i'm sorry but 30 million pounds (roughly the reported cost in the newspapers) for this guy seems like a very good deal. we must be really broke if we aren't jumping at that.
Barca messed us about enough with Rashford. Loan or nothing, they have already shown they are comfortable loaning out Araujo too.
Yeah, I don't think we can play their game that well. For one, he's not desperate to join like Marcus was. They play those dark arts in the market so they're not as gullible as we are (were?). With Araujo I think they just needed him, as a character, out of the dressing room. That's what it seemed like anyway.
What is interesting though is that the "two other clubs" that are interested in their left back who really wants to stay at Barca, have not been identified. I suspect it's either because there are none, or because they are in the Turkish league or similar.
So Barca can take our players on loan with no obligation to buy, but they won't reciprocate? We should not even engage with them, I'm sure if we really wanted to find a support LB for Shaw we can identify someone that albeit may not as skilfull but atleast available for 20+ games of the season!
How Barca negotiated relative to the Rashford situation is irrelevant here. There's a good, affordable left back available in a position we need. The only question is whether this is a good move or not. Regarding injury, he played 47 games last year and was only unavailable for 7. That doesn't sound like a sicknote to me. Maybe there are other good reasons not to bring him in that I'm not aware of, but I honestly don't understand us not making a move here.

One of Norwegians biggest experts on la Liga says Balde has a much higher ceiling than Hall. His recommendation was - if he is available for £40 million- it's a no brainer - sign him up.

De Jong was abused by 100k fans relentlessly and Xavi said he can compete for CB for us if he stays but he still stayed. Barca and Real Madrid live in a different world.

Because they were doing him dirty they were trying to wriggle out of paying him almost 30 m of back wages which only came into effect because of him doing them a favour during COVID by renegotiating lower wages contract for few years and readjusting to higher wages for rest of contract length making up for lost wages .

Hes played over 40games last two seasons...problem is more run of games with cancelo there missing games he hasnt got consistency and perfirmances have dipped...thats more the red flag for me.
He can miss 10+ games this season, we still have shaw and other options like dorgu.
2/3years ago for me only nuno mendes and alphonso davies were better left backs...his top game is way above lewis hall.

It's not hypocritical at all. You can want to loan certain players and buy others. No club has an absolute stance on loan vs buy.
It's all about leverage really. We needed Rashford gone (due to his wages; we couldn't afford to have him just sit out) and Barca was the only buyer he was willing to go to. So they had leverage, and could ask for a loan.
With Balde, we don't really have leverage. Barca can just hang onto him, his wages are low and he still has 2 years on his contract. So we can't dictate terms like they could with Rashford. It's not that complicated.
How is he a good one when he won’t even be available for most matches? He is not going to magically fix his injury issues playing in a more intense league.
Halls a very good player, but this reminds me of tge Anderson saga....neither are world class...as they are english and in the premiership and fitted our need for those positions theyre being overhyped.
Balde for sure has been a better player than hall already, forms slipped...bit like baleba has already been better than anderson.
Both are players i wanted for over 18months, both potentially world class.

Personally tielmans is good but getting overly commended since we signed him as one of the best prem cm last 5years...nonsense. lots been better...santos is a really good squad signing that may develop to more.

He was injured for over 2 months last season and has had injury problems every season. Its just a huge gamble to sign him imo.

Glad to see some movement on the LB links. I saw us being linked with a young Segunda LB a few days ago. I would much prefer us to sign someone in that position who has over 100 Barca appearances. I've got nothing against taking a punt on cheaper youngsters, but we need someone who can start ahead of Shaw now rather than in a year.
