So what does the caf make of him? Decent player? Underrated? Overrated?

There were old threads for him in the football forum, so I created a new one instead of bumping them.

Was great against Malta wasn't he. 40 million for him in the last year of his contract is amazing business. They'll destroy City with him in the squad.

Good player, but needs consistent game time to develop and Liverpool could be seen as a side-step in that respect. Especially if he personally sees his future in the centre and Liverpool are flush with central players - Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Milner and Lallana and Coutinho to return to the fold. While Keita joins next summer.

Expect him to rotate as part of the front three with Mane and Salah though he isn't good enough to regularly displace either of them.

As funny as it is, I'm sure I read that that quote was fake.

Good option to have and I'm interested to see how Kopp will play him.
Like others have said, he won't be ahead of Mane or Salah but a great option off the bench and adds depth to us

He's been potentially good for 6 years now. Arsenal absolutely rinsed Liverpool.

Used to rate him, but I don't see it anymore.

Maybe Klopp can re-ignite him as a player, but I really can't see it.

Can only see him being used as a squad player, in multiple positions.

That said, I would like to see what he can do in a midfield three, as an advanced 8.

Pool overpaid but I doubt they'll give a feck if he does well. I think he'll suit Pool's system tbf, should be a good option for them.

Decent to good player but arsenal offered him 180k per week. What were they thinking when they were drafting up that offer.

£40 million now is not £40 million of even 12 months ago. He'll do well for them without setting the world on fire.

Well, he's got pace, he can cross, and he can assist. The odd goal here and there. And he runs up and down like the other madmen in that Klopp team. I think he'll suit them better than he suits Arsenal.

He was meant to be a depth signing. He's now more or less first change off the bench and will be starting once the injuries inevitably pile up. We need him to have a tremendous season.

A good impact sub, imo. Would like to see him as CM like he has always said to be.

I always thought he was a talented player but he never really kicked on and established himself as a starter for Arsenal. Still time to sort himself out at Liverpool though.

Think Wenger completely wasted his potential for years. I hope Klopp does the same but he's a better manager unfortunately.

So does Sanchez and Arsenal wanted £70m there, for an ageing player (29 in 4 months' time), AOC is 23. I'm not comparing them directly as players of course.

As has been said, transfer fees are insane now and it's difficult to put a true value on a player, the starting point seems to be more or less who are the buying club and who are the selling club before we even get to the player himself.

Both ourselves and Chelsea were prepared to pay that figure and Arsenal offered him a bumper new contract. For three of the Top 6 to see value there must be something he has that RC posters are not appreciating.

Well, Sanchez is a world class player, hence the requested fee. The Ox is far from it. He has stagnated at Arsenal. Is that his fault or Wenger's? We'll find out, I guess.

I am speculating here, of course, but I don't think many Liverpool fans were calling for his signing prior to this window.

He could have been an impact sub at Arsenal if he had stayed on, or at Chelsea. He turned down money to join Liverpool, I think more minutes must have been an assurance.

I don't see how he fits in, to be honest. But then, I am just a guy on a message board. Klopp clearly has a plan in mind.

Chamberlain is a player who flatters to deceive. When the team plays with confidence, he is a good asset. However, when you need someone to step up, you can see how he goes into his shell and doesn't want the ball.

This could go one of two ways for Liverpool. Either he becomes the player he always promised to be or he gets a hamstring injury within the next five games and misses the rest of the season.

Wenger is a nothing coach; he has no idea how to teach a player to understand tactics. Klopp is a little bit better in that he can teach a player how to press, cover spaces and form attacking combinations, but he has no idea about defensive organisation.

I don't see Chamberlain being amazing under Klopp, but he has a good engine and can pass well, so he'll be good for Liverpool since he won't be left to the wolves like the defensive players at liverpool.

It is beyond the bounds of my imagination to conceive of any other possible scenario. These are the only mutually exclusive and exhaustive events possible.

His problem has always been decision making and his final ball. If he sorts that out he could be very good. It has improved in the last year and he's been better at delivering a final ball, albeit in a wider deeper role with more time on the ball. In a central role his decision making will be more underpressure with less time to make decisions. Perhaps a faster breaking counter attacking system will suit his talents. Even then his counter attacking decision making can be awful.

He's the mirror opposite to Iwobi who isn't as an incredible dribbler with lightening speed but he gets his head up and plays intelligent passes time and again.

Chamberlain also comes across as being a bit of a thicko, which ties in with his poor decision making. Turning down huge money at Chelsea and Arsenal for promises of playing centre midfield where he hasn't excelled doesn't seem a good decision either.

But he could prove me wrong, improve his weaknesses and become a complete player.

He's an intelligent player but a bit basic. No one forsaw him breaking out of the youth team ahead of other perceived bigger talents. We'll see how his career develops though.

Chamberlain at 17/18 we thought 'feck me, we've got a player here', but he never pushed on up until this year and even then we expected so much more. He could fulfill the potential yet, I won't write him off.

Trevor Sinclair thinks he's world class. I want to like Trevor with him being a Manc but he's not a world class pundit.

I rarely blame managers for poor performances but he is a player that's been messed about.

Chamberlain comes across well, keep him fit and Liverpool have got a decent buy I'd say.

I think his main issue is he hasn't nailed down his best position, but that might be related to him just being crap.

I think he's a good dribbler, works hard and is quick. Lacks end product. I don't see him as a £40m player. I see him as someone who'd be decent at a mid table club. Weird signing.
