother.

Never heard of him. Cool name.

Redcafe: We simply have to buy him! He's exactly the kind of striker we need! Woody is a prick if he doesn't pay the release clause.

We have 2 × U-23 strikers: Greenwood and Mellor, aged 18 and 19 plus 2 first-team strikers: Martial and Rashford. In the last 14 months we added 2 × 20-year old goalies we don't need. We have at least 11 goalies now at U-18, U-23 or out on loan.

The issue is the ridiculously unbalanced squad. Someone has to take responsibility. Heads must roll, noses may be broken.

Heard of this guy a few hours ago and I'm sold, but isn't it getting mighty late in the window for such a signing? Will he even get a work permit?
If he was coming to Bruges then I'm sure he will.

Brighton signed his teammate at NT level Alexis Mac Allister who is a AM and still only 21 and rated highly. Brighton couldn't get a work permit so loaned him to Boca Juniors but it seems they have the work permit now.

True but it’s not as if we haven’t been hit and miss with these types of signings, Bellion, Bebe, Dong Fangzhou, Manucho......
I think most of them were recruited without proper scouting. We're supposed to be stacked with scouts now, and getting even more soon.

The UTD logo used at the end of the Fernandes video is a very similar design to the one for San lorenzo. It's a sign.

It's not a sign.

This young Argie has far bigger potential than all those put together.

I would go for Badou (AZ). Young skillful and an investment for the future. We don't have any good strikers comig through the youth teams. Good defenders and midfielders but no real strikers.
If we are really looking at something short term as a loan then best would be Jovic at Real. He is not getting any playing time there

We would bid 27 mill for King but find Gaich at 14 mill euro too expensive. This club is getting thicker by the day.

We paid Hernandes for around 12 million and that was before the transfer hike. If his good enough then we should go for it plus Argentine players has more bite to their game which is a plus.

That's the problem our scouts should be unearthing players so we do not require to pay obscene amounts of money.

We should not be hoping the fan base knows the player which would be value for money. We know who King and he is not worth £27 million.

Yep but still are quality players.

I would just buy him now and loan him out for half a season to be here for the pre season.

We want a striker now, but if he is talented, why not do it like this if we have no time to complete it

Some good andy some not so good. The standard Argentinian player though is still more physically up for the rigours of the prem than most

What if this lad isn’t worth 14 million? Should we just buy him anyway because our fans have no idea who he is?

Then fecking trust them. If they are not paying 14m for an unknown kid , there would be a reason for it.

For 14 million euros just trigger the release clause. We can always loan him out next year and let him develop elsewhere.

‘We need an experienced striker to give us another option up top’. Yeh let’s buy a completely unproven striker in Europe let alone the prem who’s only 20 and will naturally be very inconsistent. He might be great, maybe we are still in talks with them and want him for the summer, but he is not what we need now, even if ‘we need bodies’.

Seems to be a hipster style of thought in this thread. I mean what 14 million quid? Pocket change to the majority of posters I bet.
I mean if we buy enough highly rated South America strikers, eventually we’ll strike gold, might only cost 100 million to get the right one...
